THE tenth anniversary of Big Brother will be turned into an emotional tribute to the show's late superstar Jade Goody.

Channel 4 chiefs plan to dedicate the next run of the programme in her honour, the News of the World can reveal.

Host Davina McCall will talk about Jade on the opening night of the new series in May.

BB bosses were in contact with the cancer victim before her death. They wanted the mum-of-two to be aware of their intentions-because she would have seen it as the ultimate honour in what could be the reality show's final run.

A a senior Channel 4 source revealed: "Jade WAS Big Brother. She completely embodied the show.

"This series is a milestone for the show, reaching the decade, so it will be made in tribute to Jade. The series is dedicated to her."

The move will be seen as controversial for Channel 4 because Jade's last appearance on the show was when she was evicted by an overwhelming vote after being accused of being racist about Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty during Celebrity Big Brother 2007.

But our insider explained: "Despite what happened with Shilpa, there is still massive affection for Jade at Big Brother.

"We have all looked on in horror at what was happening to her after she became ill. Our biggest star, our only real star, faded in front of our eyes.

"We cannot deny Jade's importance to Big Brother and we definitely can't deny how much she meant to our viewers. They genuinely loved her and so did we."

Executives at BB producer Endemol have already held a series of talks about how exactly the tribute will work.

A source explained: "The first night of Big Brother is usually a real celebration of the new housemates going in.

"They know that Jade wouldn't have wanted that atmosphere to change so when Davina opens the show and talks about Jade it will be in a positive way.

"They want to celebrate her best moments and how she made the show so refreshing and real. Davina will also give her personal reflections on Jade.

"She knows both of them represent Big Brother in most people's mind. Davina's been very upset about what happened so it will be a poignant moment.

"We want to make another brilliant series of BB for Jade, just like the old days. So we want to find some more real personalities just like her."

The source added: "It's our tenth year and, unless something dramatic happens, there might not be another Big Brother on this scale.

"We want it to go out with a bang in memory of Jade. It's just like how she lived her life, fighting until the end."

Jade, a dental nurse from Bermondsey, south London, first entered the BB house in 2002. The gauche child of a junkie jailbird dad and a one-armed lesbian mum, she immediately became a figure of ridicule.

It's a testament to her character that she overcame all the barbed jibes to emerge as one of the nation's best-loved celebrities.

On her first night in the house she got drunk and dropped a series of clangers. She didn't know what asparagus was. She thought Cambridge was in London and, on being told it was in East Anglia, asked if "East Angular" was abroad. On another night she got drunk again and cavorted naked in front of other housemates.

She also provided what was believed to be the first instance of sexual contact in the series, a drunken grope with housemate PJ. But Jade's irrepressible personality and warmth gradually shone through and she avoided eviction long enough to come fourth in the contest.

After leaving the house her popularity rocketed and she kept accepting offers to return to the show, including appearing in the 2004 Big Brother pantomime. But her most high-profile return - complete with mother Jackiey Budden and boyfriend Jack Tweed - to the Big Brother house for the Celeb version in January 2007 was a PR disaster.

The show attracted 45,000 complaints to media regulator Ofcom over the alleged bullying of Shilpa. In one bust-up, Jade referred to her as "Shilpa Poppadom".

The fallout led to her perfume being taken off shelves and her publishers axing a paperback version of her autobiography. The episode almost destroyed her career.

But Jade apologised and visited India to make amends. In August 2008, she decided to give Big Brother another try by travelling to appear in an Indian version of the show called Bigg Boss.

Sadly, while she was on this show, hosted by Shilpa, she was first told she had the cancer that would ultimately claim her life.

The nobody who turned herself into our sweetheart

SO, she's gone. And no, it doesn't seem right or fair.

For weeks now we have been looking through the window of this young woman's living death. And yes, I know it was her who invited us to look. But there's part of me that wished I could have looked away. Because it's been cruel and awful.

But then Jade's life didn't really start till she stepped into the spotlight. This troubled young woman who often missed out on love or compassion from her family was, after Big Brother, suddenly getting both from strangers, from her audience, from people in the street. THEY became her family.

To them Jade was the British embodiment of the American dream because, against all the odds, this loud girl from Bermondsey had made it. She got the money, she got the fame, she got the success and far from resenting her, the British working class was GLAD for her.

They were proud of her too because she'd allowed them to think that if SHE could do it, maybe they could too . . .

Somehow this girl who wasn't clever or educated has touched us all in a way we could never have imagined. It took a killer cancer for us to see her in all her glory-her guts, her determination, her sheer bloody mindedness in making sure that while cancer might rob her of HER life it sure as hell wasn't going to rob her sons of the one she'd planned for them.

It's hard to remember that seven years ago this girl was a national laughing stock and now she has become like a member of the family-some one we love, but don't always like. Someone we like to have around-but not all the time. Someone who can be great company -but also annoying.

She not only made her way into our living rooms, she made it into our hearts as well. And even though all Jade did was let us into her life she has become a heroine-a beacon for all that is brave and strong.

Whatever anyone thought about Jade, it's undeniable she fought this disease like a lioness. She has shown selflessness and courage, caring nothing about herself-only about what will happen to her beloved boys.

There was a time I didn't like Jade Goody. But I hadn't met her then. The minute I did I saw that she was strong and kind and loyal.

I hope these last few years-the ones filled with love, laughter, success and money-have been enough to make up for her painful start in life. I hope the love she found with Jack made up for the years without love. And I hope she died knowing she had done everything possible for her boys.

I'll miss her. I'll miss that huge smile, that raucous laugh and the energy that was coursing through her almost till the end.

But most of all I'll miss what she stood for.

Jade Goody showed the world that just because someone has a disastrous start in life, just because they grow up with no money and no hope-don't dare write them off.

All they need is a chance. Jade Goody was given that chance. And she took it by the scruff of the neck and ran with it till the day she died.

Bubbly jade had instant star quality

I VIVIDLY remember the first time I set eyes on Jade.

The application process for Big Brother 3 started with people sending in videos of themselves. I can't remember most of the ones the producers showed me.

Then suddenly this girl popped up, talking nineteen-to-the-dozen while passing herself through an elastic band.

I couldn't understand a word she said, but her babbling and infectious giggle made me laugh.

We really got to know Jade though when the shortlisted candidates were invited for in-depth interviews. She was nervous and talked too quickly, but she revealed a side of herself that showed real depth as she talked about her upbringing, looking after her mum, her relationship with her dad and much more.

I remember being surprised at how perceptive she was. She lit up the room-she had the X Factor.

I think she was the first person we cast that year in 2002, and I remember thinking that if she could survive the first eviction vote and people's initial impressions of her, she might do OK.

Real

As soon as Jade went into the house she divided opinion, enthralling and appalling people in equal measure. Some found her uneducated, brash, and argumentative. Many told me that "someone like her shouldn't be on television".

But while the snobs were wringing their hands, millions more people connected with Jade. They saw her vulnerability and that she was truthful, honest and real.

She emerged from the house the first (and probably only) A-list star of reality TV, and she went on to cleverly exploit herself as a brand. She became more than "that shouty person off Big Brother" and people admired her for it.

Of course she almost lost all that with her now notorious second visit to the Big Brother House for Celebrity Big Brother. I visited her afterwards and she was distraught that the future she'd built for her kids could vanish.

But with real strength of character she turned it round by continuing to live her life as a story-right until the end. And I admire her honesty and bravery for showing the world the pain and fear she went through.

Dear Jade so sorry for what has happened, i know i never met you but like many people i feel like we were friends. I prayed so hard that you wud survive and be there for your boys but it was not meant to be. Deepest sympathy to the boys,Jackiey Jack and Jeff. jade so sorry it had to be mothers day you pass away,your boys would of been ready to spend this day with you as a mother my heart is broken thinking of your boys but i am so glad you are not in pain anymore ,so now you can look down and think i am so proud of want i did in those years i was on earth ,i told you weeks ago my mum lost her breast to cancer ,will she just told me she would change places with you anytime you are all she talks about and she said she lived her live but you did,nt its so unfair , but we hope now that the age limit for screening come down to 20 and that way young people like yourself need not go though this hell you just gone though ,so jade your a brave young girl for telling your story and now are grief is for your family you have left behind i think every one in england are with them right now ,so you go and have a ball in heaven love to you baby girl

I hope everyone does what is right by Jade's boys and continue to share memories, talk it through and be as honest as possible with them. This is the time for Jack to grow up and be a man and put his turbulent past behind him and for Jeff to be strong and think only of his lads who have gone through more terrible loss than they probably will ever know.

I have just been out shopping with my Mum and she was sad because her family are the other end of the country but I said what counts is that youre there with them in spirit and you see them as much as you can when you can. There will be other opportunities. Sadly for Bobby and Freddie, they won't have further moments, memories or snapshots.

im totally devastated, for jack, jackiey, jeff, the boys and close friends. im so glad ur not suffering anymore jade, although we all new what the outcome was going to be for you, i've been praying everyday that god would spare you, for you to stay with your lovely boys. you fought for them so galliantly. they're a credit to you, im sure there will be many people that will always keep bobby and freddie happy. your passing has made mothers day a very sad day as all us mums will be thinking of your boys, and others who have had to say goodbye to their mummies. its truly heartbreaking. jade you've been so couragous how you've helped so many people to understand just how important it is to get themselves checked out, this disease is cruel and if not picked up on early enough will destroy you in the worst possible way. i prey that medics will take more care with their patients in the future so that nobody else has to suffer such an awful end. at midday today my family and i will hold a minutes silence in respct to jade and her family, anybody that reads this message please do the same, everyone come together and embrace jades family with love. travel in peace jade, i'll never forget your smiling face. x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x

I didn't always like Jade Goody and i will freely admit this but over the past few weeks i have watched her handle a situation i cant even comprehend in a way so unique to her that i grew to have a great respect for her. The way she handled her illness was not everyones way but it was jades way, distasteful to some maybe but so very Jade and she has secured her sons futures in the only way she knew how. God bless you Jade you were an icon and will not be forgotten. u were the perfect mother to sons freddie and bobby! i watched the wedding on living and OMG i cried! :( i was beautiful!
My Love goes out to jack, freddie, bobby and the rest of you family and friends!
It must be deverstating for freddie and bobby to loose their amazing mother on Mother's Day!
you will be dearly missed!
