UK Debt hits £2000 a second as Brown keeps spending AND promises tax cuts
BRITAIN'S debt is rocketing by almost £2,000 a second, saddling every family with the equivalent of £70,000 second mortgage.
But PM Gordon Brown and Chancellor Alistair Darling are still vowing to SPEND, SPEND, SPEND their way out of recession.
They also want to slash taxes to help low-paid workers through the hard times ahead.
But Tory leader David Cameron, writing exclusively in the News of the World, warned: "This government has maxed out our nation's credit card- and they want to keep on spending by getting another."
Labour will unveil their plans at the Pre-Budget Report pencilled in for November 19 -when Treasury figures seen by the News of the World will show that:
- BRITAIN'S gross debt is forecast to be at least £679 billion by April.
- DEBT has soared by £63 billion in the past year -and is going up by £1,960 every second.
- FALLING tax receipts have left a massive hole in public finances.
It all means that, once the government's pension liability, public finance initiative spending and bank bailouts are taken into account, every family will be lumbered with future government debts equal to another £70,000 mortgage.
Yet it could be even worse than that. The government will have to vastly revise its forecasts after borrowing £37.6 billion in the first six months of the year-the highest amount since World War Two.
But Brown, left, and Darling are refusing to rein in government spending. Instead they are going on a spree, splurging on massive government projects, including energy, housing, hospitals and schools.
And the PM wants to bring in a raft of cuts, such as extending the £2.7 billion of tax breaks to compensate low-paid workers hit by the disastrous decision to axe the 10p tax rate.
THE Tories were 13 points ahead in a new ICM opinion poll last night-with 43 per cent against Labour's 30 per cent.

My children can not get a dentist,my wife had to wait 7 days to visit her doctor,this government are bringing in law after law and underfunding the laws that are already inforce,how can hospitals cut waiting time when hospital are closeding down,services are being underfunded .Gordon we have a very high crime rate because prison is no longer a punishment ,because prison is easy ,Let the Army take over the prison services,crime would fall,Lets fund the police,social services,hospitals,lets put all profit from the bbc into these services instead of paying Rose ,and co millions ,offers discount private health to people that want them,stop imigrants now ,today ,bleeding ,this country dry.stop waisting money on bombs and wars,that we do not need,bring punishement back into schools.if we carry on the way we are going we are not going to have a world,the only people that are going to suffer is our children in years to come

before anyone starts to moan about Gordon Brown and labour need i remind anyone about the mess the tories put us in. the 1million plus job losses in 18 months following the ERM fiasco, and not to mention 30,000 miners jobs at the stoke of a pen. i`m a car painter and i`ll tell anyone reading this that i`ve done better under labour than anything the tories had to offer. they used to say if labour got in power millionaires would flee the country in droves because of higher taxes. well if the tories get back in i`ll be fleeing the country.

Bankruptcy here we come! This is the mentality of communism! Lets take away everything from those who work hard and give it away to those that don't & those that work for the state. As long as their combined numbers are near a majority then they will vote for this rabble of a government and things will continue. England should be governed only by those born & bred here (irrespective of ancestry) for at least 3 generations. Scotland has its own parliament & not 1 english person has ever been elected there or employed within its ranks. we need the same in England.

Brown slates the Tories by suggesting that there will be 'Tory Cuts' but the main cuts in any Tory administration would be to all the disgraceful waste that Labour has allowed. It doesn't care about the waste after all it's our money not theirs. It took Mrs Thatcher years to cut out the wasteful habits of the Labour government prior to hers. Labour doesn't change, it's always a 'tax and waste' philosophy whilst shoring up their own pay and pensions. Gord is STILL taxing OUR pension funds but not the MP's of course which is just paid out of our tax. They have no worry about their pensions being affected by the credit crunch.

after years of tax hikes, council tax electric/gas rises petrol going up scrapping the 10 tax hospital failing or closing. prisons overrun the country flooded with immigrants. thousandsof jobs lost now the goverment is spend spend spend and giving us tax cut.. thanks gordon least we can look forword to mass tax hikes if or when the economy does pick up thanks again gordon brown

The crazy thing about the continuation of Labour and their plan for public spending on schools, hospitals etc, is that there's a huge hospital where i live in Runcorn Cheshire that's nearly closed down completely. There's no accident unit, very few if any operations are carried out, yet the residents of Halton pay huge ammounts in council tax for a service that we don't get. We have to travel miles to either St Helens, Warrington, Chester or Crewe. Not funny if you're the parent of a child who's had a serious accident or an elderly relative needing urgent attention.

Brown is a lunatic. After lecturing us all on spending less, he seems to be under the impression that he can borrow his way out of this nightmare.
Trying to sweeten us with expensive projects, handouts and such like won't work, because its a debt mountain that we will repay many, many times in the years to come!
If we don't get rid of Brown, there won't BE a Britain by the time the next election comes along!
Why don't we stop paying money into Europe? They give nothing back and tell us what to do? That would save us a fortune for a start.
Stop making cheap promises, Gordon. Action is needed NOW - and NOT more borrowing - we've already seen that spending beyond your means is what has brought this disaster about in the first place.
And as for energy projects, don't make me laugh. Pensioners need heating THIS winter, not in about two years time. Batty loft insulation plans and idiots trampling over their carpets telling them to install loft insulation when they have no money already won't keep them warm this winter.
Do us all a favour Brown - step down before you wreck our nation for good!
