Labour launched the UK Council for Child Internet Safety in 2008 - but no action has been taken to force social network sites to crack down on tormentors. The major sites already have some safeguards:
FACEBOOK users can block people and remove them from their Friend List. They can report an abusive user and Facebook will investigate.
MYSPACE users can also block bullies. Profiles for people under 18 are set to private so only friends can contact them. There is also a button to report abusive users with a response time "within a few hours".

BEBO/AOL blocks abusive users and claims it removes harmful content "within a reasonable amount of time" when notified.
MSN has created a special area on the site where parents, teachers and kids can find out about tackling cyberbullying and where they can get help.
WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER can create a selected list of 'allowed' contacts and choose to 'block' people. There is also a report abuse button.
