MEGARICH Wayne Rooney drew 1-1 in extra-time with wife Coleen for Christmas presents-they both secretly bought watches for each other from the SAME shop.

The Man Utd star, 23, forked out £70,000 on a diamond-encrusted Rolex for her.

And she bought him an £80,000 luxury Panerai watch after nipping to the same jewellers while he was in Japan helping his side win the World Club Cup. Coleen, 22, knew Roo had bought her a SECOND £150,000 Bentley and a gold necklace-meaning the couple topped £300,000 on gifts for each other.

But they were unaware that they'd both made trips to upmarket watch jewellers Cottrills near their home in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Special

A pal said: "They wanted to surprise each other but ended up secretly going to the same shop.

"It wasn't until Christmas morning that they realised what had happened.

"They loved their presents. They wanted to buy each other a special gift and they thought it was symbolic that they had the same idea for their first Christmas as a married couple."

Our source went on: "They knew a few of the gifts they were getting. Coleen already has a Bentley but she wanted the new version in a different colour.

"And she asked for a white gold necklace which spells out her name. She also has one of them, but it is in yellow gold."

The couple are used to buying each other lavish presents. For their 21st birthdays Wayne splashed out £250,000 on a diamond Chopard ring, and she got him another £30,000 designer watch.

Those two young people work for the money they have. They give their time, and a substantial amount of their money, to charity. If you got your heads out of the bucket for long enough you'd see that and not believe every little thing you hear about "they bought this... they bought that..."

Sad bastards should give some money to an animal charity..

Its their money. Who has the right to comment on what others choose to spend their earnings on.

Even if we are all in the midst of a credit crunch there will be others much, much more better off than us but should it make us judge them...

The credit crisis isnt their fault!!

I am for it and against it. One minute, we're all envious because of what they have and that they definitely flaunt it.
The next minute, the country's in such a state that they are blatantly doing this in front of our eyes. I mean, WHO needs two Bentleys?
We are all so skint!
Then, I think how they got their big money, well, they worked for it. Whether it's playing football, or modelling, or chat shows, or anything else.
They certainly never got it put into their hands for free.
Happy New Year to the Rooney's

What a bunch of envious losers. Yes, the country has problems but the businesses they bought all this stuff from would have been delighted at their custom. Moaning whingers don't contribute anything.

Admittedly they have no hobbies or taste, but couldn't they give a shed load to charity?

he should get a face lift, money better spent. He will end up like gazza or george best(broke, drunk & alone)

This just goes to show the limitation of their intelligence,if these ostentatious items of gifts. Are the best they can come up with,on how to spend/use their money in a sensible manner.
But the root cause of the problem is of course the indecent, gross & excessive monies that are paid to them beyond any justification.

Ive never seen the point of having very expensive jewlery and its not because cant afford it , its because have more important things to spend money on plus junk jewlery sparkles just as much and your not heartbroken or out of pocket if you lose it.which is why primarks, claires , peacocks etc do well especially on the jewlery section.

i think we envy them, its a lifestyle we all dream off.

Well it's their money therefore they can spend it on anything they want, it's really nothing to do with anyone else, I am sure they both pay a hefty Inland Revenue bill every year.

oh dear. I'm afraid this has put me off Colleen. I was a big fan but:

"Coleen already has a Bentley but she wanted the new version in a different colour.

“And she asked for a white gold necklace which spells out her name. She also has one of them, but it is in yellow gold.”

Our country is in the throes of a crisis. Businesses are folding right, left and centre.

Those gifts are surplus to requirements, ostentatious and tacky. Thoughtless and selfish to say the least.
