Reveal your dark side with this season’s glamorous look

EYES
THE LOOK: Dark and sultry.
PREP: Apply a loose powder (like Ruby & Millie Loose Powder, £13) to stop your eyeshadow bleeding.
STEP 1: Apply a black shadow in an almond shape using a wide brush, like the Mac Fluff Brush, £13. Next sweep some shadow under your bottom lashes. We love Shu Uemura Cream Eyeshadow in Black, £17.62, or B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful Eyeshadow in Beelzebub, £8.30.
STEP 2: If the jet-black look is too daunting, soften with a blue-grey shade like Miss Sporty Mono Eyeshadow in Desire (above), £2.49. Add black eyeliner to your top and bottom lids - try Clinique Kohl Shaper For Eyes in Black Kohl, £12, or Maybelline Kohl Express in Black, £3.99.
STEP 3: Finish with lashings of black mascara. Splash out on Dior DiorShow Waterproof Mascara in Black, £20. Or bag a bargain with Collection 2000 Collagen Curl Mascara in Ultra Black, £4.88.
TOP TIP: With dark eyes keep your complexion flawless and your lips nude. Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, £29, gives amazing coverage without looking heavy, while No7 Perfect Lips Liner in nude, £6.75, is a fabulous nude for the perfect mwah!

LIPS
THE LOOK: A moody black pout with a hint of purple.
PREP: Prepare to make your mouth a talking point! Start by exfoliating - gently rub The Body Shop Lip Scuff, £7.80, all over your lips.STEP 1: Line your lips in a dark purple tone. Myface Eye Pencil in Violet, £6.84, is perfect. Skinny lips? Apply the liner a few millimetres away from your natural lipline.
STEP 2: Fill in your lips with a purple lipgloss like By Terry Tinted Replenishing Lip Care (below), £25.45, or Benefit Silky-Finish Lipstick in Ms Behavin £13.
STEP 3: Follow the shape you've created with the lipliner using a thin brush (try No7 Lip Brush, £7) loaded with black lipstick to build the colour up. Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited in BK 099, £17.62, is pricey, but glides on and stays put. Miss Sporty Perfect Colour Lipstick in Extreme Black, £2.44, is a purse-friendly option. To stop you resembling Dracula's missus, avoid the centre of your lips. Press your lips together to blend.
TOP TIP: Give your lips a glossy finish by dabbing Barry M Lip Gloss Wand in Coconut Clear, £4.25, on your pout with your index finger.

NAILS
THE LOOK: Bold, brave and confident with a hint of sexy shine. PREP: Black varnish stains nails unless you slather them with a base coat beforehand. Clever OPI Natural Nail Base Coat, £9.95, gives a protective layer and doubles up as a topcoat, for super-shiny nails. STEP 1: There are loads of black polishes to choose from right now. With Nails Inc Nail Polish in Black Taxi, £10.50 (a pure black shade), one coat is all you need. Models Own Nail Polish in Matt Black, £5, is softer with a dark grey undertone - we recommend two layers. Essie Nail Polish in Liquorice, £8.95 (above), is super-glossy and glides on easily.
STEP 2: To stop your polish from chipping, apply one coat of a clear topcoat (use the OPI polish again).
STEP 3: Speed up the drying process by applying a few drops of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Speed Dry Drops, £5.95.
TOP TIP: Get into the hot new nail trend by painting bright red polish underneath the tip of your nail where it pokes over your finger. You may need to use a thin lipliner brush to get underneath. Apply it once your black polish has dried and voila, you've mastered the Louboutin manicure!
