I'm the real daddy, Alfie

And I want a DNA test to prove it

A SECOND teenage boy last night claimed HE-and NOT 13-year-old Alfie Patten-is the REAL dad of 15-year-old Chantelle Steadman's newborn baby Maisie.

Richard Goodsell, aged 16, insisted he often shared a bed with Chantelle over a period of THREE MONTHS around the time she fell pregnant-and sensationally demanded a DNA test to PROVE he's the daddy.

Young mum Chantelle and baby-faced 13-year-old Alfie Patten made headlines around the world this week when they told their story, vowing to be good parents to their six-day-old daughter.

But the News of the World can today reveal that as well as second maybe-dad Richard a THIRD lad, 14-year-old Tyler Barker, fears he may have fathered little Maisie.

READ: ALFIE AGREES TO DNA TEST

And amazingly the News Of The World has uncovered claims that Chantelle was sleeping with as many as EIGHT teenage boys around the time the baby was conceived on the Old Town estate in Eastbourne, Sussex.

Richard, a trainee chef, said he had sex at least three times with Chantelle at her home, adding: "I KNOW I could be the father. Everyone thinks I am. My friends all tell me that baby has my eyes- even my mum thinks so.

"Only a DNA test is going to sort this out properly. If I am the father, I have the right to know."

Hope

And anxious schoolboy Tyler admitted: "I slept with Chantelle in her bed about nine months ago and I'm really worried I could be the father.

"I hope it's NOT me. All my mates have been teasing me about it but this isn't funny, it's serious."

Both boys and their parents have made sworn statements in front of a solicitor detailing their nights of sex with Chantelle.

But Chantelle's family insist she lost her virginity to Alfie and 7lb 3oz Maisie-born after a five-hour labour at Eastbourne Hospital-is his.

Four-foot Alfie says the baby was conceived when he was just 12 after a single night of unprotected sex. Chantelle claimed she was on the Pill but forgot to take it.

However, Richard last night challenged that, insisting HE was the first in a series of teenage lovers to go with Chantelle.

"We got together within the first week of her moving here about two years ago," he said.

KIDS IN A TANGLE: Alfie & Chantelle insist he's Maisie's dad-but mates argue
KIDS IN A TANGLE: Alfie & Chantelle insist he's Maisie's dad-but mates argue

"She was 13 and I was 14. We dated after meeting at the local shops and I liked her. I thought she was pretty. I used to stay overnight at her house on Fridays and Saturdays.

"We used to sleep in the same bed and within two weeks we'd had full sex. It was in her bedroom while her mum was downstairs.

"We didn't use any contraception. It wasn't my first time. But when we split up I found out that she was having sex with lots of other boys I knew.

"Me and my mates fell out over it." Richard then reeled off a list of 14 and 15-year-old boys who, he claims, slept with Chantelle.

The teenager - who is studying catering at Sussex Downs College - claimed: "To be honest, any one of my mates could be the dad.

"Even Chantelle's mum asked me if I was the father.

"Alfie is saying he's definitely the dad-but we're not so sure.

"I was Chantelle's closest friend and she said I could be part of the baby's life if I wanted.

"She wanted me to be there as a father figure but I didn't fancy that because I have college early in the morning and I didn't want to get up in the night to feed the baby.

"Now though, I just want to face up to it and know the truth."

Richard's mother Barbie-Jayne, 35, backs his story. She has five kids and was a teenager when she gave birth to Richard.

Last night she proudly boasted of twice appearing on TV's Trisha show as a guest on programmes about having an overbearing personality and overactive sex life.

The third lad in the frame, Tyler, also alleged Chantelle bedded a string of teenagers-a claim she denies. He told us: "There's a huge question mark over who the real father is. There's every chance it could be me-but I hope it's not.

"Having sex with her was the worst mistake I've ever made in my life. I wish I'd never met her.

"To be honest I didn't really fancy her. She asked me out a couple of times when she moved down here but I kept turning her down. I thought she was ugly.

"Now I'm terrified that I could be the daddy, and I'm not the only one.

"There are at least five other boys that I know who were all sleeping with her around that time. They're all now wondering, 'Is it me?'

"It was routine for boys to stay over with her in her bed.

"But I only slept with her the once. It was on a Sunday last May shortly after my 14th birthday and it was in her room.

"The next morning at 8.30am, when she should have been going to school, she was helping tidy the house and look after her baby brother.

'TERRIFIED' Tyler, 14
'TERRIFIED' Tyler, 14

"I didn't go to school either and before I left, she told me, 'If you keep it a secret, you can keep coming back for more.' Those were her exact words."

Tyler's dad, Chris Ireland, 44, said: "I had no idea Tyler was round at Chantelle's house because he was meant to be with a mate.

"But when it came out that she was pregnant he came to see me and confessed he HAD slept with her.

"It was about nine months ago and we were very worried. He told me he had full sex with her and I was thinking, 'Oh God, he can't be the father.'

I even had a proper chat with him about his responsibilities and about what he'd have to do if he was the dad.

"But it turns out there are quite a lot of boys who've been with her. Alfie Patten is just one of them.

Only a DNA will determine the truth but I don't think they're about to have one."

Chris, who runs the Eastbourne Utd Colts Under-15 football team, added: "There's not a lot for young lads to do round here. They all hang around in groups of guys and girls on the streets-it's a cocktail for disaster.

"My football team are a good bunch of lads but it only keeps them off the streets three days a week."

Chris also claimed that Chantelle's mother Penny and Richard's mother Barbie-Jayne were embroiled in a huge row in the street several months ago.

Grim

He claimed: "Babs and Penny had this noisy altercation after it was discovered that Chantelle was pregnant.

"It was over rumours that the father of the baby was Babs' son Richard."

Young Tyler's own mother left six years ago. With a history of anger management problems he was permanently excluded from school for three months but is about to restart his education.

As he detailed his own concerns he painted a grim picture of life on the Old Town estate-with appalling parallels to Channel 4 comedy drama show Shameless.

The only difference is the total absence of anything remotely funny.

Here's an idea, if you dont want your 14 year old daughter pregnant, hows about you dont let boyfriends stay overnight in the same bed with her? Or is that too obvious?

Who's the daddy....

By Bob London.. Posted February 15 2009 at 9:55 AM.

It's obvious that Sex Education still isn't getting the word across to kids at schools in this country.

By Iona.. Posted February 15 2009 at 10:01 AM.

I heard about this story the other day on the radio and was shocked and quite angry as I know someone who cannot have children. Im 16 yrs old and about to do my G.C.S.E.'s and I dont have any babies! its scary to think that these two children can bring up a baby. Id be devastated to become pregnant at such a young age, but then again it shows that people do know what contraception is. I mean, do they remember that there is nappies to change, feeds and getting up in the middle of the night when the little one is crying and hungry. She has just become another statistic and giving more ammunition for people to slate this country!

It just goes to show you can't be too careful.

By funkstar.. Posted February 15 2009 at 10:08 AM.

Why do people claim that these problems are the fault of 'society' and 'the government'. What and who is 'society'?! Whom does 'the government' represent?!
Instead of looking around for someone else to blame people need to accept and fulfil their OWN responsibilities!

By donek.. Posted February 15 2009 at 9:16 AM.

@Ally - sorru, but it IS the parents fault. The reason I didn' get drunk on street corners etc etc when I was a teenager is because there is no way I'd have got away with that kind of behaviour with my parents. A bloody good hiding would have been the least of the repercussions. Kids do want they want now (or in this case seem to be allowed to do what they want) as they don't fear the consequences from their parents/guardians. If Chantelles parents are allowing boys to spend the night with her, and the boys parents are letting them spend the night away at such young ages, what do they really think is going to happen?

By Danielle.. Posted February 15 2009 at 9:24 AM.

well personally i would be sick to have sex at that age even protected but all i can say is feel really sorry for that baby and whoever the parents are they should give it a great life xx

By anonymous.. Posted February 15 2009 at 9:28 AM.

society is to blame as well as the parents,if all the do gooders hadnt banged on about everyones human rights and done away with discipline at school kids might have grown up with a few morals and standards, instead of the i can do what i want society we have today.

By paul.. Posted February 15 2009 at 9:39 AM.

theres only one word to describe this ...... Shameless

By howard.. Posted February 15 2009 at 9:48 AM.

this story sickens me to the heart. being a mother myself, Every day is a struggle bringing up your children in this current sad society that we live in. why are the parents not educating their children how can you allow such youngsters to behave in such a way. And trust me youngsters they surely are.. What people will do for money is beyond belief.. Shame on you. I feel sorry for the baby.. she will suffer when she grows up. poor mite..

By Spartacus.. Posted February 15 2009 at 8:47 AM.

Everyone is so quick to blame the parents, its not always the parents fault,we have all seen the kids in gangs hanging around.
Drinking booze, get so drunk they cant stand, who is to blame for that, shop keepers selling then alcohol and adults going in and buying it for them.
Then as the kids say "getting into her" they dont care who they sleep with, and the girls are just as bad as the boys.
So whose fault is it...societys

This is such a cute story...

By Leroy Brown.. Posted February 15 2009 at 7:57 AM.

Why is everyone surprised by this?, News break.....i left the UK 25 years ago and guess what? it was happening then too...... parents then were not so keen to have it broadcasted across the media as these guys are, then it was kept quiet and family rallied round and helped. Its not just a UK thing its happening everywhere so stop blaming the govt and for Gods sake someone please start teaching these kids to be responisible for their own actions.......

By jay oz.. Posted February 15 2009 at 7:50 AM.

By julie.. Posted February 15 2009 at 7:36 AM.

To dw: are you insane? What has david cameron got to do with it?! Its the fault of the so-called parents failing to raise their children properly! People need to start taking personal responsibility for their own lives instead of blaming others...THAT is what is wrong with today's society.

By A.. Posted February 15 2009 at 6:51 AM.

Anyone else think this could turn out like the scene in
Spartucus where they all claim to be him.
Lots of 13 to 16 year olds all standing up claiming i'm
the Daddy!

By Ray.. Posted February 15 2009 at 6:30 AM.

That poor baby, a 15 year old mother, and at least 3 teenage boys claiming to be her dad, it isnt the best start in life, this world is hard enough to grow up in without all these complications, my heart goes out to her,
it wont be long before we hear that this "record" has been broken by someone even younger, what people do to get into the limelight, society !!!!!!!!!

By Joyce.. Posted February 15 2009 at 6:27 AM.

I wonder how many of the young lads that have apparently been with Chantelle will now keep their body parts in their trousers till older, lets hope its taught them a lesson.
It seems that both families are revelling in the media attention. I feel so sorry for the baby, she would be better taken into care.

By D.. Posted February 15 2009 at 6:22 AM.

If Paul Keating was and ALP still in power , our Aussie kids will be the same as those in Sussex .
The reason is because when a society is full of adults that rely on handouts , how can they teach their children well?
In the pasy , under ALP , young teenagers waiting to get their social allowances and drop out of school
after finished year 10 which is around the age of 16 years old and is eligible to claim their social security and even claim extra if they live away from home.

what career paths do they have or will they want to learn a skill ?

I dont understand why the girl's parents allowed young boys to visit and stay overnight? strange parents produce strange kids .

In very near future , within a year or so , we will see
this society gradually changing to similar as Sussex

By yan young.. Posted February 15 2009 at 6:02 AM.

i agree it is the mothers fault!!!

i am 17 years old and ahve been with my boyfriend for aver two years and my mother still does not let us sleep in the same room...

If its true how can Chantelles mother allow her to sleep with so many boys - it really beggars belief. Obviously she has been very well brought up - NOT

By florence.. Posted February 15 2009 at 5:05 AM.

I agree with some of the comments said. Her mother should be ashamed of herself, and made to be unfit to look after anyone. It is us ADULTS that should protect and nurture our children. SHE CHANTELLE'S MOTHER IS AT FAULT.The system isn"t!!!!!!!!

By helen_@2009live.com.au.. Posted February 15 2009 at 4:49 AM.

that is what every teenager needs, a kid, and britain'd be great again...hiihihihi

By marshal.. Posted February 15 2009 at 4:43 AM.

Hey, T ROLL, are you sure - just the govt and our society - not the kids?

By really?.. Posted February 15 2009 at 4:26 AM.

The whole story is quite tacky and unsavoury. Missing dads with nine children, fights in streets, teenage pregnancies, poor school attendance, anger management, welfare. And they're breeding!

By Linda.. Posted February 15 2009 at 4:17 AM.

What a shame, I read the whole story and comments, I think Law and whatever govt. allows and gives too much freedom to underage kids thats why the knife and gun culture and teenage parenthood rate increasing very rapidly. I think new and tough laws for the underage kids should bring in UK and peoples specially elders of the family and parents start educating themselves and try to change the taboo of society then eduacte kids about sex and crime. In UK everyone specially kids can easily get Condoms and pills in school and govt. thinks that they going to reduce the teenage pregnancy but on other side these things giving the guidelines of underage sex. I think Underage sex must be ban in UK and some heavy amount of penlty for the parents should be impose. This is the only way I think Birtain can overcome this problem.

By syed.. Posted February 15 2009 at 3:40 AM.

yes everyone is entitled to one mistake, but most of these young girls go on to have 3 to 4 and the goverment pay them no wonder they keep producing like rabbits.yes pay them to look after one but any more and they should not receive any extra benefits.we are becoming a nation of single mothers and they are all getting younger, also they should realise the younger you have sex the more chance of getting cervical cancer also std,s.i partly blame the goverment for making it so easy for these girls to get money and homes for no contribution what so ever.

By joy kelleher.. Posted February 15 2009 at 3:38 AM.

It just goes to show, you can't be too careful.

By Ian Cognito.. Posted February 15 2009 at 3:22 AM.

this is wrong kids having kids ,the parents of these children should be ashamed not letting them giving interviews to papers,i have a boy if he come home and told me he was going to be a dad at 13 i would not be giving my support, and i think all these comments should be printed in the paper for all to see, this baby should be give to real parents people of age to have children, and make the grandparents pay for the baby not tax payers.

By caz.. Posted February 15 2009 at 3:21 AM.

She sounds like a right slag. What was her mother doing whilst she was having sex with all these boys? Its no wonder she's turned out the way she has when her own parents refuse to take responsibility for her like a good parent should.

By Anna.. Posted February 15 2009 at 3:11 AM.

how on earth can these children vow to be good parents to this little baby, they cant live together in a loving relationship, they cant work , they both have to go to school, and they will want to play with there mates, the young man will soon lose interest in this situation and will soon move on leaving this young girl to soldier on probably with the help of her family, i would like to know how this works out in a couple of years time.

By andy.. Posted February 15 2009 at 2:32 AM.

just want to say that you can blame all you like and it will not make a difference to Chantelle Steadman who is now a statistic in the UK goverment as a young parent, we were all young once and made mistakes i know i did so how about people in her area start helping and maybe parents put there heads together and help the young kids of today. stop talking about the problem and start talking about the solution???
Chantelle Steadman you take care of yourself and the baby and try and be a good parent..

By OZ.. Posted February 15 2009 at 2:14 AM.

Breeding like rabbits leads to your own kids doing the same. Remember contraception being invented? Why don't people take responsibility for their actions? And if young Chantelle was determined to sleep with all the young studs in town, why the hell didn't her family see to it she was on the pill? It's called taking care of your kids (so they don't have ones of their own when they are still babies themselves).

By pat.. Posted February 15 2009 at 1:49 AM.

I blame the Conservatives for this breakdown in social morals. They keep going on and on and on about 'broken Britain' and it's just encouraging young people to live up to the stereotype. David Cameron has a lot to answer for.

By dw.. Posted February 15 2009 at 1:42 AM.

THE BLAME LIES RIGHT AT THE FEET OF THE PARENTS OF THESE TEENS. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THEY SET A VERY BAD EXAMPLE.

By florence.. Posted February 15 2009 at 1:36 AM.

"It's obvious that the real blame for this lies on society and the government."

This is just the kind of attitude that creates these problems. The lack of personal responsibility among both adults and children in the UK today is shocking. Where were this girls parents when they were allowing all these boys to sleep over at night? If blame is to be attributed, even ascribing it to the parents seems ill-judged, since thousands of young girls from similar homes and backgrounds don't fall pregnant at such a young age. If eight Eastbourne teenagers were sharing this girl's bed simultaneously, then I think it is pretty clear that one certain young woman is whollly responsible for the conception and birth of this baby.

By P. Madigan.. Posted February 15 2009 at 1:31 AM.

I cant believe this sort of thing goes on. The mothers to blame for sure, but they all play a key part. This just shows what situation the country is in right now!

By Rick Tawpain.. Posted February 15 2009 at 1:30 AM.

It runs in the family. Like they say a leaopard never changes its spots. Its not the goverments fault at all. I think its more about social class and immorality rather than the education. Education and contraceptives will always be there. I would call them the worst parents in the world. How can you nip this in the bud when the parents fail to discuss these matters with their kids?

If this happened in my family I would hang my head in shame and run 2000 miles. The promiscuity of a girl her age just shows how shameless society is becoming.

By Rumel.. Posted February 15 2009 at 1:28 AM.

Its the Governments fault?? Erm where were the parents when this was all happening? I have a 13 yr old son and Hell would freeze over before him and a female friend were left to their own devices for that long that they would be able to have sexual intercourse!!

By debs ramsay.. Posted February 15 2009 at 12:59 AM.

The real blame lies with the girl's mother for allowing boys to stay the night in her daughter's bedroom. What does she think they are doing? playing cards.....
