I was only 15 years of age when this story broke out on the news, and i,ve got to say i will never forget the effect that it had on me, even though i lived miles away in London from the place of crimes Gloucester. i her'ed the tv news of the story first, and then i stupidly red the whole pages after pages articles in the news paper. i couldn't sleep for days and the whole sordid, evil story played on my mind. even though i was 15 the whole story frightened the life out of me, and even now when i think about it, i still sometimes can't sleep. I guess to me, this is a reminder of how cruel and evil some people can be. I see people on this article sometimes saying about abuse and sexual abuse, but unless you have exsperienced it, you no nothing. I was just 8 when my own biological father started to sexualy abuse me, and mentaly and physicly abuse me, it stopped in 1991 when i was 12, and luckily my mother left my father, and on a visit to her, i broke my silence and told her about the abuse i suffered at the hands of my father. by rights or according to some people, i should be in prison for being a serial killer or a abuser, but i'm not. In fact, my life couldn't be further from that, and i know i could never become the next hitler,fred west or like my own father, i'm simply to nice for that, and i have something called a heart, soul and a conchence.

The best thing to learn from this story is that, we need to learn from historys mistakes, and stop the suffering of children and rapes of woman from ever happening again, in other words wipe it out of existance. If you no someone who has disapeared under strange and uncertain circumstances, Then report it right away, because your lack of response or intuition could cost a missing person there life.

It doesn't say how old Victor is. I was once told by a wise old woman that if a man reaches maturity and still hasn't got hitched, there is a very good reason why he hasn't been snapped up. In modern-speak, he has "issues!" Otherwise he would go out and meet someone in the old fashioned manner! There is nothing remotely normal about this bizarre relationship! The guy was lonely with a capital L! And loneliness can make people really plunge the depths, and tell bare faced lies TO THEMSELVES! I don't think he set out with the intention of selling Rose out like he did, but the opportunity presented itself, and he thought "why not?" Probably just a regular guy with serious issues!

I am responding to the last comment made. Alongside personal experience, I have worked very closely for a number of years with victims/survivors of historic and present sexual abuse and victims of domestic violence. I agree that such abuse has long term effects on victims that manifest themselves in more ways that can be mentioned but I have to disagree with your comment! Becoming the abuser is a choice that is made...yes many abused children who go on to be abused adults put up or keep quiet for many reasons but in my experience, there is a cut off point. This is usually when their children are in danger. RW went alot further than this to the point where she was just as much responsible for what happened. A long time ago, a very wise women quoted something to me that I will never forget, 'All abusers have suffered abuse but not all the abused go on to abuse!'

Rosemary is a victim. From the very beginning, when she was still in her mother's womb, she was subjected to anti-depressant drugs that her mom took, and why wouldn't her mother be depressed??? She was married to an evil sick minded man whom later raped their little daughter rose! He must have been a horrible person to be married to and be pregnant with. Then poor little rose grew up getting raped by that psycho dad! I wouldn't be surprised if he beat her up and emotionally abused her too. Does anyone understand psychology at all? The cycle of violence? when a child is subjected to rape and abuse what happens to them? they get messed up, and when its a girl its worse..She ends up with a man who's just like her father, because she doesn't know any better!!

She sounds quite happy! what the hell is that all about. for christs sake maker her life hell or kill her off slowly. she is a waste of money to still be breathing unless she is in severe pain and discomfort living every day in agony. she doesn't even think she has done anything wrong. The criminal system has failed miserably. human rights do not apply here.

Rose was one of my best friends at school. She came to my 16th birthday party, in August 1970. She seemed normal then. Who knows what went wrong, or how the wrong buttons got pressed!

I think people like Victor should not be allowed to publise his 'relationship' with the likes of Rose West.
It is morally wrong, to make money in this way, do people like him, not think of the young girls who were killed, or their families who, who no doubt go through more hearbreak and pain, everytime articles are published about this monstrous pair.

Victor and people like him have no shame, no common decency.

I've read all of the books published on the Wests and their monstrous crimes, she deserves to rot in prison, at least she is alive, fed and well looked after, unlike her poor victims.

It costs in excess of £30K A MONTH to keep this creature alive with 3 meals a day, a tv, books, recreation time and also a team ensuring SHE doesn't come to any harm. These letter show there is no remorse and that the prison system is not working. There i am afriad that capital punishment should be returned to stop this drain on our country and fund more worthy things in our society like the victims and law abing.
