SIR Elton John is seriously ill in hospital with an E.coli infection, his official website stated last night.
Doctors have ordered the singer, 62, to postpone three US concerts with Billy Joel next month.
On Friday Sir Elton cancelled the last leg of his Red Piano tour in Dublin, having earlier pulled out of concerts at Sheffield, Newcastle, Liverpool and Wembley.
The star's website explains he has "a serious case of E.coli bacterial infection and influenza".
His partner David Furnish spent most of yesterday at his bedside at London's King Edward VII Hospital, telling reporters as he left: "He's OK, he's fine."
