£120 refund from TheTrainline.com

OUR new consumer champion column with MARTIN LEWIS and SAM DUNN helps you hit back at greedy firms who put profits first - and you second.

Q I have been trying to get a £120 refund from TheTrainline.com for nearly THREE months after a ticket printing mess-up left me out of pocket.

But, despite numerous telephone calls, I am still waiting.

Each time I phone, costing me money, they say they have received the receipts I sent and that I'll get the refund in 5-7 days. It never happens.

I'm at my wits end. Please help!

A IT'S time to blow a short, sharp whistle on this appalling customer service from TheTrainline. It's clearly off the rails.

The original problem may have started with a simple printing error but your attempt to recoup your cash really hit the buffers when TheTrainline's customer services wrongly categorised your ticket as 'non-refundable'.

This meant that you kept on slipping into its 'take no further action' file, and were left stranded despite countless calls.

It is outrageous. We don't think just getting your money back is enough.

As well as returning £120, TheTrainline will also give you £50 to say sorry.

It has introduced steps to ensure nobody else suffers.

Hopefully this won't put you off train travel as you can make huge savings. For ways to cut train travel costs go to www.moneysaving expert.com/travel/ cheap-train-tickets.
