I'm the real daddy, Alfie

And I want a DNA test to prove it

A SECOND teenage boy last night claimed HE-and NOT 13-year-old Alfie Patten-is the REAL dad of 15-year-old Chantelle Steadman's newborn baby Maisie.

Richard Goodsell, aged 16, insisted he often shared a bed with Chantelle over a period of THREE MONTHS around the time she fell pregnant-and sensationally demanded a DNA test to PROVE he's the daddy.

Young mum Chantelle and baby-faced 13-year-old Alfie Patten made headlines around the world this week when they told their story, vowing to be good parents to their six-day-old daughter.

But the News of the World can today reveal that as well as second maybe-dad Richard a THIRD lad, 14-year-old Tyler Barker, fears he may have fathered little Maisie.

READ: ALFIE AGREES TO DNA TEST

And amazingly the News Of The World has uncovered claims that Chantelle was sleeping with as many as EIGHT teenage boys around the time the baby was conceived on the Old Town estate in Eastbourne, Sussex.

Richard, a trainee chef, said he had sex at least three times with Chantelle at her home, adding: "I KNOW I could be the father. Everyone thinks I am. My friends all tell me that baby has my eyes- even my mum thinks so.

"Only a DNA test is going to sort this out properly. If I am the father, I have the right to know."

Hope

And anxious schoolboy Tyler admitted: "I slept with Chantelle in her bed about nine months ago and I'm really worried I could be the father.

"I hope it's NOT me. All my mates have been teasing me about it but this isn't funny, it's serious."

Both boys and their parents have made sworn statements in front of a solicitor detailing their nights of sex with Chantelle.

But Chantelle's family insist she lost her virginity to Alfie and 7lb 3oz Maisie-born after a five-hour labour at Eastbourne Hospital-is his.

Four-foot Alfie says the baby was conceived when he was just 12 after a single night of unprotected sex. Chantelle claimed she was on the Pill but forgot to take it.

However, Richard last night challenged that, insisting HE was the first in a series of teenage lovers to go with Chantelle.

"We got together within the first week of her moving here about two years ago," he said.

KIDS IN A TANGLE: Alfie & Chantelle insist he's Maisie's dad-but mates argue
KIDS IN A TANGLE: Alfie & Chantelle insist he's Maisie's dad-but mates argue

"She was 13 and I was 14. We dated after meeting at the local shops and I liked her. I thought she was pretty. I used to stay overnight at her house on Fridays and Saturdays.

"We used to sleep in the same bed and within two weeks we'd had full sex. It was in her bedroom while her mum was downstairs.

"We didn't use any contraception. It wasn't my first time. But when we split up I found out that she was having sex with lots of other boys I knew.

"Me and my mates fell out over it." Richard then reeled off a list of 14 and 15-year-old boys who, he claims, slept with Chantelle.

The teenager - who is studying catering at Sussex Downs College - claimed: "To be honest, any one of my mates could be the dad.

"Even Chantelle's mum asked me if I was the father.

"Alfie is saying he's definitely the dad-but we're not so sure.

"I was Chantelle's closest friend and she said I could be part of the baby's life if I wanted.

UNDER WRAPS: Alfie

"She wanted me to be there as a father figure but I didn't fancy that because I have college early in the morning and I didn't want to get up in the night to feed the baby.

"Now though, I just want to face up to it and know the truth."

Richard's mother Barbie-Jayne, 35, backs his story. She has five kids and was a teenager when she gave birth to Richard.

Last night she proudly boasted of twice appearing on TV's Trisha show as a guest on programmes about having an overbearing personality and overactive sex life.

The third lad in the frame, Tyler, also alleged Chantelle bedded a string of teenagers-a claim she denies. He told us: "There's a huge question mark over who the real father is. There's every chance it could be me-but I hope it's not.

"Having sex with her was the worst mistake I've ever made in my life. I wish I'd never met her.

"To be honest I didn't really fancy her. She asked me out a couple of times when she moved down here but I kept turning her down. I thought she was ugly.

"Now I'm terrified that I could be the daddy, and I'm not the only one.

"There are at least five other boys that I know who were all sleeping with her around that time. They're all now wondering, 'Is it me?'

"It was routine for boys to stay over with her in her bed.

"But I only slept with her the once. It was on a Sunday last May shortly after my 14th birthday and it was in her room.

"The next morning at 8.30am, when she should have been going to school, she was helping tidy the house and look after her baby brother.

'TERRIFIED' Tyler, 14
'TERRIFIED' Tyler, 14

"I didn't go to school either and before I left, she told me, 'If you keep it a secret, you can keep coming back for more.' Those were her exact words."

Tyler's dad, Chris Ireland, 44, said: "I had no idea Tyler was round at Chantelle's house because he was meant to be with a mate.

"But when it came out that she was pregnant he came to see me and confessed he HAD slept with her.

"It was about nine months ago and we were very worried. He told me he had full sex with her and I was thinking, 'Oh God, he can't be the father.'

I even had a proper chat with him about his responsibilities and about what he'd have to do if he was the dad.

"But it turns out there are quite a lot of boys who've been with her. Alfie Patten is just one of them.

Only a DNA will determine the truth but I don't think they're about to have one."

Chris, who runs the Eastbourne Utd Colts Under-15 football team, added: "There's not a lot for young lads to do round here. They all hang around in groups of guys and girls on the streets-it's a cocktail for disaster.

"My football team are a good bunch of lads but it only keeps them off the streets three days a week."

Chris also claimed that Chantelle's mother Penny and Richard's mother Barbie-Jayne were embroiled in a huge row in the street several months ago.

Grim

He claimed: "Babs and Penny had this noisy altercation after it was discovered that Chantelle was pregnant.

"It was over rumours that the father of the baby was Babs' son Richard."

Young Tyler's own mother left six years ago. With a history of anger management problems he was permanently excluded from school for three months but is about to restart his education.

As he detailed his own concerns he painted a grim picture of life on the Old Town estate-with appalling parallels to Channel 4 comedy drama show Shameless.

The only difference is the total absence of anything remotely funny.

Use a condom

how stupid of the parents letting them share same room surely they must have realsed they would have sex.

By m.. Posted February 18 2009 at 3:27 PM.

This sounds like just another day in America, we have the Maury show where tons of teens just like this girl come on the show looking for their 'baby daddies' shown on network TV 3 times a day. YouTube it.

By American.. Posted February 18 2009 at 2:41 AM.

i am from india and i dont know how the brits take this but your society has declined to hell

By anonymous.. Posted February 18 2009 at 4:31 AM.

well i think its stupid being a father at such and early age

By Ben.Dy.. Posted February 18 2009 at 1:51 AM.

This is a real shame, I feel sorry for the baby. But hey, at least they didn't take the baby's precious life by trying to abort. Sex ed. is obviously not working--all they preach about is abstinence. What about drug education? All it does is tempt the kids to go out and try it. At least talk about condums, the pill, and other forms of STD protection and birth control. If you can't stop them from doing it, at least control the problem.

And my gosh, what about the parents of the 15 yr old girl? What the heck did they think was going on in her bedroom? That was so irresponsible that they let their daughter have boys sleep over. Morals are going down the drain. Sex before marraige is only a little bit debatable among religions, but how can peers approve the morality of a girl sleeping with at least 8 different guys in the span of 3 months? That's extreme. Someone like that in society is called a harlot and is generally unliked and outcasted. I'm not saying it's her fault though, she probably wasn't raised right.

To Stacey. I am amazed that you think that schools are somehow responsible for this sorry state of affairs.
What you have to realise is that there are only so many school hours in a day and what with all the extra pressures upon the school system, such as programs for this and that, everytime the government has a new initiative or something else is determined to be lacking in childrens welfare, it's dropped on the schools to try and fit it in to the program, being social workers to the children in their charge, even feeding breakfast to some of them, who come to school hungry, it becomes increasingly difficult to get around to the actual teaching part of the job. Some of this work should be done by that other group of people in childrens lives, called parents..! If it were, then schools would be able to focus on actually teaching things like numeracy and literacy, something which is evidently suffering in your school..!

By Pete.. Posted February 17 2009 at 11:59 PM.

Only in Britain.

Readers: get on with your miserable lives and leave these stupid kids to get back to their stupid lives.

OMG i think that none of this would of happend if schools did more about sex and what we could do to STOP teenage pregneces so stop patining a black and white pictuer and look at thr really problems ?????

i feel so so sorry 4 the baby

By autumnskin.. Posted February 17 2009 at 2:06 PM.

I think this is a shame!!! That children that is suppose to enjoy their life and be children have to raise children, because of stupidity! I feel sorry for them because I don't think they know WHAT it takes to be parents, and what responsibility it takes to raise a child! What happened to the world!! If this was my child she would have had the spanking of her LIFE!!! But you can't really expect anything more from children that doesn't get raised properly by their parents! And then you get two snotnose kids that THINK they are so mature to raise a baby?? I am 26 and I only think I'm mature now to have children, and put someone elses life in my hands... Sjuim, what a bondage on that poor childs life already! Two children of 15 and 13 years old that can't even remember to bring their shoes home after school!

By Bianca.. Posted February 17 2009 at 1:58 PM.

Just one of those many results of people who made a baby because they have the organs, no planning whatsoever! The blame is not on the teens as they did only what can be expected in families where children are not guided. Parents, just know that to have a child that you have not planned for is a sin as you are only fuelling the ranks of the devil!

By kabo.. Posted February 17 2009 at 12:56 PM.

How disgusting is this? I really pity that baby. At least they should have thought about where to get the money to raise Maisie. And the mother! Is she really that stupid to think that her daughter wasn't doing anything wrong. Good job being posted on the headlines. The society is apparently losing its dignity.

By ast.. Posted February 17 2009 at 11:47 AM.

Whats done is done. Now let them raise their family. So many men claim they are not a childs father and get called out by a DNA test. Now we have a young father accepting his actions and manning up to them. Yes they will need support from there family and friends. The only reason this has made the news is because she decided not to abort the child and the father steped up.
If you want to laugh watch Springer or Jermey Kyle shows.

By Drifter.. Posted February 17 2009 at 8:55 AM.

I agree that these kids having sex was a BIG mistake, but I think they're making up for it, just for WANTING to try to give this little girl the best life. I don't see why everyone has a problem with teenage pregnancies, my sister had her first at 16 and so did my best friend, and i think in both cases, it was the best thing to happen to both of them. A child is a blessing, and all ANYONE, in ANY situation, is to do their best. So stop slandering these people, they only made a mistake, and I'm sure everyone in the world has made mistakes too, so we can't really accuse them of being stupid.

By Krysy.. Posted February 17 2009 at 8:17 AM.

I'm 15 and live in Australia now, i used to live in East Midlands and to be honest i'm glad i left when i did. Things like this infuriate me! I'm her age and i couldn't evenn imagine having a child at 15. Absolutely shocking. I can't believe her parents would let her get into such a sitation! She's 15 and she has guys sleeping over, fair enough if it was one guy and they'd been dating a while but different guys?! What do you expect! Poor baby, being brought up in a shocking environment. In that photo she's sat there smiling with the 13 year old "boyfriend" does she not realize how low she looks?

if this young couple didnt believe they could take on such a responsability then she would of had an abortion im sure there choice was a well thought one and i admire them both and the families supporting them if this case is worse then it looks then further action would have been taken before now i wish them both luck in the future and just hope that they can hold it together and be loving parents to their beautiful baby daughter

By ben.. Posted February 17 2009 at 12:57 AM.

I am now living in Australian but was brought up in Eastbourne and lived in Old Town as a teenager, I am amazed to read that there is nothing for the kids to do except hang around the streets, in the sixties we had so much to do and so many places to go like Finches, The Continental and many others coffee bars and we all had a great time I can not recall any teenagers hanging rounds streets, this story was sad to read

I will only say that political correctness, diversity & gender confusion is doing the same thing to America that it has done to the late great United Kingdom!

By quantumfoam.. Posted February 16 2009 at 9:54 PM.

I'm shocked by the judging and blame throwing going on here. Teenagers have been having sex (and sometimes getting pregnant) since time began. This is nothing new. These kids have brought a baby into the world, not robbed an old granny. If it was an accident, so be it. Worse things happen.

I'm an accidental baby myself (my mum was 16), and I would have hated her to be ridiculed in this way. I'm very happy she had me!

Fair play to them for being positive and making a go of it. I wish them well, and hope Maisie has a happy childhood.

By accidental baby.. Posted February 16 2009 at 7:48 PM.

you sick brits... wtf happened to your morals?

By Arman.. Posted February 16 2009 at 8:35 PM.

I am absolutely disgusted with this and feel sorry that this poor baby is wrapped up in this warped story. Whatever happened to kids being kids.....having unprotected sex at the age of 16 and as young as 14 and 12 is unbelievable and it is time that the parents take some responsibility for this mess.
There are people in this world that would long for a child and here you are....hearing about how a set of parents are going to try and support their child when there are not even legally allowed to work any decent hours in order to support a child.
Why is it, that a working class family struggles to provide a decent life with their kids because of the tax we pay to fund the lives of these 'kids' and their families. This baby has no life with this child mother and should be placed with a loving home with a stable environment....shame on all those involved for not taking more productive action!

Where are the parents? What in the world is going on? This girl is obviously out of controll, and there apprears to be no parental guidance in her home! This whole story is reprehensible. Are there no morals in this world? This is a very sad and tragic commentary on today's society. The real loser in this scenario is the baby. Shameful.

By Maggie.. Posted February 16 2009 at 6:15 PM.

The real tragedy is that this dysfunctional way of life will continue to be passed on from generation to generation.

Whose to blame? Its easy to point at one person or one behavior and blame that. The sad fact is there is a lot of blame to go around from the Dad that abandoned his family, to the mother that is pursuing her own life while her teenage daughter stays home alone to babysit. The adult parents leave their children to get by own their own and wonder why this happens. The teenage girl needs a male figure in her life and seeks it in the wrong way thinking that sex will bring her love and fill the emptiness left by her father and mother's abandonment. They both abandoned her just in different ways.

The only cure is for everyone to do the right thing and quit pursuing their own selfish interests. Time for the men to stand by their families and time for women to value their daughter's futures more important than their pursuit of another man.

By Texas.. Posted February 16 2009 at 6:06 PM.

freaking disgusting

By andy.. Posted February 16 2009 at 5:53 PM.

Kids having sex equals disaster in more ways than one. They should have been taught that love waits and waiting is the right thing to do.

If ever there were poster children for abstaining this bunch would be it.

There is plenty of blame to go around from the parents of ALL the kids, the girl and all the boys. Now I have to wonder about STD's?

Let's bring old fashioned back and wait until you're married.

By Dave.. Posted February 16 2009 at 5:49 PM.

This disgusts me. Whoever is responsible for these teenagers obviously didn't raise them properly and they are just following in their footsteps. These teens are still children and act as if they are grown adults. They need boot camp.

The parents are barely "Role Models", No wonder the kids turn out so bad.

I believe it is partly there fault, The lacking sex-education in schools is also bad enough.

And, Last of all.. A large part comes down to the kids. Seriously, What kid would want to raise a kid? (What do they get in return, That they couldnt wait atleast another 4-5years for?)

It really is getting worse and worse..

What sane mother of a 13 year old girl lets her have boys sleep over?!

By Hans Meiser.. Posted February 16 2009 at 4:36 PM.

I do not comprehend why there is so much outcry regarding this case,I am a foreigner here married a to a 30 year old British Girl who said there was a similar case in her school as a young girl and that was 15 years ago. While I agree in a progressive society,i do strongly believe that the country is gradually becoming increasingly immoral and hopeless.there is so much double standards and double talk from both the government and their advisers, the police prosecute a shop for selling ciggarettes to under 16s but the police ignore it when they see kids under the age of 10 in uniform smoking on the streets. This kind of gross behavior would contine to occur until this country stops treating children like adults.I am very frightened when I learn that Gps could actually give teenagers all sorts of sexual tablets, pills ,abortion etc confidentially, now that is scary!!! I am not preaching religion but we have do things with a bit of common sense which is increasingly becoming very uncommon.

By US.. Posted February 16 2009 at 4:19 PM.

This is what happens when you allow those with the loosest morals - actors, musicians, and other celebrities - to dicatate the social norms of society. Popular media and advertising is built around exploiting the sex drive - these kids growing up are pounded night and day with the idea that the sole purpose of life is to "hook up" and have sex. That sleeping around is the mark of adulthood. People, stop genuflecting at the alter of popular media - you are condemning the future in exchange for the privelege of being "entertained"

By mike.. Posted February 16 2009 at 3:58 PM.

What will happen now moving foward-I think that they should just go for councelling so that they are made aware of what they will be facing as young parents-especially the girl!

By Anon... Posted February 16 2009 at 3:16 PM.

This must be an international news.
I am from Japan, and there are various opinions for Chantelle's sex life on the web - since she is only 15.
I think that NUMBER 1 she should not have sex without using condom (although that's too late to say so), and number 2 is that she has to be "mentally" ready to give up all her child-hood experiences for devoting Maisie's growth - which is very very difficult thing to do.
I am only 20s so that I cannot tell her what 40s might be able to say, but I hope she has a happy life because she is only 15 and has a lot of chance to learn from her "mistakes."
Good Luck! Chantelle!

By 2ch.. Posted February 16 2009 at 2:35 PM.

you really could not make this up could you.
Still, what do we expect? As a society, family is nowhere near a priorty. Due to slack family values within education, for instance how many Male teachers are there these days? There's very little respect for fatherhood. To listen how women speak about men, throughout the media, Schools etc why should we be surprised?

By Roll T.. Posted February 16 2009 at 1:58 PM.

Sad but this is literally a daily occurance here in the States. It's so common that the media turns a blind eye to the problem. We saw young teens and even a much hyped 12 year old giving birth during hurricane Katrina.

I agree ... the problem is with society and the government. Our media shapes the ideals in those young minds. We are continually reeping the result from a media out of control and promoting social irresponsibility.

By Leon.. Posted February 16 2009 at 1:05 PM.

Babies having babies. And yet they have brought a new life into the world. Find out who is the father, make him pay support. Alfie has stepped forward to be the baby daddy, (in more way than one!) The couple stand a better chance of making a family than one of the other two potential fathers who haven't stepped forward.
I wish them both all the lucky in the world, they are going to need it.

I think they should find out who the father, whoever it is I wish them all the luck in the world. But I hope they learnt their lesson which is to put something on the end of it...x Lols because I hope that this mistake would never happen again because its absolutely WRONG.

By Katie 17.. Posted February 16 2009 at 11:51 AM.

Alfie doesn't look like he's been through puberty yet, chances of him being the father are slim.

Take your pick.

By Greenmeats.. Posted February 16 2009 at 10:34 AM.

i do not think parents are to blame at all. I know people who have had sex, who are under 16, and have pregnancy scares and they're parents are great. So it can't always be parents. A lot of teenage girls see TV shows and just genera women with young children and they're adorable. Sex Ed, nothings going to work there! I've had talks, videos, lectures and yeah for a moment its made me think but then the hormonel side of you takes over. I personally think Sex Ed is a little bit pointless. They shouldn't be telling teens not to have sex because that just makes it more fun. Contraception should be learnt about and not just condoms, they're the most annoying things ever. Talk to children about 'The Pill', there is loads of different styles. An implant. A femidom. But kids don't get told about them so you just assum condoms are all you've got and they're not fun.

By Cindy.. Posted February 16 2009 at 10:37 AM.

These kids are to young and are not grown up enough to bring up a baby, now there fighting over whos the father, this is disgusting and i'd be very ashamed to be there parents, This is getting worse more and more kids are having babies, this is why so many babies are being mistreated when a child wouldnt know how to look after a baby.
Who the hell would let kids at that age stay over night in the same beds?

Don't see any disapproval of the children relationship and sex in so young ages. But they should know about possible fatal consequences.
So I agree with most of the speakers, parents have had to give them so necessary warnings before it happend. And one more question: Were was looking Chantelle’s mother when her daughter invited boys one by one and spent time alone with them?

By Andrey.. Posted February 16 2009 at 9:49 AM.

I think kids understand and know what sex is but just do not fear the fact of what it is there for... when i was 13 i do not evan think i knew a lot about sex just what its there for.
we can give them all the lessons about it we want but kids think its "cool" to have sex now so thats the consequence and we just have to get used to the fact that teenage pregnancy is here to stay.

By Vernon.. Posted February 16 2009 at 9:19 AM.

I am 17 and have lived in a council house all of my life.
I've gown up with people like this and watched as they threw their lives.
By the time I left School there were at least 4 girls with babies, one girl had two toddlers.
It has become such a problem that I remember a girl 2 years below me being shocked when I told her my eldest sister (19 at the time) had no children.

I do agree that parents are to blame to a certain extent.
I believe a lot of parents when young had nothing else to do, no self control, and the child that followed was just an after thought.

However, the Children are just as bad. They decided not to learn from their parents mistakes, and instead repeat history, sadly something their children will now probably do.

Even though I am talking about my generation, It is obvious younger people now know their rights far too well, and are ready to use them as threats.
Some blameless parents do their best, yet can only watch as their children run riot and are scared to discipline them for fear of social services being called, by their own children!

And for the Government, why are we surprised? They've failed us in every other way and are running this Country into the ground. But as long as they have their bulging bank accounts, why should they care?

I can only hope that the poor baby in this story that clearly nobody is thinking about, and are more concerned about their 15 minutes of fame and possible money rewards, does not turn out like her Mother.

By Kelly.. Posted February 16 2009 at 9:18 AM.

Ard, don't be ridiculour. The Netherlands have a very low abortion rate, as wel as a low pregnancy rate. Do you know why? Because the Dutch practise this little thing called PARENTING. And because we talk to our kids openly about sex, rather than making it a secret, exciting thing.

By miss q.. Posted February 16 2009 at 9:43 AM.

Kids are gonna do what they want to do. It doesn't matter how many times the parents talk to them, or the schools talk to them, or the government provides things to do. Kids are going to find time to explore one another. Unfortunately, some kids just don't take the necessary precautions. No one is really to blame, except for hormones and lack of self control, but then again, who wasn't incredibly spontaneous at 13, 14, and 15? I was. And I can tell you that I wasn't ABOUT to wait until I was 23 and well established in my career to have sex. I just made sure I was protected. Like these kids should have done. But, now that they DID pop a little one out, I think that, as parents, they should support their kids, and not abandon them like some of you commenters have said that they should. Who is the real monster? The parent that wasn't able to keep an eye on their kid 24/7 while trying to pay for their current lifestyle, and is now trying to pay for that mistake by helping with the baby? Or the person that claimed that they would dump their kids ass out on the street?

By Chris.. Posted February 16 2009 at 9:42 AM.

far as im concerned they need to amp up the sex ed in that town, in these articles they are all teenage parents of the kids with 5, 6 7 8 kids in total, and with the best job listed being a soccer coach, something needs to be done there and fast.

By evan l.. Posted February 16 2009 at 9:32 AM.

i no alot of babys having babys they cant do it and neather will they. if a child who is in this posison can not look after herself can not look after a infent and then theres the 13yr old bf when he hits 15 dose she think hes really ganna stick round. they had opsions but ignord them all its there own falts now they must live with it.

By L.Hudo.. Posted February 16 2009 at 9:27 AM.

It's pretty easy to blame and criticize. What's done is done, and there's no more to it. What these teenagers need is help...

By Andrew.. Posted February 16 2009 at 8:16 AM.

I will lend you Oboma. He will fix your problems a lot of people here in the US think he is our savor. I would be more than glad to send him over to you guys for say oh 4 years. To fix your problems LOL.

my heart really does go out to these kids just hope they can keep it together it is possible (:

By ben .. Posted February 16 2009 at 6:28 AM.

i dont blame the parents for this i was a care-free teen when i fathered my son at 14 and my mum was there to support me i think if these kids have the support they need and try hard enough they will become loving parents and do a great job raising their beautiful little girl they should be proud it must be hard for them both but im sure everything will work out in the end.

By ben.. Posted February 16 2009 at 6:21 AM.

The blame can go many different directions here -

Parents: with the dad not being there and the mom obviously not putting much effort into disciplining her daughter, something like this was bound to happen.

Kids: The girl was obviously very needy, and whether or not some of these boys were lying out wanting 15 minutes of fame, it's clear that none of them are responsible people.

Sex Ed: Let's be honest now. Of all y'all who waited, was it because of your upbringing or because of the schools?

The Government: They don't really share any direct blame, but if they had stricter laws regarding this sort of thing, and better enforcement for them, then it would discourage people. Then again, with better upbringing, such laws would be unnecessary.

Society: Again, let's be honest. It's not just Britain that has more sexually open tv shows, magazines, etc. Putting that in people's heads just to make people buy their products is downright shameful.

I am a single mum and I am 36, single only because of a marriage breakdown, don't tar all single mums with the same brush. I am an adult and doing a great job of raising my son by myself, there are no needs he has that I can't fulfil. Single mum is one thing, a 'child single mum' is another category altogether. The 'Lord' has nothing to do with anything, reality and education is what is needed not religious lecturing. I am going to show my son this article. Hopefully by seeing the consequences of this situation he will choose a good path in his teens. Whatever could have been done to prevent this situation obviously didn't get through. At the end of the day, Maisie is here now, I just hope she is loved and educated so that she doesn't make Chantelle a Grandma in her 20's....

By E.Clifford-Smith.. Posted February 16 2009 at 5:15 AM.

How is the government responsible? If the parents of these kids had done a better job of raising their children, then no one would be having sex with anyone else, right? What is the government supposed to do about that?

By Lexie.. Posted February 16 2009 at 5:14 AM.

This is a sad sick story. Nothing this day & time we live in suprises me anymore. We are living in the last days definately, It seems like they`re proud of what they done, I would be embarressed by this story getting out. Let them have their dna test that will prove who the dad is, but again this is a sick story, babies having babies, this happens in the United States also.

By G. L... Posted February 16 2009 at 5:03 AM.

I am a single mum to a 9 year old boy and I am horrified. Where is the balance and education at home for these kids in regards to sex and the consequences? The parents have a lot to answer for. There is a lack of respect for themselves, each other and this poor little mite Maisie. Chantelle seems like a little tart who should have been educated to close her legs and spend her pocket money on sweeties. Instead it's all going on nappies and formula.

By E.Clifford-Smith.. Posted February 16 2009 at 4:47 AM.

Poor Sex education in the school system is not the problem.. Problem is that people think it is the school's responsibility to teach sex to their kids?! That is laughable.. grow up parents! Teach your kids about sex at home.. you will be comfortable doing so if you have a decent relationship w/ your kids and the Lord! Don't go blaming the school because your 14 yr old daughter has shown up pregnant due to her lack of self worth and need for male acceptance.. look into your own home! And this goes the same for the boys who father these kids! Single Mom's you have a big one to answer to.. and what about laying out with looser men when YOU showed up pregnant yourselves?! *sigh* It's really NOT hard to keep from getting pregnant when you are taught by your parents what sex is for, when it is the time to have it and why the Lord gave us this.. Jesus.. understand him and his ways and I guarantee you you'll get a good dose of self worth and you wont have the desire as a kid to go and get drunk, get high and have sex before you get married..

"i am totally disgusted on is story, It is appalling for two under 16 years who had share a bed and made a baby. "

WHAT?! You have GOT to be kidding me? Is THIS what disgusts you about this who senario?! Oh my word!!!

What SHOULD disgust everyone is that these kids had no more self value or worth than to do the things that they were doing.. especially that yound girl! What I find revolting is the girls Mom! She was FAR too giving.. this girl had freedoms NO girl her age should have.. maybe her Mom was at work.. ok.. so where is Daddy?! Oh, yeah, right.. he took off long ago.. problem no 1!

what a horrid situation for all involved,i hope this can get sorted in a more private manner, poor wee baby

manditory adoption for any child born to a girl under the legal age of consent unless legally married.

By adam.. Posted February 16 2009 at 4:14 AM.

Okay, am I the ONLY one thinking, who in the world in their right mind is going to allow their daughter,at ANY AGE,have a boy over to spend the night ANDDDD in the same room?!HELLO!*SIGH*This is lack of moral upbringing. shame on the this girls Mom and shame on the parent's of ALL these boys.I am married and we have 3 kids of our own.we have worked our rears off to have this life style.nothing good comes early and there is no such thing as instant gradification.something I fear that many young people think they are owed in this world... I have my nose in my kid's crap constantly.. they may not like it, but one day they will thank me for it. Oh yeah.. and we read our Bible and go to church something that I guarantee you WONT hear any of these kids talking about.. let alone if they can quote scripture because they are familiar with any of it or actually UNDERSTAND what the meat of the Bible is about! And we thought we had problems when my husband was looking for a job.. oh please.. the parents of these poor lost kids have bigger fish to fry.. they have been given a responsibility by the Lord to raise these kids.

Those that claim British teens are troublesome and such, need to remember whose generation raised them.

By Sam.. Posted February 16 2009 at 3:50 AM.

Bravo UK! You're all the best! Great schools, great parenting, great health care... really...you're the tops.

By Digitalrich.. Posted February 16 2009 at 3:50 AM.

i am totally disgusted on is story, It is appalling for two under 16 years who had share a bed and made a baby.

Do you have a clue on how to bring one up or is it a joke, I am 23 year Old man who to be quite far i lead a normal life who works very hard and to pay for is child benefit out of my taxs. They parents are also to blame because they was not paying attentions to them.

I am sure it is a big surprise to learn you be a mum or dd at any age, but they children themselves, they should not be bring a baby up atthey ages, i am not perfect i have a girlfriend who i been with for some years, i am not up for settingup home at my ages, when i was 13 all I wanted to do was play with my mates, i not interested in sex and they told be given a slap around the head.

I hope they get the support they need and the restless nights are to come.

Enjoy the rest of you teens. You going to need it

Vicki, it takes 2 to tango.

If anything, 'Chantelle' was the horny twit.

By No Vicki.. Posted February 16 2009 at 2:58 AM.

after reading the article a serious focus on sex education and the consequences of promiscuity is required in Britain if this is what young people view as acceptable behaviour.

after reading the comments on this page literacy needs to be next on the list.

By lmc.. Posted February 16 2009 at 2:54 AM.

Its because of British teenagers lack of respect for anything or anyone, and the parents who are nearly as bad, I decided to move my family away from the UK. I am married with 3 children and believe the the UK has no chance of regaining any decency in society. Good luck Britain, Im so glad I got out.

By s jones.. Posted February 16 2009 at 2:45 AM.

I think that what has happened here is a big problem but i don't think that the answer is to make it into a joke which some of you have. There is a life here at stake and they can't look after themselves, we should remember that.
I think the answer here is that we have to put into place a program to educate these kids about why you have sex and what happens when you don't protect yourself. Maybe the answer is that under a certain age they have to give the child up for adoption. There are plenty of people out there that are unable to have children of there own. They should be given the opportunity to raise a child. Lets face it these kids are too young to raise a child themselves cause clearly they can't look after themselves. How are they going to look after a child.

By kristie styman.. Posted February 16 2009 at 2:44 AM.

Wait just a minute... Zoe, You go to college? And you type like that? You might want to get your money back, because it's obviously NOT working.

By Anonymous.. Posted February 16 2009 at 2:35 AM.

Poor little Maisie is the one who will suffer regardless of which horny little twit is the father. Where was Chantelle's mother when these children were occupying her daughter's bed? I am the mother of 3 young men and from the time they were 12, I have been instructing my boys on "ALWAYS using a condom". I have tried to teach them that for their own health and "safety" they should "ALWAYS" use a condom.
I'm not a perfect parent by any means, but I always knew where my kids were, who they were with and what they were up to. I also kept an open dialogue with my boys about sex, std's, etc.
The creation of life is a beautiful thing, but once you're a parent it's also a forever thing!!!!
