Celebrating a successful shoot with a tumble on the snow!

During our flight to Geneva, an hour's drive from the French Alps, we were all excited about the prospect of the winter wonderland that awaited us. So when we got off the plane, all wrapped in layers of snow gear, and found only glorious sunshine and not a flake of snow, feared that my fashion trip weather curse had followed me. I'd experienced rain storms in Ibiza, sandstorms in Arizona and freezing conditions in Morocco, so my track record wasn't great!

However, our hosts from Mountain Mavericks insisted it would snow that evening. We arrived at our gorgeous chalet just outside the centre of Morzine, and after bagging our favourite bedrooms, we set off to find the location for the next day's fashion shoot.

We decided if the snow wouldn't come to us, we would go to it! Avoirez is a neighbouring ski resort a further 800 metres up the mountain and thankfully it was already enjoying two feet of snow.

We set out as soon as the sun had risen the next day. Model Kika had her hair and make-up done before we left and the outfits were styled up on a rail in the boot. We would be working out of the van in -2C so we had to be super-organised if the shoot was going to run smoothly. As the sun was due to set at 4pm, we had a race against time to get all our eight shots completed.

There was a definite a rush of excitement among the team as we prepared to begin shooting. The ski season didn't officially start for a few days so the slopes were virtually untouched, with smooth clear snow as far as the eye could see.

We quickly dug a path so that we could get to and from the van and set up the first shot.

Kika was a trooper, turning it on for every shot and only showing how cold she was when we were back in the van. There were a few touch and go moments when she had to balance the skis on her shoulder, hold the ski boots and strike a pose all at the same time, but she's a true pro!

We managed to get the shoot wrapped up pretty quickly, and the lovely people at Doorstep Skis let us borrow some extra skis and boots just in case we had time for a quick go. As the ski lifts weren't open, we had to walk up the slope, which seemed like a great idea at the time but half way up, we weren't so sure! We all loved our short time on the slopes and to celebrate we had a team tumble down the hill!
