Married twins a mystery

THE mystery of the twins separated at birth who married each other deepened last night when Britain's top family judge said he'd never heard of the case.

The story of the couple -who did not know they were sister and brother -was used by anti-abortion campaigner Lord Alton to highlight the lack of birth information made available to children.

He claimed the tale was told to him by a High Court judge who annulled the marriage "within the last twelve months".

But Sir Mark Potter , president of the High Court Family Division for the last two years, said: "This is the first I have heard of it.

"I know of neither any judge who presided over such a case nor of the case itself."
