Suits: Any face shape and hair type. Extroverts can go for supersized blooms, or dip a toe in the trend with more dainty hairslides.

TUMBLE-DRY

Perfect for:Taking you from the beach to the bar.
Get the look: After a day in and out of the water, most people's hair will dry into tousled waves. But if you're challenged in the curls department, blow-drying with GOSH Professional Salt Of Mine Wet 'n' Dry Saltwater, £4.39, will kick-start tumbling tresses. To boost volume, spritz with Tresemmé 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray, £5.28, and gently backcomb from the roots.
Suits: Thick, wavy hair. But those with small, delicate features may be swamped by such a voluminous style.

BRAIDY BUNCH
Perfect for: A lazy afternoon sunbathing.
Get the look: This season's fishtail braid is much more chic than your regular plait. Pull hair to one side and split into two sections. Take half the right-hand section and cross it over to join the left-hand bunch. Then take half the hair from the left and cross over to join the right. Repeat until you reach the ends. Secure with a band such as Trevor Sorbie Blonde Hair Bands, £2.94. Tease plait with your fingers to give it a worn-in look.
Suits: Longer hair - nothing shorter than shoulder length works.

TOP KNOT

Perfect for: A morning dip in the sea.
Get the look:This glam updo holds better on day-old hair, so if yours is clean, spritz in some Lee Stafford Day After Spray, £4.88, to help it stay put. Scrape the hair into a high ponytail, then plait it and wrap it around the ponytail into a bun, fastening it with kirby grips. For a totally '09 look, finish with a slick of wet-look gel, such as Sachajuan Styling Gel, £14, or Garnier Fructis Style Wet-Look Gel, £3.99.
Suits: Oval-shaped faces. If your hair isn't long enough, add a clip-in hair extension such as Vicki Ullah Straight Clip In, £14.63, and plait.
