Analyse Me – Tina O'Brien

What makes your favourite celebrities tick? Fabulous psychologist James Brook probes inside their minds. This week it’s the turn of actress Tina O’Brien, 25.

I'm at my best when... I'm with good friends and family. Being around them makes me feel good about myself, which gives me extra confidence. They don't have to say or do anything, just being with them brings out my good side.

Those closest to me would describe me as... Small, chatty, friendly, bossy and warm¿ with a big temper! In school I was forever getting told off for talking too much. And when I lose my temper - which isn't often, thankfully - I do get really angry and scream and shout!

The one thing about my past I don't easily admit is... That when I was a child I was always slightly afraid of situations I didn't feel comfortable in. I would never tell anyone and would pretend to be fairly confident.

The three things I would want on a desert island are... A cup of tea - I would choose that over champagne every day, sunglasses - because I presume it's going to be sunny, and music - I love Amy Winehouse and John Legend.

The one thing I would like to do before I die is...Travel around the world with my nine-month-old daughter Scarlett and my boyfriend (actor Ryan Thomas). I'd love to take time out to explore different countries and cultures.

If I were to advertise on a dating site to find a partner, it would read... Petite blonde looking for a guy who is sexy and funny to have sexy fun with! I like guys who have something about them. They don't have to be really good-looking but they do have to have a lot of charisma.

The thing I like least about myself is...Letting my emotions take control. Since having my daughter I am much more in touch with my emotions and if I'm sad, I'm really sad, and if I'm happy, I'm really happy. I'd like to be a bit more calm and controlled.

My fantasy dinner date would be... Leonardo DiCaprio, because I'm in love with him. I've fancied him ever since I saw the film Romeo + Juliet when I was about 14. He was my first celebrity crush and I could never ditch him!

The thing I value the most is... My family, because they are my world. Not just Ryan and Scarlett, but my parents too. We're so close and I speak to my mum every day.

My biggest regret is...That I didn't go to university because I started Coronation Street when I was 16. I'm really glad I did the show, but if I hadn't got the part I would have loved to have studied psychology, drama and media studies. I know I could go back now, but it wouldn't be the same. I'd only want to go with people my own age and really embrace the student lifestyle!

If I wasn't an actress I'd be...In PR or advertising. I love the idea of being in a job where you're constantly coming up with ideas and thinking on your feet. I think I could sell or pitch a product quite well as I'm quite creative.

Answer the following...

"Each section represents what I care about. The love hearts are my family, the ZZZs mean I need more sleep, the clothes are my love of fashion and the smiley faces say that I like to be sociable. The blank one means my head is still full of baby mush!"

'Tina is extroverted but insecure'

JAMES SAYS: "Tina is a passionate, sensitive and extroverted person who values stability. She is at her best when she can organise others and gain recognition for being practically useful, helpful and kind.

Tina will seek out others' approval and friendship, and where this is not forthcoming, or she encounters emotional coolness or unkindness, she is likely to be hurt or feel rejected. Tina's responses suggest she places an extremely high value on her family ties, which are clearly a central part of her identity. This level of attachment reflects a sense of vulnerability and insecurity - she still looks to her family for comfort and protection.

When Tina is under pressure, she is likely to lose control of her emotions quickly and may be uncharacteristically critical of others or of herself. Because she is a warm and compassionate person, these negative episodes are likely to bother her significantly.

As a more cautious person, she will generally stick to established ways of doing things and is unlikely to be comfortable taking risks that are too far outside her comfort zone. However, she is clearly open-minded and wants to challenge herself and stretch her boundaries.

Her picture highlights her desire for order and structure, even though this has clearly been disrupted by the birth of her baby. Tina's use of a circular pizza shape to represent herself, as well as the plentiful hearts, suggest a friendly, sociable and sentimental nature."
