Noel Edmonds: I won't pay my license fee

I have kived in the US for the last 5 years having become sick and tired of the way things were going in the UK. I accept every developed country probably has a problem with illegal immigration certainly thats the case here in the US but the problem in the Uk is that no one is doing anything about it! Most brits who can afford it are moving out and thats a shame, the UK used to be such a special place to live. Where I lived in the UK (Hull) there was so much crime and discontent caused by the newly arrived illegals that the council tried to keep it hushed up to avoid any bad press. I hope for all my relatives sake who are still living in the old country that someone has the backbone to speak up and do something about it like Noel is prepared to do. And yes before we know it the lunatics will be running the asylum!

I dont particularly like Noel Edmunds but I agree with his stance on this matter. An island can only hold so many people. I am not racist in any way but our ideals are being eroded and soon there will not be a Britain left. ANY other country would insist on its laws being adhered to so our country should be no different. If poeple do not want to abide by our laws they should stay in their own country and the people of our country who break the law should be in prison. A proper prison with proper sentenses for the crime committed. The human rights law should be outlawed in this country as it is being misused and only feathers the nests of greedy lawyers like the wicked witch (Blair). I am not the greatest at spelling and punctuation but it is heartbreaking to read all the bad grammer in the comments posted. The education system has collapsed.

Although I agree with those who believe Mr. Edmonds is pandering to the lowest common denominator. (For example, that is precisely what he does with his Deal or No Deal show. Where people who can't answer questions can play for high stakes.)

It's quite clear that immigration is the single greatest weapon that will be used against us to produce the coming world order.

Once the populations and cultures become sufficiently mixed, each nation becomes indistinguishable from the next. Arguments for sovereignty become severely eroded and nations flow into one another with little resistance.

The inevitable result of which: "One global nation... one vote... one winner... one leader..."

But ask yourself this? If all the supermarket chains merged... what would happen to competition? How much for your food then? When nations no longer compete against eachother... in a global labour market... where ever more expensive election processes are controlled by the man with the most corporate backing... how much will they decide pay you? Perhaps you're taking a pay cut this year, say 40%? Don't like it? Go work on another planet.

Immigration is "by design" guaranteed to:

Increase prices. Reduce wages.
Increase taxes. Reduce resources.

Isn't natural selection wonderful?

Killing off all the brave young men in wars, to leave only mindless self-serving cowards, the greatest of which will rule us forever more.

I cannot believe what I am reading about England. I left in 1985. What happened?? To all those who wish they could leave. Canada is bringing in British Bus Drivers and lots of other jobs in Calgary, Alberta. The next town to me (where there were no British) Is now full of Brits from Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester and the South of England.
It seems the British Government wants to compete on a Global scale or is it a World Government wanting to reduce everyone's wages and send us all into poverty. It has been going on long before I left. I was abandoned on the Street in 1983 when my husband left me penniless and was told I was too competent and that they couldn't give me a house or any money. So this attitude has been going on for a long time. So I left. When I was at school in the 50's they told us we could be a nurse or a secretary. The class above us were all sent off to the factory. I felt there was something wrong then, watching people work themselves to death and never having enough to feed their families. To say the white British are lazy is ridiculous. I'd like to see you go down a mine, get black lung disease and die. It was the British Whites who built the country.
Canada House is in Glasgow.
A single mother cannot get a home and that the elderly who fought so that we could be free are living in poverty.

Most of our problems can be blaimed on the E.U. with it's "Human Rights" and the politically correct brigade. How many of us voted to join the E.U.? Actually NONE. We voted to join the Common Market and all the rest has been foisted upon us by various governments without any say being given to the electorate - just like Mr's Brown's "Stealth" taxes and in fact, like Mr. Brown himself who was never elected as Prime Minister.

Well said, Mr. Edmonds. You are voicing what most British people feel but dare not say for fear of arrest and imprisonment.

Any immigrants who commit a crime should be immediately deported.

I would also like to see prisons here like some of those in Middle Eastern Countries, not the "holiday camps" many of them seem to be. I would only put in prison those who commited violent crimes. The others should be made to work without pay for the benefit of the community. We don't really need more prisons, just tougher ones for the violent criminals.

Like many, I don't know who I will vote for at the next election. (It certainly won't be for Labour). If it were not for the violence and racism, I would consider the BNP and so would many others. They are the only party who truly supports the indigenous population.

Our lives have been made total misery by immigrants. They have moved en masse into our community and turned it into a ghetto almost. They congregate on the street corners shouting and drinking and pile rubbish into the back alleys. They drive down our avenue like lunatics and have had six cars crushed because they weren't taxed. They have hit two cars in the avenue (mine included) and tried to deny it. Their children do not attend school and have turned the avenue into a noisy playground. I could go on forever but suffice it to say that one family has sold up and gone because of them and others are considering it. We have involved the local police, various council representatives and still the landlord of the house concerned is allowed to continue letting it. There are upwards of 30 of them arrive some nights and probably about 15 of them living in each house. None of them work either. Unfortunately these immigrants make no positive contribution to our community.

Simply put. The three main parties do not represent the indigenous population. We want controlled immigration if required. We want British doctors and nurses not ones from overseas countries depleting their healthcare. Just this week we discover a Muslim 'mafia' at the highest level of the Met. Aided and abetted by crooked lawyers and even an MP or two. Is it any wonder we find it difficult to prosecute terrorists and get a conviction when they have so much support. There is no doubt the HR Act, racial quota laws and positive discrimination laws have to be repealed as well as some system of repatriation introduced. I know for sure how many lazy bones do not want to work, just wanting to leave on hand outs. How come the blame is on immigrants. With such attitude, i can see the society disintegrating and hate propaganda increasing. Everyone deserves respect, a right to freedom and a sense of belonging. How can people integrate in a society where people think of their fellow human beings as inferior.This universe belongs to God and i think we are losing the point. Noel should be in government, what he is saying is the feeling of most people in the UK, the only problem is his opinions which are great would be squashed by the present system and the people running it.
Being in Europe is`nt a bad thing on the contrary it has to be, to enable one to compete in a Global market, but there has to be a different system in Europe also, one that works for the people.
These employees of the folk (politicians) in the UK & main land Europe are just interested mainly in one thing...Making sure their pension and pay is enough to keep them in an extremly comfortable position now and in the future come what ever! And this is why they are really only instruments of Industry.
I think one should either pay politicians much more money so they are not any longer on the boards of directors of companies, but must do a 100% job representing the people who elect them.
Or something useful like supporting the middle class sector by becoming Entrepreneurs creating jobs for poeple in the companies they have because they are such brilliant do`ers of the things they do, or so they try to make us belive.
I would suggest before we go to vote or not vote, that everyone goes out side of there home on 28 October at exactly 21:00hrs turning the lights out also and then light a candle and we have five minutes to show our consolidation about wanting to changing our system.

England isn't England any more. If immigration does not come to a complete HALT NOW our way of life is heading for collapse. These immigrants illegal and legal live in their own areas - live by there own customs - speak there own language and we change our laws to accommodate them. I totally agree. I live in Los Angeles and use to visit London on a regular basis - now hardly ever as I don't recognize the place. Last time I was there I thought I was in the wrong country - Eastern Europeans everywhere speaking their lingo - Heathrow looked like an airport in the Middle East - nothing but radical religous nuts - and the English put up with it. England has lost it's identity - it's not English anymore and it's not for the English - to get any public assistance you have to have a foreign accent and not beable to speak English. God forbid if you nead health care - the NHS has gone to pot because of the abuse. Well all I can say is "GOOD LUCK'" IF NOTHING IS DONE SOON - THERE WILL BE NO GOING BACK.

Just add my support to the thrust of Noel's point. We need people in the public eye like Noel and J Clarkson to put this message about immigration in the public domain. It is surely time for sensible policies on immigration to be forced upon our politicians - and if that takes TV personalities, all well and good.

Of course nothing can be done to correct the problems of immigration while we remain subservient to the EU, with its bizarre rules.

We need to recognise the stranglehold we are in, caused by the EU, and sort that out if we are ever to be able to make sense of immigration levels.

At least Noel won't have a big audience on Sky. No-one elected him tribune of the people, and as far as I can see, his views, whilst being in print and so on, are mere amplifications of those held by the denizens of certain pubs, and not nice pubs at that. Since much of Mr. Edmonds' time is spent at his home in France, it would be a welcome counterfactual thought that were the borders shut, he'd be caught on the French side of them. He should pay his TV licence though, to avoid sponging off the country. I grant that it is part of a TV celebrity's job spec to do so,but am worried that his principled stance may add weight to the spurious claims of others claiming TV Licence exemption,who aver that Sky TV and its minions are the only channels they clock, and indeed prefer.

Reading the letters sent it appears that those against Noel are those from the "politcally correct brigade" or do not live in the real world.The law with asylum seekers is that they go to the first country where they will not be persecuted, so why do so many cross several boarders which cost them thousands of pounds to go to England, where do they get this money from in the first place. Some one wrote that they bring money into England , I disagree most of the money they get go's back to their country. They want all the laws changed WHY they left their own country because of their laws why do they want the same in the Uk.

Every country I have been to fly their flag with pride They are saying this is my country, if you want to come here don't be upset by our laws WE ARE PROUD TO BE WHO WE ARE. You go Noel..... I am totally in agreement with you on these issue's and it is time that we the general public made it clear to all sectors of the goverment, that we will no longer stand for it.
Brown needs to grow a back bone and stand up to europe and say NO enough is enough and as for Cameron the rich guy who has no idea what it is like to struggle to make ends meet, he needs to spend time in the real world.
Our goverment is no good to any one in the uk unless you are an imigrant regardless of race colour or creed.
Close those boarder, concentrate on what we need as a country never mind what anyone else thinks.

I totally agree with Noel 100% and to call people racist just because we have agreed with the problems that he has highlighted is ludicrous.

Millions of British people have an immigrants way back in their family but we have to be realistic, our island is not big enough. Immigrants who came here in the late thirties, forties, fifties, etc had to fend for themselves and there were certainly no handouts such as housing, large sums of money, cars etc. Also they did not bring in violence. Many immigrants have sought asylum here to supposedly escape the violence in their country and then once here want to create that same violence here.

The government is a joke, in fact all the main parties are a joke and as for the BNP well there policies are too extreme. I don't have the answer but do believe we need a party that is strong and is going to put the Great back into Britain. They could start with disbanding the PC brigade and Human Rights act, if Europe does not like it then maybe it is time to reconsider our EU membership.

What do you think about Noel Edmonds' comment? Is there any way we could ask him if his grandparents or ancestors might have gone to colonise Africa and left some of their offspring - the immigrants' ancestors - behind? What about all the resources the colonisers stole which 'his' pompous 'white english' England was built on, without which he would be without socks and shoes today? touche i hear your point mate. you see it is easy to divert the attention from the "truth" see. you do have an immigration problem but the government will feed you this line so they blame them for crime, nhs,housing and all other ills.we have seen it all here.
it needs to be controlled but migrants bring diversity. as for airheads who say "they take our jobs" there are policies in place that state that you should prove that you advertised vastly for a post and there were no eu takers before it is offered to foreigners. also research shows that most of these immigrants work in care homes and industries and yet it is still short stuffed in those areas. so i leave those people with one question would they go out and do the job of cleaning up after the elderly empty catheter bags and stomach bags or are they happy to be on benefits and moan about everything. as for noel he lives outside his beloved country yet he moans. what a hypocrite!

So why is it that nothing ever changes? What needs to be focused on is a way of changing our immigration problem because the government obviously don’t give a dam.

I wish I knew what the answer was but I don’t.

Travel is great and I believe that everybody should travel and be able to experience different countries for two or three years (By working in which ever country their in and funding their own travel). I’m not a racist I think we live in a wonderful world with some great cultures. But our little island is sinking and it’s time for change.

Reading all the comments made, it is obvious that most people agree with noel. I notice some of those who dissagree have not read the article properly or seen noel hq.

Noel did not say send all foregners home. nor was he blaming foregners for knife crimes.
For many foregners who have lived here for many years, theyve worked here, paid tax & national insurance here and this is now home to them.
I am sure most brits would be happy for these people to stay.
Its the criminals, illegalls & freeloaders that need to go.

heres how i see it,
immigrants are welcome here by our government to do jobs supposedly us brits wont do.
obviously the jobs we dont want to do are the lowest paid say £180 a week , for that they get education for their children free health care , a place to live and the best of them all was we pay peoples kids child benefit while their kids live abroad, amazing. and all for say £15 a week and £12 a weejk national insurance.
having immigrants here is not cost effective and we are being lied to by our government.

Probably because they are so detached from modern day society, locked away in their country retreats. I totally agree with what Noel is saying, but has anyone realised that the only ones disagreeing are the immigrants ( legal or otherwise ). After all, who would want to be removed out of a land of Milk and Honey when they could get everything for nothing ??
If we went to another land, be it Poland, Saudi Arabia or Australia, we would have to abide by the way they run the country, and NOT expect the natives of said country to bend over backwards to accomodate our wants, and even set up our own courts so we can live by our own laws.

im an american living in london and i have to say, the english need to monitor their borders before whats happening in the US will happen here.

the english let me move here because my family have the money to live quite well without benefits, we are all business people working for international firms, thats why we are here.

I have not bought a tv license for 25yrs and I watch tv almost every day.I buy lots of new tv sets,top boxes,video recorders,dvd players.I return any tv enquiry forms to Tv licensing telling them I watch Tv daily and have no intentions of buying a Tv license.ALSO I advise them I charge £2 to receive any letters and £5 for replies.Home visits are welcome by arrangement for a £30 fee.The last time a Tv inspector came he said "a search warrant would be cheaper" so I said go and get one then.

At last someone who is popular enough to be heard saying what the country has been saying for years. Of course the Government will not listen, they do not have a logical thought in their heads. Gordon Brown was not a bad Chancellor in the early days but then he lost the plot. he has never found the plot as PM. His current Chancellor was no good in in Work And Pensions. No good in Transport. Which is probably why he has been made Chancellor. I dare not even start on Harriot Harman the Home Secretary (or Secretary for Women and sod the rest). Ihave always said get rid of the Government and employ the top Industialists with the sole job of running Great Britain PLC, then watch the changes in the NHS, Local Governmemnt, The Police and the Armed Forces. I could go on for hours but as long as people like Noel Edmonds, for whatever reason, is willing to put himself in the fireing line then I for one will back him. indeed I would go further I would phisically help him if required.

I get so annoyed when i hear people say british are lazy or dont want to do dirty jobs, yes there maybe some brits that dont want to work but there are also foregn people here that dont want to work too. I know some british people who would be glad of getting a chance of working hard & getting their hands dirty if only employers would give them a chance. But employers would rather employ foregn workers because the employer get a handout from the government for employing foregn workers. Until recently i worked for a company that employed around 400 staff, approx 50% were polish. Most of the time when more workers were required they were brought in from poland. Many were un-skilled workers. Jobs wernt advertised in the jobcentre or newspapers. maybe the government handout had something too do with this?

The idea of a multi-racial country just doesnt work as some countries dont get on. I live in a area where there are often trouble between different foregn minorities.

when you go to a motorway cafe & you ask for a coffee & the assistant cant understand you, isnt that a little bit annoying?

Bring all call centre's back to Britain, It would be nice if they can understand me & i can understand them.

Incidently I am no-way racist. I have many none British friends. strangely enough, they dont like whats happening here either.

Noel is right especially on ridiculous council bureaucracy. Have the councils in Britain gone mad? We fine a single mum £700 with costs for putting her rubbish out on the wrong day but a killer driver gets an £85 fine???????
Make the BBC take adverts instead of asking us to pay for a licence the money from which they squander anyway.
Build more prisons and if you are caught carrying a knife you automatically get 5 years with no parole. If you use the knife you get 10 years with no parole and if you murder someone you get a full life sentence with no parole. Life should mean life! It wouldn't take long for people to put away their knives if they new they would be spending at least 5 years in prison.
With regard to the overburdoned NHS get rid of the freeloading NHS managers and only allow those people who have contributed to tax and National Insurance for a minimum of 6 consecutive months be allowed to benefit from the NHS service. Our immigration borders should be the same as the USA and Australia.
I recently watched a film where Robin Williams played the role of a comedian who beacme the President of the USA. Well we have the comedians already running this country but be careful Brown, Cameron and Clegg, it may not belong before the UK show their resentment to your policies and vote for someone like Noel who might stand for parliament and actually be interested in the country that they govern and not just lining their own pockets.

I totally agree with Noel. I am a 48 year old plasterer who has worked in the construction industry since leaving school and have had enough of our sites being flooded with Eastern Europeans. Our rates of pay are being cut to accomodate these people who cant even do the job. There are now more Polish immigrants in Great Britain than Welsh people. Enough is enough, close the borders now.

It looks to me as though a ew people have already confused Noels comments with a form of racism. As he said " you can only fit so many people in a lift".

This isn't about creed, colour, or religion - it's about a country bursting at the seems and struggling to survive.

Yes, we're British, and we pride ourselves on maintaining a "stiff upper lip" in the face of adversity, but it's time for everyone, across all ethnic, political, and religious groups to realise that the UK just can't suport any more.

Our economy is failing, our health service is struggling to "manipulate" the figures, our housing requirements are horrendous, and we just have to accept that we can't take any more.

Maybe we should look at the reasons why the UK is targeted by immigrants and try to deter them that way. Could it be that the British reputation as the land of milk and honey of yesteryear continues to attract people today?

Britain is most certainly not, to me, a land of milk and honey any more.

Time for a change? Yes. Who will do it? £$%* knows!

yes noel enough is enough,the goverment as sold us out. they should be thrown out too. i feel i am in a foreign country, i go to the market and hear different laungues. afraid to leave my home at night, fear for my children and grandchildren. what have they to come with our country so overcrowded on such a small island. nhs , schools ,housing, overcrowded prisons,policing, i could go on and on. we are just being drained.my own father who is 76 said its too late now to rectify the goverments mistakes. even a lot of carehomes the old people are loosing dignity. we do need to make our voices heard we have stayed quiet far too long, keep up the good work noel.

Lets hope Noel is allowed to air all of his views without being supressed. Why cant we be like the U.S and Australia, they have a points system which will show the applicant to be a law abiding citizen with a career before they are let in. We let people in with no career prospects and very often a violent criminal record. They are given a home and benefits. While we have our own homeless people living in card board boxes on the streets.

my wife is Russian and would never wish to live off the state she is in full time employment but like many other people here she is exploited and earns a low wage even though she is a qualified doctor in Russian.
she cannot beleive what is happening here and it's a big culture shock to her. people living off the state and not even trying to get a job. and those that come to this country doing the same. it's about time Immigration got things under control once and for all.

the trouble too in our country we have so many that moan and groan but do nothing about it when they can. they find time to go for a pint or cash the unemployment giro but not the time to VOTE.
crime is out of control and some of the blame must go to the silly laws that have been made over the years. school cane banned. cannot smack your child if they do wrong. soft laws.criminals have evrything in jail. the police don't have the powers and it's often the motorist who gets hit the hardest. no disipline at home and even the school teachers cannot do a thing
Kids know they can get away with murder. and many parents just could not give a monkeys and have no regard for what their kids get up to so we will have idiots breeding idiots they will grow up the same.
the tax payer of course will pay for them .

Thats what I like to hear,someone who is not scared to say it out loud.Most are too scared to say what they think for fear of being called a racist.Why cant the powers that be see what they are doing to our once awesome country.The natives are leaving in droves and in a few decades the country will be full of nothing but immigrants.
Its a crying shame.I got out 10 years ago and came to Australia but my heart is still in the UK and it is breaking at what is happening "back home."
NOEL,START A POLITICAL PARTY ,it sounds like youd have plenty of followers.Someone has to take the bull by the horns and stop this madness!

We live in a Society overrun by criminals and immigrants. I fear for our childrens future in a Country that will either become a Muslim state or descend further into lawless anarchy.
Why are you thought to be a radical for wanting a country where people can live and work safely.
Where people can practice their religous views without predjudice or imposing their religions on others.
Where people who live in the UK have to live within our laws, customs and way of life. Not the other way round!
How many people who live in the UK would express their views on immigration, crime and the erosion of our way of life by religous zealots, without the fear of being accused of being racist?
How many people do we all speak to, wish they could escape to live in another part of the world?
There is another option before it is to late.
If the majority of people in Politically correct Britian made their views heard the politicians would have to listen or lose their jobs.
In a democracy Mr Edmunds has the right to state his views and not be persecuted for them. If he is expressing views that the majority share, then these views should be acted on. The minority have the write to peaceful disagreement.
If Mr Edmunds views do represent the majority of people in the UK they must make their opinions heard. We must do this now, or I fear our children will not enjoy a free and safe future in a totalitarian Britain.

Not before time - when are the British people, of whatever ethnicity, going to make a stand. I have worked in education for many years where the Government have slated the school for missing the targets on English and Maths, and yet no consideration was taken that we had a vast number of immigrants who couldn't speak English! We are full. Well done Noel for having the strength to speak out - you have gone up in my estimation 100-fold.

HOORAY! Somebody, at last is taking a stand for this country and its people. I believe that the recession that is about to hit us has alot to do with the volume of immigrants that are in this country. They are putting a massive strain on this country from the economic state, to the strain they are putting on our fantastic health service. They are also forcing alot of people out of jobs. My Husband is a HGV Driver and has been made redundant 3 times this year. In between going for various job interviews, he has signed up with 11 recruitment agencies and since July has worked just 8 full days. Why? Because if a foreign worker will do the job for £5.60 ph, why would they employ my Husband, who is qualified & also has years of experience, to do the job for £9.00 ph? We are not entitled to any benefits because I work, our savings are slowly dwindling away, and I am sure we are not the only family to be finding it extremely tough at the moment. The only ones that are not finding it tough are the immigrants. What they don't spend on the High Street, they are spending in the bars and clubs. Alot of them have Credit Cards, and who will end up paying for their splurges? In one way or another, we ALL will. They are laughing in our faces. Send them ALL home, NOW!

Absolute rubbish. It is of course perfectly if the Brits have the right to settle anywhere they want. Some world citizens are obviously more equal than others.

it's pure common sense, that we are indeed on overload and overcrowded and that there needs to be a sudden halt on immigration. We are pushing everthing to the limit and how can we cope on such a small island.. thing is that the general british have always been a reserved type that do take a blind eye and rather forget and ponder with gardening, but all it takes is a few to start the ball rollling, and noel is the only one that seems to take a big stand on matters in this country, plus he's a good publicity PR machine that can raise media attention and before you know it, his popularity will grow strong, and no... everyone thinks it's racist to talk about immigrants, but it's truth that takes the public view to light... Our MP's that know whats happenning to this country, wouldn't dare speak out in fear of losing a pension and a nice salary, all yes men and now it's time to take hold and change things for the better.... and it will happen
