‘This is the perfect place to start married life’

A Place In The Sun? Not for presenter Jasmine Harman, who’s got a new British home – and husband – to keep her happy...

When Jasmine Harman welcomes Fabulous into her detached house in Streatham, south-west London, she has the unmistakable glow of a new bride. "Life couldn't be better," she beams. "I've got an amazing husband and the perfect home to start married life in."

Jasmine, 33, and her cameraman husband Jon Boast, 30, tied the knot in June after meeting on the set of A Place In The Sun five years ago. They bought their two-bedroom pad in April 2008 but didn't get to enjoy it together for months because of their busy work schedules.

"I didn't spend much time here until this February when I finished filming the last series. Now it really feels like home," she says.

Everywhere you look there are signs of the couple's recent wedding. Shelves in the lounge display wedding cards and a photo of them in front of their wedding car, Jasmine's pink VW Beetle.

In the kitchen, the words 'Mr and Mrs Boast - Just Married' are spelt out with fridge magnets, and notes like 'miss you' and 'love you' poke out of a writing pad on the dining room table. It's no surprise, then, that the newly-weds are happy to spend their nights behind closed doors celebrating their marriage.

"I love cooking and Jon's a fan of my curries. The other night I made curried chickpeas with brown basmati rice from ¿the Holford Low-GL Diet Cookbook," says Jasmine, who lost 2st before her big day on a weight-loss boot camp called NuBeginnings. Now 9st, she's still leading a healthy lifestyle but does admit to enjoying the occasional glass of wine on the patio.

But it's the space inside that matters most to Jasmine, who is now a proud auntie to Jon's nieces, Rosie, four, and 18-month-old Martha. "When they come over, they've got plenty of space to play," she says. "The house is so spacious, airy and light."

Jasmine has no plans to start a family just yet, but when the time is right she'll convert the upstairs office into a nursery. For now, the only home improvements will come with the arrival of their wedding gifts.

"We've been given some lovely things like a TV and DVD player as well as artwork," she says. "We can't wait to unpack them and reminisce about our big day. Being married is the best. It's brought us closer and made our relationship even stronger."

It seems life as Mrs Boast is definitely worth bragging about...

JASMINE'S STYLE TIPS

  • Choose neutral walls but jazz up the room with bright furniture and accessories.
  • Don't be afraid to mix and match different styles or periods. It does work. Jon's old clock looks amazing next to my modern armchair.
  • Bring nature inside by using stone tiles and glass. And choose curtains and cushions with plant motifs
