SIR ALEX FERGUSON is planning a second attempt at signing Valencia playmaker David Silva in January with a £25million bid.

Manchester United's boss is believed to have made an offer for the Spanish international in the last week of the summer transfer window.

Fergie could even do a deal which sees the player stay in Spain until the end of the season to avoid paying an inflated fee for him after the World Cup.

Silva has a contract at the Mestalla until 2013 which is worth around £50,000-a-week.

And the Spanish club are keen to do business as they attempt to ease financial worries caused by an impending move into their new 82,000-seater stadium.

Valencia were ready to sell Silva to Real Madrid or Liverpool in the summer until boss Unai Emery insisted on keeping the player.

"It is true that there was a bid from a big English club," said Silva. "If it was only a question of money then I would have accepted the move.

"Things can change in the future but right now I am happy in Valencia and I did not have sufficient motive to leave."

It will be a good move to get silva at trafford.I think we need him in order for the midfield rotation to be great.We need good wingers too and a right back.For the goal keeper,we need Green to replace Edwin.The Foster guy has not been impressive at all.

I think Sir Alex should concentrate more on bringing a defender. Man United really need a world class right back and Center back tp partner Vidic. Rio Ferdinard is getting old and injuries all over although J. Evans is good as a cover. May be Fergie should raid Real madrid for Sergio Ramos. Not sure about goal keeper but if Ben Foster keeps Arsharvin shoots like he did during arsenals game then fergie should also bid for Casillas or Buffon. good luck Man United.

Man Utd lack passing creativity and goals? What team have you been watching this season? They look great, keep the ball well and punish teams on the break as they always have. As for Silva being a good replacement for Tevez, I hope he's better than that, Tevez was hopeless most of the time and never worth what they were asking. The team is there that can win the league again, let's not get like newcastle and moan at every result and demand changes or moan about players. They're a good side, get behind them!

i think SAF does needs to bring a couple more players like these 2 so that could replace ronaldo and teves cuz atm i dnt know why he signed owen dnt get me wrong owen was a gd player by just aint that player anymore and bervator is a good player but just does scored enough goals 4 me so i hope that these 2 world class players do get brought in because they but are goal scorers and would lead united to another title i think tbh :D

He is a good player and it will and it will be wonderful him playing along Rooney(the boy with lion heart) But one thing is Sir tho show interest and the other is for Sir to get him. I don't want say anything till i see him with the Red. Sir please get him this time around!!!

I don't think he wil join Man U as he and David Villa have a soft spot for Benitez and they both have said that they will only play for Benitez in the Premier League.

i don't see why fergie wants another striker! im so disappointed the way he takes things. why on earth does he leave Owen on bench and play that lazy officer babertov,it makes me sick! is he trying to disguise all the dime he payed for him? Owen is far better than bebertov in my opinion. And i think the good days of scholes ar behind him,its high time they called on anderson and young gibson to occupy his boots.

It will good to see Luis and Silva play at OT...i'm sure the current squad will see the need to welcome those world class players...hope also SAF get them for the right prices. We should also not discourage foster and tomaz, the lads are doing very well.

David Silva isn't interested in joining Man United. He prefers to stay in Spain. If he will leave Valencia in the near future his prefered opition is said to be Barcelona. Who can blame him?

He will be a nice addition to a nicely balanced squad.
SAF will adjust the way man united are playing now to accomodate him, though I am not sure that Valancia will sell him at this price. I am sure if Man United offered 25M for him they will be willing to go to 30m. Anyhow, as Luke said it will be nice to see him in the PL.
