WITH a menacing glare, Wayne Rooney stares straight down the barrel of a camera lens—seconds before he allegedly SPITS at a snapper.

Moments after this pic was taken, the fiery England and Manchester United striker is said to have "gobbed" on the back of paparazzo Lee Simmons, 21.

Rooney was quizzed but not arrested by cops, on suspicion of common assault.

Flipped

He is said to have flipped after he and new wife Coleen, both 22, left the swish Hakassan restaurant, West London, and waited in a side alley for their car.

An onlooker said: "They seemed to come outside because they'd been arguing inside.

"Coleen instantly got on her phone, and the two weren't talking. It was then that a picture was taken, and Wayne became very aggressive. He started giving the photographer abuse. He was incredibly angry."

Snapper Lee said: "I took one shot which seemed to trigger Wayne. He spat on me as I retreated."

Rooney was quizzed later that night at Charlotte Street Hotel, where he and Coleen—his wife of two months—were staying.

Lee's shirt has been sent away to be tested for DNA evidence. Inquiries are continuing.
