MODELLING sensation Katie Green has dramatically QUIT her dream Wonderbra job after being told she was too FAT.
Katie, a sexy 30F hired for the famous firm’s “real woman” ads, blasted: “They got great publicity out of launching me as a ‘real’ curvy model.
“Then I was told that I had to lose lots of weight and become like all the other girls on the catwalk or I was finished. What a joke.”

Katie’s nightmare began just weeks after the £5-an-hour New Look shop girl won a summer audition to model the underwear made famous by Eva Herzigova in the “Hello Boys” ads of the ‘90s.
The new campaign featured Katie on billboards with the words: “D to G, because we’re more than a handful.”
Wonderbra suggested she sign with Premier Model Management, one of the most respected names in the industry.

Katie did but incredibly—despite being a healthy 10st 5lb for her leggy 5ft 10ins, size 12 frame—Premier told her she had to shed TWO STONE. She said: “Having ‘discovered’ me, Wonderbra’s people decided I should sign with Premier.
“It has famous curvy women like Kelly Brook and Myleene Klass on its books so I felt comfortable going there. They promised me all sorts of clients and named a series of brands including Special K who dealt only with bigger models.
“Then this so-called special booker Maxine Tinkler asked me in to their London offices and told me there was an issue with my weight. She said, ‘Most of our girls are size eight. We need you to tone up.’
“I was flabbergasted. Until then there had been nothing but praise for my curves.
“So I said, ‘With respect, my curves got me the Wonderbra job and brought me to you. But now you’re saying I’m too fat.’ They made it very clear they wanted me to lose two dress sizes.
“That would mean shedding two stone. I’d have been a bag of bones.
“But instead of listening to me, they just gave me dieting tips and told me I had to train at the gym every day.
“I was banned from eating carbohydrates after 4pm and even told I couldn’t go out for a curry with my mates. I’m embarrassed to admit I started following their regime. I even started skipping dinner and fibbed to my mum that I’d eaten earlier.”
Katie lost 7lbs in just eight days and thought modelling work would flood in.
But she went on: “Every time the phone rang it wasn’t with an offer of work, it was to check on my weight loss.
“I was invited back to London by Premier. I thought, ‘Great, this must be for a new photoshoot,’ but they just wanted to MEASURE me to see how much weight I’d lost. I had to stand on scales then a tape measure came out to do all my vital statistics.”
Katie’s concerned family emailed the agency, and got the following reply from Maxine Tinkler.
On September 9 she wrote: “I’m sorry you have been made to feel uncomfortable with the losing weight issue but normal size for models is 8-10.
"I only asked for Katie to drop down to a size 10 and to tone up as a lot of her work would be based around underwear.”
Katie said: “I decided to walk away. It opened my eyes to the fashion industry and the pressure it puts on impressionable models to slim, slim, slim.”
A Premier spokesman told us: “We advised Katie that commercial and lingerie models need to be an average size 10 as is requested by the market sector she wanted to model for.”
Wonderbra said: “At no time was Katie ‘made’ to sign with any agency.”

I've met Katie and am currently sitting, writing this, in her old bedroom. She is an incredibly attractive girl who is friendly and polite every time I ever spoke with her. I am very happy that she has decided to stick up for herself and other women from the sick idea that skinny women are beautiful.
As I said earlier, Katie is a natural beauty who is perfectly proportioned for her height. Making her lose weight would not only be detrimental to her health, but would make her look less attractive. Most men do not like "skinny minnies", they like a women with curves, not angles and points, so the more women that stand up and say enough's enough to these sick fashion ideals, the better.Well Done Katie!

Go girl! Im happy she woke up and quit she could just as well have lost her self in the madness and keept on droping weight making her self sick. Now she is a role modell for young girls.

Thin models look horrible, the whole concept is sick. I'm glad she walked away, and I hope every skinny model goes on strike soon! The agency is raving nuts.

They want every model to be stick thin because they want to save on fabrics and they love playing with kites! Or do they just want to promote their very unhealthy lifestyle of no sleep, no food, booze and drugs?
katie have a perfect body, the right curves in the right places.. not pointy and angular like the ones we see in fashion shows

She should get to weight watchers or go on the Barry Bethal slimfast plan.
There are people starving all over the world and she does not care give a thought for them.

You look absolutely stunning don't loose anounce

When I contemplate how sick Eva Herzgova looks with her current "thin look" and how less attractive she is compared with when she was curvier, I can only conclude the fashion industry promotes sick women as its ideal. They are just wrong. Paradoxically mens magazines and media will not be able to get enough of Katie Green. Maybe we aren't such bastards after all!
By William Huang. Posted October 7 2008 at 5:35 AM.
She looks better without a bra anyway.
By David. Posted October 7 2008 at 3:13 AM.
She looks fantastic.
If she goes down to size 8 - then the next thing she will have to do is to change her bust size........
By lanza100. Posted October 6 2008 at 4:28 PM.
Katie is just perfect! Stupid Wonderbra representants. Should be fired. Katie marry me so "fat" as you are!!!
By Michael. Posted October 6 2008 at 6:19 PM.
Ugh, no wonder we have so many people who have such a negative self image. Katie is beautiful and doesn't need to be any smaller. When I was young, being a model was all about the height and now it is all about the weight. I guess if she is too fat for Wonderbra, then I am too fat to use their items.
By Brenda. Posted October 6 2008 at 8:18 PM.
I think that Wonderbra should make a test to its model selector before to engage her, because i think he's completely mad.
Its absolutely absurd and insane to consider a perfect body like Katie's body too fat!
The mode's world is completely out of brain, the models appears often too skinny.
As italian i prefer a woman like Monica Bellucci with its round body with soft curves on the right places.
By Max. Posted October 6 2008 at 2:12 PM.
Bravo to Katie! I hope she sets an example.
By Lily. Posted October 6 2008 at 11:01 AM.
This woman has a perfect body. I'm sick of skinny models with bones sticking out everywhere and no breasts. Don't people in the fashion world realize that beautiful healthy women don't look like that? Lately, every time I see a skinny model I turn away in disgust. They really look like they have some disease. I hope somebody gives some modeling work to Katie very soon. We need a positive, curvy, healthy woman like this shown in advertisings and posters.
By Francesca. Posted October 6 2008 at 9:32 AM.
the clothing industry is ran by males who actually hate females. (yes there are some female designers, but its all ran by males)
That's why the "naggin" on being "skinny". so they don't look so much like a "natural female". Wake up people!
Also, the camera makes U look heavier than U R.
Why don't they just have men model everything. That's what they really want. (secretly)

Fat! WTF! I don't even see any fat she is mostly muscle especaily those thighs she does not have any fat to lose 28Lbs without becoming a skeleton
By jamesworkshop. Posted October 5 2008 at 11:02 PM.
god damn it if this gorgeous lady is fat then i need to diet drastically she is perfect a beautiful specimen of the female gender give me a women looking like that anyday over those stick thin ugly supposed super models they make me vomit x x x
By pete. Posted October 5 2008 at 4:08 PM.
I'm not surprised at all by the way this gorgeous young lady was treated by this pathetic industry. We live in a society where the average woman is 12 and 14 therefore catering for these sizes should be the only realistic and ethical target for these designers.
the fashion industry is a "different world" where drug, debauchery and starvation is the only gospel
This only consolation in this story is the fact that this young lady has realised very soon that the direction they wanted her to take was prickly.
By Armel. Posted October 5 2008 at 1:27 PM.
She is a stunning beauty. There is no need for her to lose weight or tone up. It's madness, a lot of guys (and girls), like a woman with curves. How ridiculous. The fashion industry needs to realise there are loads and loads of girls out there who are bigger than a size 8 who are gorgeous and yet they are made to feel like their worthless because it is drummed into them that anything above a size 8 is fat.
By Tally. Posted October 5 2008 at 10:53 AM.
This just shows the pressure woman are put under to conform to a certain look.
Respect to this young lady for standing her ground, Katie is absolutly stunning x
By bex. Posted October 5 2008 at 9:57 AM.
I can understand for some fashion shoots the clothes look better on skinny models , but underwear no way I think a good toned healthy body looks much better.
I think models in underwear with no bust look ridiculas and certainly do the product no favours.
By sah. Posted October 5 2008 at 8:59 AM.
I wish all models looked healthy like this young lady, she is perfect.
By Kaz. Posted October 5 2008 at 8:14 AM.
I think she looks very good. And I do not like to think I would want a partner that looks like a stick. the thin sticks have no breasts and if we was to make love she would most likely burst into flames due to the her stick like hips rubbing on mine lol. Or is it saying something about all the people that want the girls to look like young boys. lets be honest there is nothing nice about a bag of bones. they should GET REAL.
By Patrick Johnson. Posted October 5 2008 at 5:08 AM.
Its all about control, controling womens size, making them feel inadequate so that the whole slimming clothes fashion perpetuates fear and insecurity.
Women of a size 12 and 10 are made to feel ginormous I feel sorry for gorgeous size 16 girls who are the same size as Marilyn monroe and made to feel so afraid of their soft comforting bodies.
Take it from a guy, Boney unhealthy women are a turn off! seeing spinal bones , ribs , and pelvic bones is sooo unsexy.
Curvaceous women with full breasts full curves generous backsides and subcutaneous fat equally distributed are the most enjoyable, and the best thing is that you can go out for a full meal with them without them being paranoid about what they eat. They will be fun and a pleasure to be with.
Unfed, wasted. bad tempered and unhealthy women who resemble famine victims are very boring. give me a full happy "real women" any day and night!
By carl. Posted October 5 2008 at 4:52 AM.
this girl is not fat she looks perfectly healthy.and these people need to stop sing very underweight models as it doesnt look right.
it must stop all this nderweight business after all everyone is all differantly shaped anyway so if they want to sell there good surely they need to get in to reality sid eif life. how many of the women who by bras are underweight and for the clothes at these fashion shows well they are awful it is the same for them too it doesnt look nice it is pathetic.
By shirley. Posted October 5 2008 at 2:50 AM.
As a young guy, I think it's disgusting how some bigwigs who have clearly not been laid in a while, sit in their ivory towers and determine what they think we want to see. I think Katie is gorgeous.
By anon. Posted October 5 2008 at 12:49 AM.
What a disgusting way to treat an individual in an industry that is trying to turn itself away from size zero feuds and demonstrate a sensible approach in its corporate social responsibility.
As a marketing manager in retail, I'd never opt for models with dimensions less than size 10.
Consumers would never buy into and believe they could achieve the same fashionable looks unless they themselves had the same dimensions as a twiglet models on the catwalk.
I am looking forward to the new Gok Wan programme with Myleene Klass [starting in 2 weeks time] searching for natural beauty queens, which will hopefully help conquer this vicious epidemic of dangerous attitudes and heavy peer pressure.
