The once swaggering ex-world middleweight champ has been forced to swap his lavish ways for a sad, lonely life in a hotel room.
The 42-year-old dandy-who earned more than £35million from the ring-has lived at the hotel in Brighton for FOUR MONTHS because he has nowhere else to stay.
Staff say he is a "loner" who sips lime and sodas in the hotel bar, then surfs the internet in his room at night.
Lisping Eubank was a hero to millions of British boxing fans in the 90s.
But he was delivered a knockout blow by the Inland Revenue in 2005, when he was declared bankrupt owing £1.3million in unpaid taxes. Once so rich he used Evian water to wash his hands at petrol stations, Eubank now treats himself to sweets from Tesco's across the street from his £149-a-night MyHotel pad in the Sussex town.
"We don't think of him as a guest any more, he lives here," said one worker. "He'll talk to fans and sign autographs. But we never see him taking a woman up to his room.
"Sometimes he'll get a massage in the hotel spa. Other than that, he keeps to himself."
Eubank was attracted by the hotel's New Age theme. It has a feng shui design to "refresh your soul" and rooms have a decor of crystals and lotus flowers.
He was forced to move there after selling his £4m Brighton mansion and another £850,000 former home in nearby Hove to pay off his debts.
Last year ex-wife Karron, 43, told how Chris had begun globe-trotting to exotic spots. But now he has been deserted by his circle of hangers-on and is having to watch every penny.
A friend told us: "The good times are over and the day of reckoning has finally arrived.
"Chris just drinks Evian now, rather than washing in it."

many boxers end up broke. chris brought his own unique style to the ring, and put bums on seats! if he really is down on his luck, let's hope that the 'busm' who run the game, remember his cotribution to the fight game!

my opinion. people felt threatend by this man as boxers are not normally known to be clever. this man however is just that. spoke his mind and watching his family show good family standards. as chris would say i dont know him to judge him, but what i have seen of this remarkable man i like and admire. i wish him all the very best.

I wish Chris Eubank the best of luck..and will keep him in my prayers. I am very saddened to hear of his financial troubles. I was his teacher in high school, in the Business Education Department. If you read this, Chris, please email me. You know who I am. :) God bless you and your family.

My wife and I were getting off the train at Hove Station from London Victoria one evening. We had a heavy case. Chrris came up from behind and offered to help us carry our case. Very polite and considerate fella ....I just dont like his big truck...Its really noisy ,especially that Honk-Honk Hooter. What happened to his Humvee?

Please add the function of a spell checker on here.
Whether or not the people that comment on here have a valid point to make is regardless when confronted by gramattical errors and spelling mistakes. The bad grammar leads one to the conclusion that these people are just having a rant as opposed to making a valuable contribution to the debate.

Eubank BROKE!! ? Never ! The man is too clever than most people think. You for forgot the man grew up very poor. He Eubank said the reason he took up boxing was to get out of porverty and take care of his kids. you all forgot that the man had or has lots of propertiesin brighton, if he sold three of the properties he would easily pay of the tax man. He's done what all rich people celebrities do hide their money fron tax man.still he stays in £149 a night hotel.yeh right, broke my a**se.
By charlie charles.. Posted April 12 2009 at 5:56 PM.
have i missed something!! how can he be homeless if he's living in a hotel at £149 per night' being homeless is living on the streets every night like hundreds and thousands of people do night after night' and im sure would readily swap places with him in a minute' get a grip chris and get back to reality!!
By babs.. Posted April 12 2009 at 4:48 PM.
"Hope his luck changes!" His pride has to change before his luck does. Please don't worry about the bloke, you know he is ok!
By Cliff.. Posted April 12 2009 at 4:08 PM.
One of the true Brit legends of the ring. He's not broke, the article says he's homeless, not destitute. You're still the champ for me, champ.....
By Keith.. Posted April 12 2009 at 3:47 PM.
Eh sad of him no way ! thinking about lots peoples who had homeless and lost their house ,how is hell he pay 149 pound PER NIGHT that is sick man ! Living in a flash hotel with a spa and massages is hardly homeless. Chris Eubank may have come down in the world, GET LOST him !
By paul smith.. Posted April 12 2009 at 1:30 PM.

Still not living in the real world with a monthly bill of around £4500!
Having been made bankrupt he should live within his means, no sympathy whatsoever.....
By AP.. Posted April 12 2009 at 12:14 PM.
Chris wat a legend!
Swagger unmatched
I hope you get over your troubles dude!
Peace

Like several others here I too have met Chris a couple of time is Brighton. Seems a genuinely lovely bloke. Certainly not a man to wish bad times on. The price of his hotel room is not the point.

THIS IS SO SAD TO READ HE IS A GOOD MAN ALBEIT DIFFERENT ,I JUST HOPE HIS SPIRIT WILL BRING HIM BACK FROM THIS ,ALTHOUGH HE WILL NEVER READ THIS I WISH HIM THE VERY BEST
By KAREN LANGDON-MEAD.. Posted April 12 2009 at 10:58 AM.
£149 per night ! I barely have that much per WEEK to live on ! Poor fella it must be aweful for him. I'm sure if Chris was to actually comment he wouldn't say he was broke !
By liam.. Posted April 12 2009 at 10:15 AM.
PLEASE DEFINE "BROKE AND HOMELESS"
AS I AM CONFUSED WITH THE £1000.00
PER WEEK FOR THE HOTEL!!!
By KENNY RANKS.. Posted April 12 2009 at 10:27 AM.
There is a world of difference about a poor man being poor, and alas, a rich man, being poor! 149 quid per night for a bed and a boiled egg, my heart bleeds for the poor soul
By ALAN SIMPSON.. Posted April 12 2009 at 10:22 AM.
sad for an ex world champion to go this way, where are all his so called friends.why don,t they help him
By david sheridan.. Posted April 12 2009 at 9:57 AM.
Get a reality check, some people dont have £149 a week to live on, in todays present climate it hardly seems he has to go without, other people have been made homeless & are just that homeless, not living in a plush hotel
By donna.. Posted April 12 2009 at 9:40 AM.
KEEP YOUR CHIN UP CHRIS!!!!
By Geoff Douch.. Posted April 12 2009 at 8:22 AM.
A genuine sportsman and gentleman, I hope you bounce back Chris.
By Chris.. Posted April 12 2009 at 7:26 AM.
£149 a night? Thats over a thousand pounds a week, thats not being broke and homeless is it? Why doesn't his wife sell up and buy two smaller places - or does she think she should reap all the benefits of HIS previous income?
By Jay.. Posted April 12 2009 at 7:54 AM.
As others have said, Chris was a gentleman. I met him in a bar in Abu Dhabi when he was out out training the UAE boxing team years ago. He strutted in with his usual arrogant style but then proceeded to be one of the nicest celebs' you could meet. He spoke to everybody who said hello, signed autographs, posed for pictures and was nothing like the person you assumed him to be.
Also saw him take care of a very drunken woman at a concert at the Emirates Palace Hotel last year. She was all over the place and having a huge rammy with her husband, he picked her off the floor and made sure she was ok and that her friend could manage to take care of her. He got them some security and a golf car to take them to a taxi.
Not sure how bankrupt he is if he's splashing out on a hotel but the loner bit is a worry, but its generally the way of celebs, sports stars etc who leave the limelight - those who were desperate to be famous vanish
By Monty.. Posted April 12 2009 at 7:35 AM.
All very sad He has not got a penny to his name, BUT his ex Wife is Very Very rich. Yes all very sad.
By Pee-Jay.. Posted April 12 2009 at 6:19 AM.
Lets put this into context - it is a 150 pound a night hotel and he has been there 'so long he isn't considered a guest anymore'. He must be absolutely brassic I'm sure - give that man 50p for a cup of coffee... dear oh dear.
By Chris Froughton.. Posted April 12 2009 at 5:33 AM.
Surprise Surprise, now he has no money all the hangers on have desreted him.
Come on Chris, with talent like that, how about opening up a Boxing school for Kids, get them off the streets.
Helping our our Olympic hopefulls.

What is of paramount importance is that Chris maintains his sanity.
By Cecil Archer.. Posted April 12 2009 at 4:09 AM.
Well, John Walsh, the few times I've met Eubank he's been unpleasant and pompous. But then again, I tried my best to annoy him.
By Ally... Posted April 12 2009 at 2:55 AM.
thats so sad he is not broke may be just down to his last million pound
By sharon.. Posted April 12 2009 at 1:25 AM.
Here's hoping Chris, now he has the time will realise who his real friends truthfully turned out to be.
Should his luck take a turn for the better, he would be well advised to keep that hard truth prominently in mind.
By Ken.H.. Posted April 12 2009 at 1:23 AM.
He could get a mortage for 149 a week
By j williams.. Posted April 12 2009 at 12:08 AM.
I ran into Chris in a shopping mall in Dubai a couple of years ago, and stopped him to say hello. He took the time to chat and I found him to be a really nice person ... not at all like the swaggering dandy he was often depicted as. I do hope that he can turn things around and wish him all the best.
By Jennie.. Posted April 12 2009 at 12:08 AM.
The real sad thing about all of this is the fact that when the man was at the top of his game and working so hard his family were never very far away but where are they all know? not by his side supporting him that"s for sure.
By Gary Malkin.. Posted April 11 2009 at 11:59 PM.
Chris is a gentleman and it's sad to hear a guy who seemed so switched on, has lost so much.
I doubt though he'll ever lose his spirit and hotel life as described seems quite a comfortable one.
By Hb.. Posted April 11 2009 at 11:55 PM.
I met Chris once in Brighton about 8 years ago. He was the nicest person you could ever meet. I just said "Hello" and he took time out to have a chat. Compared to the the superstar brat generation of today he is one of the best.
By John Walsh.. Posted April 11 2009 at 11:26 PM.
Living in a flash hotel with a spa and massages is hardly homeless. Chris Eubank may have come down in the world, but he still seems to be doing OK.
"Homeless" is queuing outside the Matthew Talbot Hostel or similar for a bed you may or may not get.
By John Pollock.. Posted April 11 2009 at 10:43 PM.
I bet a lot of homeless people would like to afford a 149 quid a night hotel and surf the internet and be classed as homeless
By bonnythescouser.. Posted April 11 2009 at 10:38 PM.
Awww. how sad. i hope he comes through his difficulties because despite his bravado and posturing there was very little malice or true arrogance or distain for anyone from Chris and he seemed some1 for whom celebrity and notoriety just gave him a sense of worth and love. often ridiculous and a buffoon he nevertheless was a warm and generous human being who became the best in an extremely brutal profession full dangers. he was one of Britain's greatest sportsmen and a true joy to watch. though he offered us a false vision of the man about town he was so obviously a decent honorable man unlike his nemesis, nigel benn.
