Dan, 28, will head off from his base in Plymouth in March for six months on the front line with the rest of his elite 40 Commando unit.
Corporal Dan came to his amazing decision after being given special leave to help jobless dad Les, 59, celebrate his EuroMillions win at the family home near Newport, South Wales.
And his resolve to stay and fight for his country on £25,000 a year, rather than live in the lap of luxury, was yesterday applauded by top brass, including his commanding officer Lt Col Woody Page.
He said: "Corporal Scadding has got the Corps' colours running through the middle of him."
A MoD spokesman added: "We understand he has been very, very emphatic in his decision to remain with 40 Commando and in his desire to go to Afghanistan with his colleagues."
