'This rug has seen a lot of action!'

Strictly's Erin puts her fiance through his paces in their London pad

Dancing queen Erin Boag must have tolerant neighbours, because when the Strictly star isn't tangoing her way to success around the country, she's busy dancing around her own living room with her fiance.

Erin, 34, is marrying business consultant Peter Odowd on Italy's Amalfi Coast this summer, and doesn't want him slipping up during the first dance. So the love-struck pair are spending hours pacing the floorboards at their riverside apartment.

"Peter's really nervous about the first dance so we're practising at home," New Zealander Erin confides. "And I can understand it - four of my six celebrity partners from Strictly are attending, including my professional dance partner Anton Du Beke. He's going to be chief bridesman!"

Her living room rug has seen plenty of action already, as it was here that she created many of her own routines for the BBC1 show with her last celebrity partner, rugby star Austin Healey. "You have to do the work when and where you can," she laughs.

And there's no place she loves being more than the three-bedroom flat in south-west London she shares with Peter, 45. "One of my dreams when I came to live in this country 12 years ago was to own a place on the Thames," says Erin.

But as much as she loves the riverside flat, there is one thing that may persuade Erin to move. "It may not be the most practical place for a baby," she admits. "So we may get a house and rent this place out."

ERIN'S TOP STYLE TIPS

  • Furnishings should complement the interior. As the floor and doors are oak, I was determined to find oak bedroom and dining furniture.
  • Use independent local shops where possible - they need supporting!
  • Allow lots of shelf space for pictures - I love being surrounded by memories.
