TAXED £840m EXTRA

MONEY-GRABBING councils have overcharged families £840 MILLION on their council tax - while greedy MPs made a profit on their own bills.

Around 700,000 households are paying too much. But victims can only get the money back if they realise they have been put in the wrong tax band. Shadow Communities Secretary Caroline Spelman, said: "It's disgraceful that the government's tax inspectors have refused to publish details of which homes are paying too much."

More than 50 MPs have been caught claiming too much council tax, with Labour MP Eric Illsey the worst offender, claiming £10,000 when when he only paid £3,966.

HOW TO CLAIM

  • CHECK www.voa.gov.uk in England to see if you are paying more than your neighbours.
  • WORK out what your house was worth back in 1991. This, as well as a detailed guide to appealing, can be found free at moneysavingexpert.com/council.
  • CONTACT your Local Listing Office on 0845 602 1507 if you think you are in the wrong band.

Council tax has risen above the rate of inflation for the last 10 years. When we going to cuts, because the service has not improved in line with the amount of cash generated through this TAX!

Did you know for some parents like my mother she is better off on the social than she is working

Now i understand being on the social aint great but your guna go for the highest salery right ?

They make it impossible for single mothers to work because of this stupid council tax thing.

This again is why i ask what is left here really for british people your treated like dirt robbed unfairly treated used abused and treated 2nd best so whats the point in us being here ?
