It is such a relief that the McCanns have finally been given permission to continue the search for Madeleine in Portugal. Child trafficking is such a shadowy business that the buyers and sellers often don't even meet face to face and so any hope of catching the initial abductors rests on leads in Luz and the area. In the meantime it is important that people stop ignoring the steady stream of children being fed into comercial exploitation of various kinds. Madeleine is just the visible tip of the iceburg. Lets not get distracted by the things that make Madeleine's abduction unusual and ALSO focus on the thousands of European children a year who have their freedom taken away by these same type of people and the 100,000's of children around the world who are being taken from their families for these same kinds of reasons.

To those of you who claim that money is what's important here... That's correct - In order to continue with the search they need to continue generating funds. Funds to hire their own private investigators that they can trust.

Good luck to Gerry and Kate in finding little "Maddie". Seems like some here forget who the real victim is.

I cannot even begin to imagine what this family has had to endure. I cannot imagine how Gerry must feel to have to relive that night.


They are doing everything that is humanly possible to find their daughter. I support them 100%.

I DO HOPE THAT THE ABDUDCTOR WILL MAKE A MISTAKE SOMEHOW SOMEDAY AND THAT MADDIE WILL BE FOUND IN ONE PIECE - PHYSICALLY YES BUT MENTALLY I DO NOT THINK SHE WILL TRUST HER PARENTS QUITE QUICKLY AGAIN.

Mr Martin Smith is a witness on record as saying that he saw Gerry Mccann carrying Madeline towards the beach at 9.50. Is Gerry Mccann going to reconstruct that?

I'm sure that even if Madeleine turns up alive and well one day there will still be people who claim Gerry and Kate were responsible for her disappearance and involved in some big conspiracy to defraud the public.

I look forward to the day when some people are forced to eat their vicious and hateful words.

When you know that the anti McCann comments are from an organised group of people who have called on the troups to come here and post their spite campaign, it might explain the frustration people feel.

I find it odd that those who want to defend the McCanns always resort to name calling and insults (Fiona and J White).

While those who have empathy with the 3yr old victim, and seek to find out what really happened to her, post comments that are polite and well thought out.

Why do the McCann supporters always resort to insulting other commentators?

I do not understand the small town psychology, and why the residents think that things around Madeleine's disappearance would go away if hidden under the carpet like it happened with a German little boy who went missing from the same area more than 10 years ago.

We live in 2009 now and information is not kept the same way as it did before.

This little town would always have the Madeleine stamp until she is found.

I hope this reconstruction would help solving this case, once for all.

I'd pay good money to see that.
And I can't WAIT to find out how they KNEW it was an abduction as it's been top secret up till now, but no longer has to be as the secrecy law in Portugal no longer applies; obviously revealing this could well lead to a breakthrough.

I take it this 'full reconstruction' will include Mr Martin Smith and his family, who saw a man carrying a 'sleeping' little blond girl down towards the beach at 9.50 pm on the night Maddie was reported missing.

This sighting must be crucial, but, strangely, the McCanns have never mentioned it so far. They should put out a world-wide appeal to find that man.
