Help us end the violence

SPEAKER: Alan Johnson
SPEAKER: Alan Johnson

WE are taking our groundbreaking Save Our Streets campaign to the Labour and Conservative party conferences.

It will give News of the World readers the chance to make their voices heard.

The events include debates with leading politicians and key community figures on the violent crime blighting our country.

The Save Our Streets Roadshow will be at the Labour Party conference at the Brighthelm centre in Brighton on September 30 at 2pm.

Panellists include Home Secretary Alan Johnson and Barry Mizen, father of murder victim Jimmy.

Then we head to Manchester for the Tory conference at the Moss Side Powerhouse on October 7 at 7pm. You will have the chance to put your questions to former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey, and former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith.

The only way right and wrong can be brought back into the criminal Justice System is punishment to match the crime. Gaol should be a place of hard work not a human warehouse. Prisons just seem to be a laughing stock now. Why don;t we bring back Capital Punishment. Corporal punishment. These thugs who think their hard and pick on elderly and small easy targets should get Birched! They deserve Nothing Better! Time for that Rediculouse Human Rights act to be repealed. It was Cherie Blair's Self indulgence.

To stop street voilence we need looking at the access and afordabilty of alcohol.Alcohol misuse needs tackling and treating. The historical cultural acceptability of alcohol needs questioning and educating at primary school level. We also need to get to the root causes of what motivates a significant number of people who think it is acceptable to go out on a Friday or Saturday night, drink to excess and indulge in anti-social behaviour. The majority of A&E attendances over the weekend in UK hospitals are alcohol related. The crime level related to alcohol abuse also increases many fold on Friday & Saturday nights. The government has been far too complacent about the problem of alcohol abuse - particularly among young people. The government should develop mass media campaigns to curb excessive drinking, funded at the same level as its drink-drive campaigns over the years.
Further we need to decrimnalise the drugs,Many of the violent criminal gangs owe their existence to the burgeoning, underground drug market. It is they—and not the governments—who control this trade and it is their turf wars that fuel gun crime. The annual trade controlled by the gangs is more than £100bn. You only have to walk through the UK’s many red light districts to see the effect of heroin addiction. Young women, putting themselves at grave danger, as they sell their bodies in return for enough cash to fund their next hit. Then there are the prisons overflowing.

The decriminalisation of drug has paid off in the Netherlands,Switzerland, and Germany. Decriminalisation of heroin and other hard drugs has allowed addicts to be treated as patients. As a result hardly any new heroin addicts are registered, while existing users are supported and have been helped to get jobs. A sensible policy of regulation and control in UK would reduce burglary, cut gun crime, bring women off the streets, clear out our overflowing prisons, and raise billions in tax revenues.

We have a problem with this new policemen, who have been employed as policemen, they are communities, and are not policeman, with no training as it used to be,and have no idea of dealing with anything.policemen are not allowed to go into water higher than 15 inches,to help. they are not allowed to climb a ladder higher than 3feet unless they have been on the course. policemen must not ride bikes in case they fall off with injury.
The Merseyside Police Chief constable,Hogan-Howe accepts that policemen will stand back to avoid injuries, and he also have something like 90 members with his force have convictions. What an awful force he has been, and now promoted !,
The public want PROPER POLICE MEN,Who look like policemen, and know how to sort it out. as it used to be.Too many Chief constables come from universities, and have never seen an angry man.

Labour Conservative could not give a toss about people living in fear on our streets. Labour cannot tell the difference between truth and fiction. We are scared as pensioners so we lock our doors and hide. MPs get police protection. £50 regeneration on our estate used to provide jobs for Labour members. How can anyone on £65K a year understand poverty, unemployment poor education and bad health and housing. The whole system is corrupt from top to bottom. I earn a few quid over my pension I face Jail, they; the elite just laugh their fiddles off. No one gives a crap.

Again, the more people the government adds to the population the worse it will get. Cramming too many people on a small island causes tension, it is and will be bound to happen again and again.
