THOUSANDS of News of the World readers have answered our Go Green & Save call to recycle old mobile phones- bagging a massive £250,000.

More than 8,000 handsets have been sent in since we launched our appeal two weeks ago. We're helping to pay out £250,000-an average £31 for each handset. So dig out your old phones to make sure you don't miss out on making cash to help save the planet.

Construction worker Kevin Allan (above left), 33, from Inverness, made £109 from recycling his Nokia N95. He said: "It was so quick and easy. It will help pay off my credit card."

Dad-of-two Tim Gent (centre), 42, from Wakefield, West Yorks, made £177 from two old Nokias and a Samsung. He said: "We thought we would make a few quid and do a bit for the environment."

And clerical worker Hayley Dale, 36, from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, made £129 from her two Nokias. "It's great. I've told all my colleagues about it."
