EFFING RECORD

Gordon Ramsay swears 132 times in 2-hour show

OBSCENE: Chef Gordon Ramsay
OBSCENE: Chef Gordon Ramsay

THE heat's on Gordon Ramsay after he used the F-word a record 132 times.

His two-hour show Ramsay's Great British Nightmare was peppered with the obscenity.

He screamed at staff in two failing restaurants, who hit back with 50 F-words of their own.

Ramsay tried to rescue The Runaway Girl in Sheffield and the Dovecote Bistro in Devon in Friday's special. He bellowed at Runaway Girl boss Justin Rowntree: "Your business is f*****d." He added: "What a f***ing muppet."

And in Devon, Gordon was just millimetres from hopeless chef Mick Martin's face as he yelled: "What f***ing makes me furious is you think you can get away with re-heating f***ing food." Off camera, crazed Ramsay shattered a £1,000 flat screen TV and smashed two tables. Mick, 55, said last night: "Gordon was a bully. He deliberately wound me up."

Channel 4 had 49 complaints but is braced for more. Watchdog Mediawatch UK yesterday urged the government to withdraw the channel's public funding. Boss director John Beyer said: "Gordon doesn't need to swear. There's so much public concern about swearing on TV."

Channel 4 defended Gordon, 42, who the News of the World revealed last year has cheated on his wife. A spokesman said: "It was after the watershed. The swearing is a expression of Gordon's passion."

I love how some of you people live in a foo foo fantasy world. If you go behind the doors into the kitchen on a busy night you will hear cussing among others things. it is apart of how the subculture of chefs communicate. He is the way he is because that is how you have to get through to chefs. I am sure some came in there and was nice and said you need clean things up. But they didnt. bet their stuff is clean after GR chews their butt for a while. so next time you spend 2 hours on the toilet you might wish GR had said the eff word to the last person that cooked for you. becausee people die from food bourne illness everyday. I think it is a small price to pay for saftey, sanitation and profit.

Hey... Some of these people are lucky that it is Gordon Ramsey that goes in there restaurants
basically some restaurants are not clean. Even here in America there was restaurants that he went to that was not clean. These restaurants are lucky it was not the Health Inspector. In the end of the show they have a better menu and he cleans it up. It is all free for them. So they should not complain. Come on now. They knew that he swore before they went on the show.

Ramsey's Sound, as far as I can tell, I met him a coupla years ago and his language was just swell. Twas at Ronan O'Gara's wedding feast and Gordon was in charge of the food, the last word I'd use to describe the dude, was certainly NOT rude.
We have the capacity to expose the general public and particularly youngsters to absolutely anything nowadays because of the diversity of means of media distribution and the subject of sensible censorship should be brought more urgently back to the table, especially since the J. Ross affair-------food for thought?

By Peter Kraus.. Posted February 2 2009 at 3:25 PM.

And you really want those chefs to reheat your food when you go to their restaurant?

By Simmo.. Posted February 2 2009 at 6:04 AM.

What is so exciting about a moronic chef who yells and swears his way through a cooking show? He obviously has an attitude problem, I am sure the man has talent, however, you would never know it because he is too busy being a an idiot. There are so many "bleeps" you can't understand what is being said, what a waste of air time.
He has to bully everyone to get his point across, What is he afraid of?

By Denny.. Posted February 2 2009 at 4:18 AM.

hey, good news, most of his restaurants are doing poorly. karma, you gotta love it.

By jim.. Posted February 2 2009 at 1:14 AM.

I own a Restaurant, I would not have allowed Gordon to approach my customers sat at MY tables to sample competitors fayre. I also wonder where Rent a crowd came from within hours of the "PIE Night" introduction.I might take my staff wearing Sandwich Boards to parade outside Gordons Establishments, half his prices. Lets have it fair Gordon, I like your programmes but the Okehampton / Sheffield sagas were below the belt to competitors.

By Dave Ives.. Posted February 1 2009 at 11:19 PM.

Well this is Gordon swear words & all - Dont we all just love him for it though????

Well actually I dont I refuse to watch the xxxx

By David.. Posted February 1 2009 at 6:52 PM.

You dont like it dont watch it, stick 2 ready, steady cook. Everyone knows what Gordans like! keep the show coming its brill.

By Daniel.. Posted February 1 2009 at 5:55 PM.

Why do all these people watch what they don't like!
I for one find GR's programs good and inspiring, he is passionate about food and his business. yes he swears and so do most in his line of work.
Have you ever been on a building site.
Leave this bloke alone he works hard for what he has achieved!

By John.. Posted February 1 2009 at 4:40 PM.

the programme was hilarious . the funniest was when one of the chefs started his swearing tirade! they could not be serious....

By bless.. Posted February 1 2009 at 4:23 PM.

Its not a question of changing channels if you dont like it. Its the idiots who do watch him & let there kids watch him and they think its ok to talk to people with abusive insults. The TV companys will never take action because controversy improves ratings.

That other muppet the lord God Oliver (who uses cooking to save the universe) never used to swear on his show but now they want to cash in on the cooks who swear market ( he cant even be original)I dont buy this passionate so he swears rubbish.
Hes just so full of himself he thinks he can speak to people like there turds. He's a cook for gods sake.

You can shout freedom of speech but this is not America we should take some responsibility, & its what people want well hitler was quite popular & Mr Blobby went to no1. People are stupid & love pointless entertainment whats next alan titmarsh swearing at plants, going into struggling florests. f***** roses with lilies you f***** muppet.

By ste.. Posted February 1 2009 at 4:19 PM.

I echo what David said. If you don't like it simply don't watch it! There are plenty of other channels to choose from. I personally found the programme hillarious. I was crying laughing! Gordon is passionate and inspiring and I can't wait for the new series next Friday.

By 2Tall.. Posted February 1 2009 at 2:49 PM.

For those who have worked in a kitchen will know, that Gordons behaviour is common place. However, I have always felt that Gordon has an anger management problem, and I believe he is heading for a mojor crash and burn...

By MR H.. Posted February 1 2009 at 12:07 PM.

If you don't like it CHANGE CHANNELS. EASY!!!!!!!

By simon.. Posted February 1 2009 at 12:07 PM.

it's a shame. we tried to watch the programme as a family and were fed up half way by the swearing. he can't communicate the useful bits which are interesting and informative without the f word which just gets irritating and boring. it alienates people and he doesn't attract the viewers he could have. this isn't about passion, it's about dominance and agression.

By suki .. Posted February 1 2009 at 1:42 PM.

I simply do not understand why people revere this man...he's an idiot and a moron!

By Ali Sichilongo.. Posted February 1 2009 at 11:34 AM.

I thought the Abi Titmus comment was far more contentious (and amusing)!!

By streaky.. Posted February 1 2009 at 10:53 AM.

You really have to pity this foul mouthed moron. He only swears because has no ability to express himself - just like many English people.

By Wesley.. Posted February 1 2009 at 10:44 AM.

this was funny, i dont think it was gordon swearing as much as that bloke who was supposed to cook for the tapas bar in sheffield... pmsl .. it was the first time id had a good laugh on a friday night for ages, and that arrogant mick,, ohhh he got may goat the way he treated his wife and daughter, with his stinking pre packed food from aldi... lol
well done channel 4 give us more gordon...

By sandra jones.. Posted February 1 2009 at 10:19 AM.

For the first time it seemed to be a competition between the owners/staff and Gordon to see who could swear the most - pathetic!

By jo.. Posted February 1 2009 at 9:54 AM.

Ramsay is one bog BORE. He's not the sharpest tool in the box, and he's a bit of a wimp too. Which is why he tries to act all tough. He thinks swearing is cool, but he's just a mad old hasbeen whose learnt how to knock up a few dishes.

He should get back to scrubbing in the kitchen, and scrubbing his ugly mouth out too while he's at it. It's so boring hearing someone swear non-stop, and I think people should stop watching Channel 4.

By Jan Mansfield.. Posted February 1 2009 at 10:01 AM.

I watched this programme and yes there was alot of swearing but it made me laugh when the chef at the Runaway Girl restraunt launched into his own tirade to his boss the look on Gordons face was priceless he seemed stunned lol,
Gordon does only swear whe he is getting passionate about food so it shows that its his job he loves and is passionate about.

By DIRTYBIRD.. Posted February 1 2009 at 10:09 AM.

Channel 4 had 49 complaints but is braced for more. Watchdog Mediawatch UK yesterday urged the government to withdraw the channel’s public funding. Boss director John Beyer said: “Gordon doesn’t need to swear. There’s so much public concern about swearing on TV.”

I WONDER IF MEDIA WATCH WOULD TELL THE GOVERMENT TO SCRAP THE TV LICENCE IF THIS WAS SHOWN ON BBC INSTEAD OF CHANNEL 4, NO I DONT THINK THEY WOULD SOMEHOW

By rick.. Posted February 1 2009 at 8:33 AM.

he's the man!he's passionate about food & he trying to save businesses this that are failing.what u expect him to do when he has to deal with morons when trying to save businesses!remember he praises the good staff!

By f-word.. Posted February 1 2009 at 8:32 AM.

Easy solution to Gordon's critics. If you don't like swearing, turn to another channel.
Ramsey is Ramsey - what he does on screen isn't exactly something new for him. He cares, he swears and people watch.

Detracters everywhere, please, just don't watch the programme.

By Karen.. Posted February 1 2009 at 9:22 AM.

He is an over paid, arrogant and just generally a big bully boy,he wantsd to grow nup. smashing a tv and tables whats all that about, dont even waste my time watching the loud mouthed arrogant yob.

By Paul.. Posted February 1 2009 at 9:27 AM.

fresh produce, locally sourced - save our local restaurant - the man is a hypocrite with a worldwide franchise of eateries

By abdul.. Posted February 1 2009 at 8:42 AM.

By Harry C.. Posted February 1 2009 at 9:06 AM.

By David.. Posted February 1 2009 at 7:54 AM.

I love Ramsay and his swearing, turn it over if you don't like it!
His new episodes start here in Australia soon can't wait he is inspiring and a master.

By shelley.. Posted February 1 2009 at 6:34 AM.

You are lucky, here in the USA we have BBC America and it seems whatever time you turn it on Ramsey is on,with Kitchen Nightmares, then return to Kitchen Nightmares, and now we have the " F " word, they should change the name of the station to BBC Ramsey, I have already cancelled BBC America from my cable company, enough is enough as he is on for about 6 hours a day. just in time by the sound of it as I can bet the new, Ramsey British Nightmare willbe headed this way.

By Rich.. Posted February 1 2009 at 6:22 AM.

Why is this piece of foul mouthed kitchen trash even given air time. People who want to be bombarded with an avalanche of swearing should form clubs and berate each other.

By Jim SA.. Posted February 1 2009 at 6:11 AM.

Actually Ramsay is only passionate when talking about food and the restaurant industry. If someone in your profession asked for your help to rebuild their struggling business, and you found out that, that person had no idea of the industry they were trying to survive in - i'm sure you would turn the air blue a few times with choice words. Just because Gordon gets paid to assist these so called restaurants, does that mean that his outlook on work and business ethics should change? I think you will find from anyone who knows Gordon Ramsay, that out of the kitchen, he is a totally different person, and his use of obscenities is kept to a minimum. I can guaruntee that almost 85% of people who read this article will use derogatory and foul language in their own work places when discussing work issues or colleagues-so why should Gordon be any different? He doesn't come on in the afternoon or early evening. His shows are always on after 9pm. But as others have already pointed out-if you do not like bad language why are you watching a Gordon Ramsay programme? You're surely not expecting a show with language on a par with the Hoobs??? and if you are-well that explains it all really!

By mr-dav.. Posted February 1 2009 at 3:34 AM.

Gordon is funny love watching him going bonkers at people

By Danny.. Posted February 1 2009 at 2:24 AM.

By ron.. Posted February 1 2009 at 1:55 AM.

By devonshire dumpling.. Posted February 1 2009 at 1:22 AM.

Thought it was hilarious! For those of you who complained, get a life you know Ramsay swears like a trouper, so why even watch it?

By Jay.. Posted February 1 2009 at 1:01 AM.

Channel 4 will defend Gordon as he makes them money. He may have millions but never in a million years could he ever be an English Gentleman, he is just a big mouth bully. It is time to bring good TV programmes back and get rid of Reality TV for good.

By Shadow.. Posted February 1 2009 at 12:36 AM.

what a guy! he did well?!
