I want babies with my Karen

THE vile boyfriend of evil kidnap scam mum Karen Matthews has revealed they want to start a FAMILY when she gets out of prison.

Craig Meehan, who was jailed last year for having child porn images on his computer, also intends to MARRY Matthews inside.

Such a ceremony would be funded by the taxpayer. Matthews-whose seven children by five fathers are all in care-this week began an eight-year stretch for staging the fake kidnap of her ten-year-old daughter Shannon.

Sick Meehan, 23, revealed: "Karen's upset because she's lost all her kids. But it doesn't matter because we're going to have another baby.

"We're going to start a new family when she comes out of prison. We want all of Karen's children to be involved in our wedding, including Shannon. But I don't know if that is going to be possible."

Meehan, who has been in hiding since finishing his jail sentence, said he proposed by letter while Matthews, 33, was on remand.

He added: "She wrote back and told me that she wanted to marry me too. I would prefer to get married on the outside but it's too long to wait. So we have spoken about getting married inside and that is what we are going to do. People can't stop us."

Sickeningly, the pervert tried to EXCUSE the actions of Matthews, described by the judge at Leeds Crown Court as "truly despicable."

Meehan insisted: "Karen says she hasn't done anything wrong so she's got nothing to be remorseful about. And she's sticking to her guns.

"She asks after Shannon all the time. She misses her and wants to be reunited with her.

"She told me, 'I'll do everything I can to be with her again. I'll smash the prison gates down if I have to'."

During Matthews' trial, the jury heard Shannon is haunted by her 24-day ordeal at the hands of her mother and accomplice Mick Donovan, and will needs years of therapy to live a normal life.

The little girl was drugged, tethered and hidden in a divan bed in Donovan's West Yorkshire flat after being snatched on February 19 last year. Meehan said he has forgiven Matthews for cheating on him with Donovan, his uncle.

He said: "I've put all that behind me now. I love Karen and I have forgiven her. I've told my family the same - even though they think I'm mad to be standing by her and it has caused a lot of problems.

"But Karen hasn't cheated on me as many times as it has been reported in the papers. It's been less than five times.

"I don't believe she will cheat on me again when we are married."

Meehan told how he rekindled his relationship with Matthews during visits to her on remand in New Hall Prison, near Wakefield.

He added: "Karen doesn't cope well in prison. She's very down and cries a lot. She's very lonely. She wants to come home. She says she wants to be with me and the children. She wants everything to be as it was before all this started.

"I send her letters, money, stamps and CDs. That's all she ever wants.

Matthews and Donovan were given six years for kidnap, three for false imprisonment to run concurrently and two years for perverting justice.

But with time already served on remand, the pair are likely to be freed in just three years.

Meehan blames his uncle for having an affair with his girlfriend and plotting Shannon's kidnap.

He said of Donovan, who had his jaw broken by irate inmates at Leeds Prison: "For me, he doesn't exist any more. I am standing by Karen."
