If your eye make-up always seems to end up halfway down your cheeks, we
recommend you invest in Estee Lauder's Double Wear Zeri-Smudge Liquid
Eyeliner. It might be a bit more pricey than the rest of our Fab Five, but
it claims to stay put for 15 hours and if it prevents the dreaded 'panda
eye' effect, it's got to be worth it! The waterproof formula glides on with
a felt tip pen, making it ideal for eyeliner novices - the wobbliest of
hands won't stop you creating a smooth, clean line.

4. MAC Penultimate Eye Liner in Rapidblack, £11.74
On the catwalk at London Fashion Week, MAC gave models thick 'post-box' style
liner which were definitely not for the fainthearted. But even if you want
to try something a little more subtle, their Penultimate Eye Liner is just
the thing. It has the coolest packaging of our five picks, coming in a sleek
pen-style casing, but it doesn't just look good - it's very handy for
creating retro, vampy eyes too. The liquid liner goes on fluidly and
produces a rich, deep carbon black shade - you can build up a dramatic line
or keep it light with a sex kittenish flick.

5. Barry M Liquid Eyeliner, £4.50
We normally think of Barry M for their colourful pots of Dazzle Dust which are loved by celebs including Little Boots, Mel B and Christina Aguilera, but the cosmetic brand's Liquid Eyeliner is also one our make-up bag must-haves. The superfine brush requires a steady hand to use, but it also makes it easy to create different effects, from fine to full-on vampy! I've been wearing liquid eyeliner nearly every day for the last 7 years and apart from the initial stages of road-testing, I've always used Loreal.
(And no I don't work for them!!)
Everything about the product is brilliant - the brush is fantastic to get your perfect flick, the product goes on well and dries quite quickly and it lasts a long long time on the lid (and I have annoyingly deep set eyes). And it's a pretty good price!
My housemate once gave me a MAC eyeliner (she works for them) but it was nowhere near as good as Loreal. I'll never stray again!
