'Liam Gallagher tried to have his wicked way with me'

Maria Raymonds, 52, runs a dog grooming business. She lives in Chiswick, west London, with her partner Philip, 59, a company director, and daughter Cheyenne, 25, a make-up artist.

"When I was in my 20s, 50 sounded so old. I imagined women that age as grey-haired pensioners! Now I'm 50, but I don't feel any different, physically or mentally, to the way I did in my 20s. I've realised that you really are only as young as you feel.

I still get asked for ID

Once, Cheyenne and I were out together when Oasis' Liam Gallagher - who was then single - tried to pick us both up. Cheyenne told him I was her mum - and he couldn't believe it.

I've always looked younger than my real age. I still get asked for ID. A couple of years ago, while on holiday in Florida, a sales assistant refused to serve me wine because she thought I was under 21. I had to show her my passport to prove my age!

I look after myself. I don't have any wrinkles, which I put down to exfoliating and moisturising my entire body every day. I do get grey roots, but I colour my hair every fortnight to get rid of them. I don't go to the gym, but I'm really active so I'm a size 10. I was a 12-14 until I had Cheyenne - I can't believe I'm slimmer in my 50s than I was in my 20s!

Cheyenne recently confessed all her male school friends fancied me. I'm glad she didn't say anything at the time or I'd have been so embarrassed - but secretly flattered!"

'The other school mums get jealous'

Elle Pigou, 47, is a private tutor and life coach. She lives in Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, with husband Gerald, 67, a design consultant, and their children Joel, 21, Arthur, 18, and Eve, 12.

"I'm so much more confident about my looks and body now than when I was younger. Back then I wanted to be curvier - I thought I was too thin and I hated my full lips.

Now I don't look in the mirror and see faults, I see a mum of three who looks damn good for her age! I'm fortunate to have aged so well. I don't have any wrinkles, I'm a size 6 and I feel fab.

My mum gave me good advice about taking care of myself and I'm so glad I listened to her. She told me to eat well, always have plenty of fruit and veg and moisturise every day. I also don't drink or smoke. And I do yoga and stretching exercises for 30 minutes every day, which keeps me supple, calm and toned.

At the moment, I'm not worried about ageing, but when it catches up with me, I would definitely consider surgery, perhaps a facelift or some fillers.

I know I look different from many other mums my age, and I'm proud of that. But I'm not that popular with the other mums at the school gates - they're always asking me what my secret is. I think they're a tiny bit envious!

'Coffee and avocados keep me looking young'

Maija Ozolina, 53, is a housewife. She lives in Burnley, Lancashire, with her partner Ainoin, 44, an engineer, and daughter Magda, 19.

"I intend to not only be a MILF, but a glamorous granny too! My own mum was very traditional - she dressed and looked older than her age. I was determined to be the complete opposite. I knew I wanted to be a glamorous, trendy mum, in touch with my own age group. I like to wear jeans and fitted tops and Magda and I share clothes. I hate baggy, shapeless outfits - what's the point of having a good figure if you don't show it off? I've passed on lots of my beauty secrets to Magda. I keep my skin clear and glowing by using natural products - I think chemicals age you. I make body exfoliator from coffee grains, face masks from avocado and I use coconut oil in my hair. I'm a trained dancer and studied ballet for many years. To help keep my body toned and supple, I do callanetics, which are stretching exercises, and take long walks. I'm a size 10 and follow a strict diet and exercise regime. I try to avoid bread and dairy products and I also eat a lot of fresh vegetables. But I do like a glass of red wine and a square of dark chocolate a night. Every woman has to have her treats, after all!"

'I'll have surgery to stop me ageing'

Tracee Prosser, 34, is a DJ. She's single and lives in Aldershot, Hampshire, with her four sons - Stuart, 18, Jak, 17, Camden, 13, and Cairo, seven.

"I had my eldest son when I was just 16. It meant I had to grow up very quickly - although I had support from my family. But I wouldn't change being a teen mum for the world. I'm so close in age to my sons, I can be their friend as well as their parent. I DJ from Thursday to Sunday nights - an unusual job for a mum of four! I think Stuart would prefer a more traditional mum, while Jak loves coming to gigs with me. I really worry about growing old and I dread the day age catches up with me. When the boys have kids I'd rather they called me Auntie, not Granny - that would make me feel ancient! I'm naturally a slim size 8, but I have had some surgical help. I've had Botox in my forehead and two years ago I had a boob job. After four kids, my breasts had lost their shape and size so I had them boosted to a 34DD. I'd definitely consider a facelift in the future - I'll do anything to stay looking young!"

'I get chatted up more than my daughter'

Lisa Gibbons, 36, is an events promoter. She lives in Chatham, Kent, with husband Danny, 44, a sales manager, and their children Sian, 17, and Lewis, 13.

"I go clubbing with Sian and get chatted up by guys closer to her age than mine. She tells them I'm her mum, although most are convinced we're sisters. Sometimes she gets a bit cross about the attention I get, but deep down she's proud of me. Danny was my first serious boyfriend, so it's flattering to have all this attention and know I'm still attractive to other guys. I had Sian when I was 19 and just getting interested in fashion and make-up. I was determined not to be a frumpy mum, so I've always dressed youthfully. I still shop in River Island and Topshop, but I try to dress classily - I wouldn't want to embarrass my kids by going out in a miniskirt and crop top. I'm a size 8, the same size I was in my teens, but I have to work at it though! I go to the gym three times a week. I do worry about ageing. Although I take good care of my skin, I have a few lines appearing. I know it's inevitable, but I want to be a young, pretty mum forever. If healthy eating and exercise don't do the trick, hopefully I can afford Botox and surgery!"

I'm 34(look 20) single working mum of two.I take great care of myself.I love the envious looks I get from the other mums at the school gate. You do not have to let yourself go and look old because you are a mum.Take a little time for yourself each day.Just make the effort.
