The shocking figures were revealed to MPs this week as the NHS moved to FINE hospitals over bungled ops and other medical errors.
For the first time every serious error in patient care will have to be officially reported as part of a new drive to cut the deadly toll. NHS bosses have drawn up a "never list" of serious mistakes which medics will now have to report. These include:
CARRYING out the wrong operation on patients
PUTTING the wrong tubes into them
LEAVING instruments in after ops
GIVING patients the wrong drugs
LETTING women bleed to death after caesarean ops
FAILING to put up bars to stop patients falling out of bed
Professor Richard Thomson, from Newcastle University's institute of health and society, said the most reliable evidence showed around 10 per cent of patients admitted to hospital suffered "harm" because of treatment.
The number of overall DEATHS caused by medical care going wrong was far from clear-but some estimates put it at up to 40,000 a year, he told the Commons Health Committee.
But the figures were based on limited reports with relatively small numbers, He added: "A definitive study is needed to address the size of this problem and to identify priorities for action."

Essential Oil of Oregano has been proved to kill MRSA. Make a spray and use it in hospital. Shake well before use to dispel the drops. Look online where to buy it.

My mother died directly as a result of the inappropriate action of the doctors handling her condition.
I was made to suffer a second heart attack because all the beds had been sold to private patients.
Patients were left to die in neighbouring beds, as the junior doctors in attendance, were unable to manage the patients condition.
Nursing staff were always fantastic, though heavily curtailed by regulations.

I have a back injury after an accident, NO painkiller works,2yrs later I cannot feel most of right leg or foot. Told by my hosp to go away & deal with it I am only 42. My gp disgusted as Ive tried everything to help myself, paid for physio/other complimentry therapies NONE provided my my local NHS which has cost me thousands. Had 2nd opinion but as he 'pals' with the original surgeon I was told Im not trying enough(the MRI says diff) medical records then 'disappeared' then to cap it all after being rushed to hosp cos of further complications.I advised hosp of severe allergy(to Tramadol)had red wristband which staff took no notice of,I queried injections when being given & started vomiting up blood,I was then left by the door(bearing in mind I cannot walk & in severe pain)in a wheelchair by the door & sent home,my parents insisted I shouldnt but to no avail my gp came straight round & found out the next day I'd given the very thing I was allergic to 3 times in 45 mins! also given 6 things in total BUT their record only state 5.Sadly not the only one at this hosp who has been poorly treated. wanted to complain & stop it happening to other people but was advised by someone at hosp it would jepordise any 'fair' treatment and in any case there are 4 levels of complaint that can take ages. I am still considering it but as I'm in so much pain its an effort to try and get through each day without wanting not to......

My grandad had his stitches taken out after a major stomach op even though he had chronic emphysema and should have had them in for longer. It was only noticed when he went to show my nan his scar and his insides were completely exposed under his cover. He was rushed back in to surgery and died of complications 2 days later. Disgusting!!!!
