I tried to kill myself over sex shame Miss

A DISTRAUGHT schoolboy revealed last night he tried to commit suicide after becoming the FIFTH pupil targeted for sex by staff at a scandal-racked school.

The 16-year-old lad was a high-flying student, set for 12 A-grade GCSEs, university and a brilliant career as a vet. But after married teaching assistant Lindsey Jane Collett lured him into a forbidden fling he says: “My life is wrecked. I only got two passes and am now an apprentice plumber.

“Lindsay was grooming me for sex, she used me and she’s sick. I couldn’t cope with the pressure of having to keep her terrible secret and I tried to kill myself with a fistful of pills. When that didn’t work I ran away.”

The boy was speaking after 26-year- old mum-of-two Collett faced a court and admitted a charge of abusing her position of trust.

Astonishingly the affair was at the SAME East Yorkshire comprehensive where THREE teachers have already been exposed for having sex with pupils. Four girl students were victims.

The News of the World revealed how the trio ran a BIBLE CLUB to groom targets. And a shock report has identified a further 11 staff who could have had “inappropriate relationships” with students.

In an emotional interview the latest pupil to have suffered detailed how Collett enticed him into the four-month fling with saucy text messages and a photo of herself in a bra.

The boy said: “I’d only been 16 for a few days when all this began. All I asked for was some help with my coursework on Romeo and Juliet and she was assigned to help me.

“At first I just thought she was very friendly. But within days she was flirting, hugging me and telling me she was in love with me.”

The change came one rainy day when Collett, in a low-cut top, offered the lad a lift home.

As she dropped him off she turned and hugged him. Nervously fiddling with his hair the boy said: “It was only a hug, nothing more, but we connected.

“That kind of thing was all new to me. That night I sent her a message on Facebook saying I was sorry about the car situation. She came straight back and said we had to talk before school on Monday. She gave me her mobile number and we agreed to meet next day at the local swimming pool. When I got there she was in the water with her kids. I felt so awkward I legged it and we met later in a pub.

“My heart was racing. I couldn’t believe she actually had feelings for me. Her kids went into a play area and she held my hand. But when two pupils from school walked in we pulled our hands away and I left.”

Collett then began texting the boy in earnest, up to 20 times a day.

“I couldn’t sleep because I was thinking about it so much,” he said. “We ended up seeing each other every day at school ‘working’ closely together.

“In the light of what happened previously at the school you’d think SOMEONE would have said something. But nobody ever did.

“Lindsay was fancied by loads of kids at school. They’d shout out ‘MILF!’—meaning Mother I’d Like to F***!’ and she loved it.”

The pair also met outside the school grounds. “As Lindsay’s husband worked in the area she was always worried so we went to a park where he wouldn’t see us,” said the lad.

“She picked me up after school and we parked up in her car. It was there she kissed me for the first time. It felt weird but I enjoyed it. We sat in the car kissing and cuddling. I fell in love with her and she told me she loved me. She said she wanted to leave her husband to be with me and have sex.

“She even suggested we move to Cyprus together. It was crazy but I became totally infatuated.

“At school she said she struggled to control her urges. She said, ‘I can’t help myself, I’m going to do things to you.’ She touched me high up on my leg and got very close to my privates. She had keys to every room in the school and we’d meet in different places to cuddle and kiss.

“She was meant to be helping me with my work but I couldn’t get it done. She didn’t do her job—she was only interested in being with me.

“And she constantly warned me never to tell anybody about us. I mentioned the other disgraced teachers and she said, ‘Look what happened to them. It’s my career and I don’t want that to happen to me.’ ”

At Christmas Collett bought the youngster two plastic Transformers toys as a present. And in the New Year she sent the teasing picture of her bust.

The boy said: “She was wearing a bra with pictures of the kids’ TV character SpongeBob Square- Pants on it. She told me to delete it and made me show her the phone to prove it. But I secretly kept it in a back-up file.”

The pressure of keeping it all secret took its toll on the youngster. He said: “I couldn’t concentrate on work, I just couldn’t cope.

Furious

“I was so tired through lack of sleep I started getting beer to knock myself out. I was so scared and depressed. My parents realised something was different but I refused to talk to them. It was out of character and started a rift.

“I’d just come home and go straight to my room. I was also skipping school because I wanted to keep away from what we were doing. I knew it was wrong. I was confused and wanted to end it all.

“One day I found a load of painkiller tablets in the kitchen, went up to my room and shoved about 30 into my mouth. I was going to down them with beer. But my mate came in, realised what I was doing and made me spit them out.

“I was at breaking point. I just cried and cried. That’s when I felt the best thing was to run away. So I went to friends for two weeks.

“But I realised at last I had to confide in an adult.”

Finally on January 29 this year he told his mum’s best friend—and quickly his parents and school chiefs knew everything.

An inquiry was launched and Collett was sacked. She was arrested and cried hysterically as she confessed to magistrates in Bridlington and was handed a six-month conditional discharge.

In the school’s previous scandals two of the teachers, Ian Blott, 55, and Steven Edwards, 35, were jailed for seducing underage girls.

The third teacher Terry Mann, 45, escaped prosecution because the girl moved in with him and refused to co-operate with police. But he was later given a suspended sentence for sexually abusing a child at another school.

The latest victim’s furious father told us: “That woman who targeted my son should be in prison too. She’s an adult and he’s a child. He’s been traumatised.

“This the FOURTH member of staff caught at that school. What is going on? Somebody MUST have seen them. I don’t think lessons have been learnt here.”

A spokesman for East Riding of Yorkshire Council said they had complied with every recommendation from a major inquiry and called on “everyone to be vigilant.”
