SUSAN BOYLE'S defeat in the Britain's Got Talent final was being blamed last night on a backlash against her four-letter tantrum this week.

Millions of viewers went off the Scottish singer after her meltdown, switching their votes to shock winners Diversity.

LATEST: BOYLE IN PRIORY CLINIC

The dramatic turnaround came just six days after she had BEATEN the eventual winners in the last of the semi-finals.

Incredibly, SuBo is still expected to rake in up to £8MILLION this year largely due to her popularity in America.

But her image was badly tarnished by the bust-up at the north London hotel where the show's contestants were staying when she let rip with a foul-mouthed tirade against two fans and had to be calmed down by police.

Susan was even BOOED by a small section of the TV audience last night. And viewers were left baffled when she made a chopping motion against her neck when judge Piers Morgan PRAISED her performance of her audition smash I Dreamed A Dream from hit musical Les Miserables.

Asked what she would do next, Susan said: "I'd like to put an album out and who knows?"

She added: "What a journey." Asked to describe it in three words, she replied: "Unbelieveable. Very humbling. Thank you for everything."

But after the show host Declan Donnelly admitted he was stunned at the result. He said: "It's a shock result, which was good for the show.

Loved

"People have been through mixed feelings about Susan. They loved her one minute and the next they went off her.

"But what people have to remember is we've only seen her sing live three times."

Co-host Ant McPartlin added: "That lady has had the most phenomenal seven weeks. It might be a blessing in disguise that she didn't win."

Fans took to the internet to sum up the mood of viewers.

Blogger Nigel Langstone wrote: "I voted for Boyle on Sunday and Diversity tonight. The Boyle I loved in the heats had changed. She had was no longer that lovely lady from Blackburn.

"She deserved to lose. She blew it BIG TIME."

Richard P wrote: "SuBo had to go. I'm gutted she got into the final three. She was way too overexposed."

Mikky wrote: "Bring on the backlash. SuBo's still going to get to make her album."

Even Susan's most famous fan appeared to desert her last night.

Minutes after the result, Hollywood actress Demi Moore posted on website Twitter, saying: "Diversity was amazing and so incredibly humble. I love that!"

Before last night's final all her "Tweets" had been about Susan.

Last night Gerry Boyle, the closest of Susan's six brothers and sisters, attributed her erratic behaviour to being "fed to the lions" by BGT bosses.

Susan Boyle's brother tells all

Furious Gerry stormed: "They just left her own on her own. She has got a short-fuse and she just blew. Who wouldn't under that pressure? She's told me, 'I feel tired and stressed,' and that's understandable."

Gerry went on: "The people at Britain's Got Talent have been guilty of not dealing properly with a situation that's quite unique. You have to remember she's had to deal with television and the press, which she's never done before, on her own.

"They should have done a better job. They sent her into the lions' den totally unprepared.

"They shoved her out there and made her accessible and then sat back and watched while they got free publicity."

There was anger in Boyle's home town of Blackburn, West Lothian, as 500 stunned pals digested the news. A celebration party organised at the town's Community Education Centre turned into a wake as the Scots faced up to the shock defeat.

Last night show mogul Simon Cowell, who has a detailed strategy in place to make Susan a global star, put on a brave face after the stunning reversal.

He said: "Diversity were absolutely incredible. I'm gutted for Susan. She was there at the top all the way through. But she was incredibly gracious. Susan has come out of this very well.

"We've never had a runner-up like Susan before.

"She won over a lot of fans tonight, not just with her voice, but with her graciousness.

"She's got a massive future in front of her."

Despite the backlash, Susan will rake in a fortune from:

A RECORD DEAL certain to top the £2.3million paid to Faryl Smith, the teen singer from last year's BGT. On top of that Susan will get 15 per cent of every CD sold, around £1.35 per album.

A percentage cut from a MOVIE of her amazing rags to riches life.

A BOOK of memoirs, out by Christmas, which should net her at least £500,000 alone.

Further millions from IMAGE RIGHTS, PRODUCT ENDORSEMENTS and TV APPEARANCES.

It means that tomorrow she can stop claiming her £129.64 a week benefits for the first time in 27 years. A close confidante of Cowell said after last night's defeat: "You would not believe the offers we have on the table -WIN OR LOSE-for Susan Boyle. They are all in place and ready to be signed.

"They don't care in America whether she wins a British TV show-they care about the woman they saw singing on YouTube. If anything, £8million in her first year might be an underestimate."

In an exclusive interview with the News of the World before the show, Cowell said: "Susan could become the biggest star I've discovered. It's the biggest phenomenon I've seen out of any of my shows."

Virgin Susan, 48, will use her new wealth to buy the £80,000 council house where she has lived alone with her cat Pebbles since the death of her mother two years ago. She will get a £15,000 discount because she is the current tenant.

She also plans to set up her siblings for life.

Cowell confirmed he plans to sell the film rights of her story. He said: "I think it would be a great movie. It's astonishing really because she was living on her own with a cat, never been kissed and she's had more than 100million hits on YouTube."Susan is expected to start rehearsals this week before flying to Prague next month to record aan album of show tunes with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra

Orchestra boss Dusan Mihaly said: "The album will have a big Broadway sound."

Susan America loves you, it is a shame how people are judging you, how the media loves talking it's smack... then again, it isn't surprising to me, that is what people do, judge others... The truth is, your very talented and people are just jealous, we are taught as kids we shouldn't judge others, be mean, be cruel... yet as adults we do the opposite of what we teach our youth.

Susan, come to America, we would be honoured to have you here, and it would be a privilege to see you sign live. Many blessings!

Dear Susan, You are loved by America. Please come to visit us when your feeling better. Everyone I know said they were moved to tears the very first time they heard you sing. You are beautiful inside and out. Please take comfort from the millions of people who think you are amazing with a God given talent. The others do not matter to us . Please try not to allow them to matter to you.
God Bless.....

susan's brother is right. bgt used her, enjoyed the publicity they got and then dumped her. simon cowell, once again, told people who to vote for and they voted for diversity, simon's choice. the chopping motion susan made was that she felt the judges gave her the axe and they did. they dismissed her, by telling her she could go back to scotland and be proud. oh yeah????? what did simon offer susan???? where is the contract????? she is not a sophisticated lady and she reacted. there was a lot of dirty publicity about her. who put it out there??? bgt??? someone didnt want her to win.

By bren. Posted June 4 2009 at 3:07 AM.

susan, do you know the difference between "luminous" and "illuminated"?
well, my dear new friend, Diversity is illuminated - you are luminous. those who are illuminated will one day lose their light - they depend on someone or something to make them shine... but those who have their own light will shine forever - from now to eternity...
God blessed you... thus, SHINE!

Susan is a great singer and the juges admited, but I really think that more many teens were voting then adults. We know that teens have a different appreciation about the value. I will not tell that the teen don't have talent, but Susan is, and will always be THE STAR!

Too bad that the papparatzy made alot of harm...

Susan, no metter what: you ARE A WINNER and many many many ppl love you!
God bless!

This was all a set up - BGT is all about television ratings and what better than an upset in the final show? Diversity will go on to their 15 minutes of fame and Susan will become a huge star because she has real talent. Cowell must be delighted with all the dramas because it creates more interest and thus, more money.

'Winter' is an idiot, calling Brits anti social and violent and comparing them to Americans, has she forgotten all the gun murders at SCHOOLS

By bambam. Posted June 2 2009 at 8:53 PM.

The Brits are extremely vicious people, Americans are really bad about being looks obsessed but the Brits beat Americans hands down on taking that obsession to a new low.

The bullying in your schools on children who do not fit in is legendary and not something to be proud of. Frankly the brits that start out as bullys in grade schools grow up to be bigger bullys. Looks like Brits do a really poor job of teaching good social skills.

susan was very good and we all got All upset and we did vot for them so how is she now i hope she will get better soon and good luck in the time you are there and good by

Poor Susan. She kept saying that winning would prove she is a 'worthwhile person'. Maybe her family and neighbours don't make her feel that way already. She was looking for the affirmation and approval she seems to desperately need - like many BGT auditionees - but the papers just want to sell papers and 'shock revelations' of a star's mental ill health just sell, sell, sell.

Now her family keep saying she should go back to Scotland and see her cat as if that would cure everything but this looks like a mess that has taken a lifetime to create. The vulnerability of the auditionees is much of the 'attraction' of BGT. The twist with Susan was that she looked like one of the deluded ones when she walked out on stage, but she turned out to have a real talent. Simon Cowell and the BGT team were able to spot the opportunities created by a vulnerable person with a beautiful voice, but not the care she needed.

Hope Susan will get the help she needs to heal and everybody will learn. I think her unique voice and personality still have something to say to many.

By kate . Posted June 2 2009 at 11:00 AM.

Susan Boyle has a beautiful talent, she should have won,all these people that made negative comments about her, haven't got a heart.
Who was the person that made her change her appearance, someone did,the dance group that won were good, but did not have the talent like Susan, she got judge by her appearance.
I like her just the way she was on her first appearance,i say to her just be your self.

By Heather Thompson. Posted June 2 2009 at 1:20 AM.

I don't know anything about the disability that Susan has, I do know that, I, myself have had a brain injury, since 1970, and, I have been fired from jobs because of it. More power to Susan if she can make a career from the talent she pocesses. Shame on you :naysayers" from critizing her for her "fit" You don't know what she has gone through with her disability, I have lived it, and, I hate she lost, but, she will get through it, I hope the Press lets her rest, and Simon helps with her career. You go girl!

By Cookie from Florida. Posted June 1 2009 at 8:30 PM.

Susan should be given at least a million dollar "signing" bonus, just like the athletes get. :)

After all she has been through and has done for BGT, ITV, and Simon Cowell, nothing less will do.

:)

By Carole. Posted June 1 2009 at 7:41 PM.

Hi all. Susan will make millions in America... she didnt really need to win. Diversity are very talented and if they jadnt won I am sure Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Eminem and other artists would have snapped them up as backing dancers... because of their choreography, they would have been successful regardless of winning. Shaheen.. lovely voice- doesnt matter if he didnt win because Disney will make him a millionaire through their urchasing and advertising power.

she was abit over the top when at the 2nd britians got talent she shown her legs of to the jugdes , they was happy but shoked .

i would think she needs to get her act together and get that She DIDNT win !

By martha fiander. Posted June 1 2009 at 3:57 PM.

Oh for heavens sake give it a rest. I am neither pro or anti Susan, she made her choice to enter the competition, learning difficulties or not. Now she is finding out what fame means and it should be her choice whether she wants more of the same or not. IMO she should just make a album and leave out all the personal appearances. She should only do what she is comfortable with and can cope with, and to hell with being pushed by the likes of Simon Cowell. She is nothing more than another money spinner to him.

By Gina. Posted June 1 2009 at 4:11 PM.

It doesn't make a difference that she lost the competition. She will still have a successful singing career and make a lot of money. The most impressive thing for me was that she is so talented that she actually sang "I dream a Dream" better than the first time, which we all thought was magnificent. I wish her all the best.

By Richard from Massachusetts. Posted June 1 2009 at 5:42 PM.

I think it sucks she lost!! I can imagine she has had a real war on the inside. I know she has said this is her dream but sometimes we pay a price for our dreams. My husband is a psychologist who has worked witht the Pryory and it is the best.

I agree with her brother, they threw her too the lions poor girl. I think the priory will help her work through the things she has to deal with. They work with alot of celebrities.

By Linden. Posted June 1 2009 at 1:12 PM.

Even though she lost the competition, we adore her in Sri Lanka

By Jude. Posted June 1 2009 at 12:15 PM.

Katie from America, we have The X Factor which has the same format as American Idol. In fact that is where you have probably got the idea from as they are both Simon Cowell productions, who in case you havent noticed is British.

By zutti. Posted June 1 2009 at 12:00 PM.

I think she's awful - good riddance to bad rubbish I say. She bought into her fame and it cost her. 99p bargain basement here we come...

By Ned. Posted June 1 2009 at 12:37 PM.

understanding what Susan Boyle has conquered to get up and sing her heart out appears to be lost on a whole lot of people. To understand her struggle and to see what she has done is in my opinion beyond success.

If you understand her suffering and now her beautiful entrance ......dont get involved in all this judgement. Just buy her CD and give the Lassie (and we are ALL proud of her ) ....a wee bit of love....

By jas. Posted June 1 2009 at 9:27 AM.

Alina says
The talent in Diversity lays solely in the hands of the choreographer.
Aside from it being a crass comment like the talent of Susan Boyle lies solely in the songwriter, the fact is as far as I recall the leader of the troupe was also the choreographer - some of the comments on here are uncharitable at best and just plain stupid at worst; there are many things that restore my faith in human nature and others like some (not all) of the posts on here have the opposite effect, and seem to bring out the worst side of people not the best, unlike talent shows

By clive couter. Posted June 1 2009 at 9:19 AM.

Susan is a great singer! We adore here in the Netherlands!

By eva. Posted June 1 2009 at 8:56 AM.

I don't think the crowd at the final were booing Susan at all -- quite the contrary. They were booing Piers for tipping his hand and throwing his endorsement to Susan before all the competitors had been seen!

By Marlin. Posted June 1 2009 at 8:42 AM.

Susan Boyles inspires me. She proves to the people around the world that "everything is possible". It is very impossible for Susan to be in final but it is so even from all criticisms and negative feedback.

By danny. Posted June 1 2009 at 7:06 AM.

I am not keen on any form of dancing in Talent shows but I must admit that the performance of Diversity on the three shows was outstanding and in particular the final winning performance.

As for Scotland's Susan Boyle, I think she is a mediocre singer, there are many singers quite capable of such a performance and by singing the same song again for the final was enough to lose the show to a brilliant Diversity.. she had a whole 7 weeks to get another song well rehearsed, Holly Steel had 24 hours and managed a very difficult number. As a Scot I was appalled and embarrassed by her awful idiotic hip wriggling and as for showing leg to the knicker-line UGH!! she is no Marlene Dietrich.

I think it is time that the producer's levelled the playing field and insist that the final performance cannot be a repeat of a previous one.

Even though Julian Smith disappointingly played the same tune for the final it was an excellent performance and well worthy of third place. Get the DVD out Julian, I for one will buy it.

By GDox. Posted June 1 2009 at 4:08 AM.

The talent in Diversity lays solely in the hands of the choreographer. Diversity, if it continues to exist as a dance group after the Royal Variety Show, will have different membership short time after. The choreographer will more than likely see a fair share of opportunities come his way and Diversity will soon become a thing of the past. I have a feeling Susan Boyle's voice is going to be around a whole lot longer!

By Alina. Posted June 1 2009 at 4:01 AM.

Susan came second because the voting was left to the general public and the general publics appreciation of talent needs no explanation or comment.

By Ray. Posted June 1 2009 at 2:45 AM.

To anyone who has put Susans inability to get a job down to her learning difficulties, I think you are wrong... I know and work with people with learning difficulties, and many have jobs. Those who dont are too disabled to get jobs, they certainly would not be able to get up on stage and sing like that. I am not pro- or anti- Susan. I think, fair play to her. she is able to get up on stage like that, perform well, and do enough to see her succeed... but why do you think she cant get a job? Plenty of people claim benefits when they can get a job, but just wont for whatever reason, learning difficulties or no. But I wonder if someone without learning difficulties had got up on stage and sang like that, would they have the publicity that Susan is getting? Maybe this is a positive side effect of the views society have of those with learning needs, but its still casting them as "different". I'm still not sure if I like that, even if it is having a positive effect on Susan.

By Berni. Posted June 1 2009 at 2:35 AM.

The problem I think was not Susan herself, but the immense media hype about her not so long after the Jade Goody hype, that put many off from the start.

By Chris. Posted June 1 2009 at 2:19 AM.

susan boyle may not have won last night but to me she was fantastic and should not listen to critics trying to put her down.keep your chin up susan and when you bring an album out i will surely buy it.good luck for the future.

By elaine costello. Posted June 1 2009 at 12:38 AM.

My word there are some thick people on here. Last year there were brilliant acts eg Faryl Smith / Escala that didnt even make the top 3. Noone was crying then.

This year , Susan Boyle sang beautifully in the final.Really beautifully , better than her audItion IMHO. But Diversity were just spectacular , with an imagination in their choreography that was breathtaking. There wasnt a backlash against Susan Boyle , it was simply that on the night more people were moved by Diversity.

It was a great final with only 2 Grand dropping the ball. Instead of name calling , why not be happy that a superb dance troupe have their day in the sun , and a wonderful singer is about to get very rich.

By Paul. Posted June 1 2009 at 12:21 AM.

Strange, do we know yet what was said to Susan to bring her four letter response? The press gives the pubic half a story and much of the public goes wild with it. Do you know how you would have responded to what was said to her, if anyone ever publishes what was said?

But all those calling Susan an average singer, you're at odds with some pro singers and songwriters and millions of listeners worldwide. She has an exceptional singing voice, and quite a few have called it the greatest voice they've ever heard. Being too petty and small to acknowledge her talent is, well, very petty and small, whether you like Broadway type tunes or not.

I think there was some backlash to the weeks of non-stop publicity, but she will make millions while the dance groups will find a gig here and there, but they were exceptional in a two minute routine. Quick, name the most famous dance groups you know of, who've had long careers. Er, the Rockettes in NYC, and, uh, well maybe there are some in London. Who won the show will matter little after the BGT tour has concluded in a few weeks.

By Will in the USA. Posted May 31 2009 at 11:59 PM.

Think the media had an awful lot to do with Susans demise, they raised her up then tried their damdnest to destroy her, BGT didnt help by not protecting her. I honestly didnt think she would win the competition, there were better acts, shaheen for instance, diversity, Julien. Susan doesnt have to worry, millionairess in the making. Now everyone in her hometown of Blackburn want a piece of her and can any of them honestly say hand on heart that they spent any time with her...hangers on the lot of them !!!
and as for her brother...pound signs !!!!

Susan enjoy your time in the spotlight and keep singing ;-)

By Markmywords. Posted May 31 2009 at 11:04 PM.

I think Susan is wonderful & she should have won. But I do think winning would have put an even more hardship on her. She should be able to make some CD's if she gets the right promoter. Someone should have been riding shotgun for her when all those people starting moving in on her. They should have known how fragil she is. And to all those that sat in the crowd that booed her, you are a poor excuse of a human being, anybody that sits back & boos people like Susan should be hog tied & not allowed out in public. Why people want to be so cruel is beyond me. What kind of satisfaction is obtained from being like that?

Ronnie,

In fact most of the singers chose their first songs for the final. Hollie chose a different song, but the rest were right back where they were singing their audition songs. Some people only had 12-36 hours between the semi and the final. You can't prepare more in timing like that. Julian Smith, the saxophone player, also played his audition piece. Luckily the two dance groups were able to pull something a little different together for it, but most of the moves were similar.

Every one of the finalists deserves praise for their work - some of the semi finalists, too. I hope all of them land something that makes their dream come true.

Diversity is very talented, and Susan showed a lot of class and grace when they won. She's a fun woman, I'd love to hang out in a pub with her!

By Maer. Posted May 31 2009 at 10:04 PM.

i would have like to see julian smith win as he was talented and had a nice personality. he genuinly touched me with his music. diversity were also good and had a lot of talent which will take them far. they did their own choreography which was excellent. and to come up with 3 totally different routines for the show was ingenious. well done diversity.
as for susan boyle, yes she can sing ok but so can a lot of other people. she was average. who ever put her forward to audition for the show did not think it over what the stress would do to her fragile mind. the producers should have queried this before they put her forward.
i also think the age limit should start at 16. it would save youngsters like holly from having to cope with fame vewfore they are ready for it.
the producers and simon have a moral obligation to protect the vulnerable.

By dee. Posted May 31 2009 at 9:39 PM.

Man oh man!!!!!!!! You Brits need more T.V. shows or more channels. Isn't there anything better to do on a Saturday night over there, than watch a third rate talent show.

By MoMo. Posted May 31 2009 at 9:54 PM.

jeezs theres some tosh written on here, fair play to diversity cracking performance, only ashley the choreographer gonna make anything out of it.right back to reality and let me ask yer a ? bear with me to see and get the point.for 52 weeks a year for yonks corries wipes the floor with eastenders in the ratings ,yeah and on the soap awards eastenders always wins.basically cos the generation that watchs corrie wont part wi there pennies on voting whereas the texting techie generation being a lot younger and no doubt mummy and daddy paying for their tappety tappin text and vote away without worrying whos paying,
Ave no doubt the clear winnner will be Subo in the long run as Escala are now.Reckon Subos first album out nicely in time fer chrimbo.
methinks money grabbin cowell should take a good long hard look at the future BGT as this week wi subos outburst and lil holly(bless) falling apart it all coulda gone very very pear shaped and no i dont think holly should have been allowed a 2nd chance, they all coulda done that.same as the lad in the heats when cowell stopped him saying cant yer sing anthing else and lo and behold the next song on the tape was a success, nah,as an earlier poster pointed out they all vetted afore hand by whoever,so theres a bit of audience manipulation going on.o and if yer storming it lets get on the favorites nerves fer a reaction.the great british press at its best. make no mistake Subo will become a multi-millionairess.

By david mullen. Posted May 31 2009 at 9:14 PM.

Well done Susan, cant believe some comments people have said the last few weeks. Ignore them and enjoy your singing, you have a truly beautiful voice and I wish you all the best. You deserve it.

You were the winner Susan and I await your first album.

By Sue. Posted May 31 2009 at 8:37 PM.

Susan Boyle's rants had nothing to do with Diversity winning Britains got Talent...Diversity were absolutely faultless and the choreography was amazing and they deserved to win...simple as that!
We all know that if Susan Boyle had been young and attractive but had the samee voice, she wouldn't have stood a chance. It was the 'novelty' of Susan being older and not looking the part that won her the votes to begin with. Talent soon took over and quite rightly so!

By Heather Symonds. Posted May 31 2009 at 8:02 PM.

To all you judgmental and critical people of Susan Boyle, I want you to understand that the slow learning disability that she has struggled with all her life is the unexamined and truly heroic triumph of this talented individual. I publicly shame all you posters who have no idea what any disability is like and how this never enters your narrow and media fed minds. Talent is talent is talent. Popularity is not talent. The world wide love for Susan must have really irked you 'yobs" to find fault with any spoon fed negativity you chose to consume. Please refrain from regurgitating after consumption, your own human frailty and mean spiritedness is on public display. To Susan, chin up and see you soon.
Luv ya ( and not til Tuesday) but forever.

By Chris. Posted May 31 2009 at 8:15 PM.

Ronnie: of course in America, everything us run so much better.. really pleased to hear.
I've not watched the show but have obviously heard all the hype and youtubed 'the moment' along with the rest of the world. It's just entertainment, the way people bang on about it, you would think that Susan Boyle found the cure for flu.
She was good the first time but what it was above all was that she surprised us. Was able to turn around the preconceptions we had about her. That was a great thing because maybe we can take this with us. Still, she wasn't excellent, she just left an impression.

By Pixie. Posted May 31 2009 at 7:38 PM.

hi great show but maybe its just me but doesnt anyone else think flawless were better and should have won?

By mario. Posted May 31 2009 at 7:49 PM.

The people who are making fun of Susans behaviour dont seem to grasp the fact that the woman is learning disabled. Her expressions and the way she interacts are all the result of her brain injury. The papers have played this fact down because they dont want to get accused of discrimination.Susan has done a lot of good for people who face bullying and are otherwise invisible.
For what its worth i thought the result was spot on last night and the best men won.

Very often, those that suffer from Aspergers Syndrome--they have difficulties associating with everyday events--are quite articulate in certain areas, and despite a tendency to 'lose-it!' I should'nt wonder that Susan will score pretty high in relation to the more balanced and unprejudiced view! Best of luck Susan! Sock it to 'em as they say!

By Mr FC OSBORNE. Posted May 31 2009 at 7:26 PM.

Shame on those of you who have failed to recognise Susan's learning disabilities. Drawing benefits all those years does not make her a scrounger. The probability is that no employer has given her the chance to prove her worth. It is well documented that she has done voluntary work so stop being judgemental and thank God or whoever you believe in that you do not have those disabilities. She was not responsible for any of the hype surrounding her. Yes some of her behaviours are odd and cringe-making but, as a psychologist has said, she is behaving as she thinks she is expected to behave, not as she would usually behave.

Susan u rock!!!! Been watching u all the way from Canada, ure a star!!!!!

By Ronnie. Posted May 31 2009 at 5:27 PM.

Here in the US, we have Simon's American Idol show which is run somewhat differently than BGT. What really surprises me is the fact that Susan Boyle only sang TWO sngs throughout the entire competition (one song twice). All of the other acts had to do different programs because they were told they needed to "step it up" as they went to the next level. How then could she only sing two songs in total? American Idol has tryouts, semis, and the final 12, with someone being voted off each week. That way, the public hears many examples of each act. As an aside, the frontrunner on AmIdol sang his best song at the finals and lost, see a pattern here? Repeat performances lose their effect. Also, I feel poor Aidan (Ithink) only got an extremely short time to get together a new routine and this was not fair to him. Susan did not need to practice a repeat show but this kid needed some more time. That was not fair to him. Hopefully, Simon & Co will realize the public notices these things and makes some changes. Bravo to Diversity - what a class act!

By Katee. Posted May 31 2009 at 5:39 PM.

I also had trouble on the phone - there was a problem - trying to vote for susan - does make you wonder...
I didn`t think she could ever sing that song better than she did the first time - but my god she did - that was an absloutely brilliant and amazing performance she put on last night. I went all goose pimply when she hit the high note - higher and higher - wow ! She did the chopping motion on her neck because she knew the press had turned the public against her - simon cowell should have taken better care of her - shame on you simon letting her face all that trauma alone ! I will definately be buying her cd`s - and i`m so pleased there`s a great future mapped out for her - she so deserves it. Go susan !!!

By Lana. Posted May 31 2009 at 5:37 PM.

To Linda 9.12.

Susan could claim those benefits because she has learning difficulties, which obviously stopped her from getting work.

Diversity were great and congrats to them. Susan will do alright out of this, probably better than Diversity in the long run.

However, I would like to sing the praises of Julian Smith who was fantastic. What a lovely, polite and unasumming guy. Someone, please snap this fella up and give him the chance he deserves.

Loads of luck Julian.

By LUCY BUCNANAN. Posted May 31 2009 at 5:47 PM.

Im glad Diversity won, Susan Boyle still has a career her voice is amazing, BUT I hate the stupid gestures she does, I grinch everytime she twists her waist and shows her legs soooo not funny.

By gracie1960. Posted May 31 2009 at 5:07 PM.

Susan Boyle is a winner and I cant fault her for losing her rag after being taunted and pecked at.
There is such a mindset of Brits that cant let anyone get above what they feel is their station in life and have to tear it down.
Susan you are a star and the world awaits you my dear, There is a world out there that will welcome and applaud you, do not let the ignorant yobs get to you. Laugh all the way to the bank lassie.

By expat. Posted May 31 2009 at 5:21 PM.

there is a milion of dancing groups and just one susan boyle she is the winner for me!!!!!we wont remember that dancing grup in few months but we will remember susan.anyway whats wrong with a british public!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!for voting another dancing group

By kasia. Posted May 31 2009 at 5:11 PM.

Susan Boyle is simply a human being with a wonderful talent. She's our Kate Smith. She is a winner, maybe not on that show but in her life. So what if she cursed! Jesus, Joseph, and Mary! He who is without sin cast the first stone...............just my opinion......

By mary c ferrari. Posted May 31 2009 at 5:10 PM.

susan boyle would have won if you could have got through and voted for her i tried for 30minutes to vote for her
and the number said error number
so off course diversty won
what a farce please..............

By julie . Posted May 31 2009 at 4:35 PM.

please let Susan have her wish to sing in front of the queen, that is all she wanted, coming second shouldnt detur her from doing this, She should have won in my eyes , these wishes comes from Australia we enjoyed listening to her. good luck Susan , just watch those four letter words now,!!!!!!!

By mary. Posted May 31 2009 at 4:30 PM.

I am so gald that susan Boyle didn't win. She was far too cocky and really wasn't all that original....in truth...I just didn't like her!!

By Linda . Posted May 31 2009 at 4:22 PM.

Congratulations to the English media who were determined that Susan Boyle was not going to win. These types of shows are ridiculous to start with, but fixing a competition in times like this shows the gutter level of the media.

A real congratulations to Susan. Real people the world over are so proud of you. You are by far the most talented person ever to appear on this show or any other of its type.

By Joe. Posted May 31 2009 at 4:19 PM.

Sorry S Boyle fans. I thought first performance was good but not impressed with second. I'm sick of reading how she needs help and poor susan under too much media attention and she can't cope.WHAT A LOAD OF COBBLERS!!If she was that affected by it why didn't she quit. Now the womans going on to make an album WHY!! if she's under so much pressure?? Does she think the media are going to leave her alone once she releases it. She was rude and her behaviour last night was bizarre to say the least. I noticed the others waving to the camera when thier names were called but not her. I'm sorry my opinion of her is not very nice but you can only go by the verbal she's been dishing outto people. Yes it must be annoying so much attention but what the hell did she expect.No-one else acted like that because it would have made the newspapers also. I personally wished that Flawless were up there with diversity and Julien Smith because they were great though Diversity deserved to win. Now go away Susan and make your money and go to anger management and for goodness sake get your bottom set of teeth whitened

By lorraine. Posted May 31 2009 at 4:10 PM.

The truth is that there were far more talented people in the final that deserved to win far more than Susan Boyle. She should not even have been in the top 3. Yes she has a good voice but she's not as good as some of the other acts. And she has no manners or personality. She'll still make a fortune so i'm glad Diversity won, they are amazing and deserved it. Well done boys!

By claire. Posted May 31 2009 at 4:07 PM.

OK. I will try again since the moderators don't seem to have appreciated my opening statement, or maybe the slight reference to my location.
What do you people want?
Of course Susan had a meltdown. She is only human! The BGT people send her out "to the lions" without any backup. She has never been exposed to this kind of cut-throat life before, unless you can say that school-yard bullies rank at the same level.
Please all you naysayers, can you honestly say you have not had a "meltdown" in public and uttered a four-letter word? I think not!
How can anyone vote for glitz, glamour, and theatrics over an honest "from the heart" performance like Miss Boyle's?
Susan Boyle is a true heroine for all people and is at the top of my book. I will be one of the first in line to buy her first CD, movie, or book.

By Kayte. Posted May 31 2009 at 4:05 PM.

Susan's achievement on BGT is equal to a blind man graduating #1 from Harvard. You need to understand her brain injury to get it

By Kate. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:49 PM.

Nobody has mentioned this... The saxophonist should have won... he was desperate to win and his was (imo) the most moving audition. I hope the saxophonist is successful!

As for the others.. some of them (im thinking stavros, and 2 grand) were nice as a novelty act but there were others who should have made it to the final- like that Callum Francis who put his all into his 'Baloo' skitch.

By Rhona. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:54 PM.

Big well done to Diversity. They won because they were best on the night, they outshone every one on that stage last night and deserved their win.

They were amazing in each of the heats each one better than the one before. No sob stories, no hype, no meltdowns, just getting better and better, and owning it when it mattered.

well done boys.

By JAMIE. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:53 PM.

Yes Diversity won..............! But in the long run Susan is the winner.
If Susan was to read this i hope she will be coming to are Opera House or maybe are Grand Theatre right here in BLACKPOOL
Were all waiting for you here Susan

By tony. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:50 PM.

BTW what on earth was Holden dragged up like?Sheesh it didn't work.

By mrs_spratt. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:29 PM.

Sandy @ 2.41 -- spot on! People are on this show to show off what TALENT they have. That means the whole package. There should be no time for fakers, pity votes and sob stories. Which brings me onto 2Grand. Much sympathy and condolences to the fact that the old fella's wife had passed on 15 months ago. However, that became his catchphrase ('Since my wife died....'). Cut it out and get on with it. If your talent can't do the talking for you, then make way for someone whose does. Glad the public saw through it. Well done Diversity!! Well deserved!!

By Leanne. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:15 PM.

'Fed To The Lions'!! What a quote, she can sing on her own, yet needed someone to hold her hand for media?? Get A Grip... you dont come into this contest and do this the show if your so scared of being hounded by media and interviews!! Its part of the parcel! Its noone fault expect her own for not handling pressure. Even the kids on show could handle it far better. Well she got good voice least she can use 8 mill to get surgery as she cant dance nor got the idol image!!
I know they done great job on JORDAN, but her she needs pure magic!! Nor woud i buy the album! Simon must be this blind??

DIVERSITY were the true pros in all hence they won, and great attuitude with inspiration for the dance world! Keeping on moving boys!!

By angel. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:14 PM.

Well done Diversity...unlike most Americans I knew SuBo was not guaranteed the win once I saw Diversity and Flawless perform. To all my fellow Yanks I say take a look at all three Diversity performances (in order) and you will begin to understand why they came out on top! I have watched all three performances a few times and am more impressed each time. I also thought Flawless was awesome! As for SuBo she has a bright future ahead of her and I wish her all the best.

Once again...well done Diversity!

By Love those Brits. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:23 PM.

YOU ARE STILL A WINNER IN OUR EYES SUSAN, CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR ALBUM, EX WHITBURNONIANS

By AGNES & ROBERT. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:19 PM.

Over here on the other side of the pond, we don't care whether Susan won BGT or what she might have said under enormous pressure. None of that matters over here in the states, and especially not in Las Vegas, where I live. All we Americans care about is getting to hear more of that phenomenal talent. She could probably get a multimillion dollar contract from Steve Wynn to play in Vegas to packed houses indefinitely.

Hey, I enjoyed Diversity's performance. But I wouldn't pay hundreds of dollars to see them in a live concert. I would pay that for a ticket to see Susan Boyle, though. And I think I speak for most Americans. Susan, America awaits you with open arms!!

By Kathy Watterson. Posted May 31 2009 at 2:51 PM.

Oh, another thought here. Does anyone remember Kate Smith (American singer from the 40s & 50s, I think).
I feel that Susan has the voice and deportment to be an English Kate Smith.

By Kayte. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:12 PM.

How could the person who posted something on here about Hollie, be so nasty about a 10 year old little girl! YOU ARE SICK! She is 10 years old, you could see she was genuinely terrified and upset, it was upsetting to watch. Grow up you sick pathetic child haters!

By Claire. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:12 PM.

i was saddened that susan didn't go all the way. with those looks and that talent she will go far.

By lou. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:10 PM.

Todays newspaper has really annoyed me. As if Susan Boyle hasn't had enough publicity since she first appeared on TV she is still stealing all the limelight even though Diversity won. On The front page its her face and her name in big letters. Inside the newspaper she has a full 2 page spread and diversity the actual winners only got a small box in the corner. For gods sake Give diversity some coverage they need and concentrate on the fact they won and she lost. Even Holly Steel had more of a mention than Diversity

By Dave. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:00 PM.

Susan Boyle you were great give me more!

By Erin woodford. Posted May 31 2009 at 2:55 PM.

I think Susan boyle was very good, it is the same prosses over and over again, some one with a talent, build them up ,build them up, then take their legs away and watch them fall. "how very sad" .The fans did not turn against her, she was beaten by a better act, simple as that.

By winkie. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:05 PM.

Seriously who even cares! It's just one big freak show anyway, with SB being the biggest freak of them all!

By Blink. Posted May 31 2009 at 3:04 PM.

susan boyle wasnt the same bright bubbly person she was to me she looked sullen and seemed relieved when diversity where announced the winners. I think that she has been treated so unfairly by the press for the last couple of weeks and anyone in her situation would have had enough. We all fell in love with susans bright personality and beautiful voice. I hope that the twinkle comes back in her eyes she doesnt deserve all the negativity shes had

By sue . Posted May 31 2009 at 3:02 PM.

Humans are disappointing. You have a feel good moment and then the jackals move in to rip it to shreds..You took a bright spot in a struggling world and kicked it in the a$s....one of the greatest moments in the contest was when little Hollie came back after regaining her composure...about half way thru the song, the audience got behind her and began to sing with her..a very touching moment. It reminds me why we love you Brits and that wont ever change. Thanks to BGT for keeping us glued with interest for this week.

By stinkin. Posted May 31 2009 at 2:41 PM.

Lets get on to Hollie'fake it ' Steele. What a performance and I dont mean the singing. Fake breakdown to gain judges sympathy. NO TEARS just a guatanteed place in the final as the 'Bravest girl in the world' Good God get a grip it was a whole put on and put up by pushy mum who rushed to comfort her distrought little spoilt princess. SOOOO glad the public saw thru it and didnt vote for her when it mattred. Spoilt little cow.

By Sandy. Posted May 31 2009 at 2:41 PM.

I HOPE that some how someone will help Susan get a good record contract as SYCO RECORDS is not what is best for her!

By John B. Posted May 31 2009 at 2:28 PM.

How dare Mark from the USA make such comments about the boys who won? Why would someone who did not listen to interviews given by the dancers, about their academic background, say such rubbish? The comments seem to have come from a very bitter and/or stupid person.
You know what--- Good luck to all the contestants who put themselves into such a position where they could be so easily humiliated by the judges, laughed at by the audience and sometimes despised by viewers and the general public.

By Courtney from London. Posted May 31 2009 at 2:27 PM.

What does Cowell really know? a guy who made quick bucks with novelty records. It is well time ITV sacked Syco TV and Cowell, bring it in house to ITV Studio's and make it a Genuine UK Talent Competition, not just for one man to make money!

By jaybs. Posted May 31 2009 at 2:26 PM.

Okay, so Diversity won - perhaps deservedly. My question is this: so now what? Do they get a television show? Do they spend their lives dancing back-up for some female singer or boy band? Who goes to see dancers (especially street dancers) unless they are in a West End show? I'm disappointed for Ms. Boyle and young Shaheen -- at least if they had won, we could purchase cds and listen to their beautiful voices anytime, anywhere. I hope they record cds. That said, congratulations to "Diversity" - if the U.K. says they were the best, then obviously they must have been. (Though I thought the comment about possible backlash due to media hype -or an England vs. Scotland/Wales thing - or even the fact that we Americans loved Susan and you guys all hate us - was interesting and plausible.) Best of luck to the rest of the runners-up.

By Gia. Posted May 31 2009 at 2:26 PM.

Diversity might have won the contest and the prize, but Susan Boyle won our hearts as we stopped and lisened to her singing, the main contest was won by the Bookies as they are the ones that raked in the money.

By vincent ungaro. Posted May 31 2009 at 2:26 PM.

It's all to do with personal choice - not media hype, tantrums or anything else. For me, Susan has a great voice but the act that I could watch again and again is Diversity (along with many of the others). I wouldn't particulary choose to watch or listen to Susan sing again but that's only my preference. People are too quick to be judgemental instead of just accepting that perhaps the British people preferred Diversity, even though the media thought they should think otherwise!

By Janet. Posted May 31 2009 at 2:21 PM.

Like Susan's voice or not, I'd think everyone would have to agree that she was thrown to the lions by BGT for publicity, and they certainly got that.
They were well aware of her capabilities and did nothing to help her.
Even the strongest people crack under pressure and end up alcoholics and drug addicts, and I can't think of anyone that has as much negative press is such a short period of time.
As hard as they tried, they weren't able to dig up any dirt on her, she didn't deserve to be treated the way she was.
They really wore her down and I hope and pray that in time she'll get that spirit back.

By Jani. Posted May 31 2009 at 2:17 PM.

Before we believe who actually won i for one would like to see the actual number of votes cast for each act. People are saying they were cut off before they knew if their vote had been recognised others saying they voted for someone but told theyd voted for someone else. UNTIL BGT CAN SUBSTANTIATE THIS RESULT WE NEED THE NITTY GRITTY DETAILS
