We love Ellie Gouldings folksy electro-pop

ELLIE GOULDING: Hailing from the tiny village of Kington in Herefordshire, Ellie Goulding, 23 is tipped for success in 2010. She scooped the Brits Critics Choice' award (previous winners include Adele and Florence and the Machine), supported Little Boots on tour and has Mark Ronson on speed dial! Check out her hit, Between The Sheets, to get a sense of this country girl's dreamy take on electro-pop.

LOLENE: Critics are calling her the UK's answer to Lady GaGa, but Lolene, 24, defies categorisation. With influences ranging from Kate Bush to Coldplay, this Bristolian has a feisty disco-electro sound and her debut single, Sexy People (out in February) will be a huge club hit.

I BLAME COCO: Coco Sumner, 19, has already tried her hand at modelling (for Burberry) and acting (in Stardust), but music is her true love. Her band, I Blame Coco, signed a six-album deal with Island records and their reggae-tinged pop is guaranteed to be the sound of next summer. We love her husky, deep singing voice, which bears more than a passing resemblance to her dad Sting's!

JESSIE MALAKOUTI: 21-year-old Jessie Malakouti's songs have appeared on The Hills, she supported The Saturdays in 2009 and even had a song featured on the Ministry Of Sound Annual 2010.

DIANE BIRCH: For something a little more soulful, check out Diane Birch - this 26-year-old from Michigan sounds like a cross between Carole King and Carly Simon and sings about heartbreak with a '60s and '70s-inspired sound. You could imagine Carrie Bradshaw listening to her critically acclaimed debut album, Bible Belt, on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

FABULOUS AT THE MOVIES
These rising stars will be setting the big screen alight in 2010...

Carey Mulligan is the hottest Brit actress right now
Carey Mulligan is the hottest Brit actress right now

CAREY MULLIGAN: Oscar rumours abound for her performance in An Education, while she's already a favourite of the fashion world, but 2010 looks set to be even better for the elfin Carey Mulligan, 24. She's starring opposite (and rumoured to be dating) Shia LaBeouf in Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps and is currently filming Brighton Rocks. Our hottest export since Kate and Keiraż

JAYMA MAYS: 30-year-old Jayma has done her time playing bit parts in Joey, Six Feet Under and Ugly Betty, but in 2010 she'll be stepping into the spotlight at last in the musical comedy-drama, Glee.

ZOE SALDANA: The 31-year-old American has the leading female role in just-released must-see film, Avatar. She also starred in the hugely successful remake of Star Trek, and returns for the sequel, due out 2011. Plus, she's set to star in next year's Takers, alongside Matt Dillon and Hayden Christensen.

And these are the films worth buying a bumper bucket of popcorn for...

ALICE IN WONDERLAND: The golden trio of Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp have joined forces again for the remake of Alice In Wonderland. Also starring Anne Hathaway and rising star Mia Wasikowska as Alice, this looks like being a fabulously surreal take on the classic children's tale.

IRON MAN 2: Big explosions, a fantastic soundtrack, Robert Downey Jnr, Scarlett Johansson, Gwynnie and Mickey Rourke - what more could you possibly want from a movie?

SEX AND THE CITY 2: We don't really need to explain how excited we are about the SATC sequel! What will Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha be doing with their lives? The well-publicised flashback sequences have whetted our appetites and a whole host of stars, including Miley Cyrus, Penelope Cruz, Liza Minelli are making cameos - fabulous dahling!

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE: Teens and, well, women who are old enough to know better, will be eagerly awaiting the third instalment in the Twilight series. We can't wait to get our RPattz fix!

SALT: Angelina Jolie puts parenting and her charitable commitments to one side to take on the part of Evelyn Salt - a CIA officer who is accused of being a Russian sleeper spy and goes on the run to clear her name. Apparently the part was originally meant for Tom Cruise but Angelina wanted it so the role was changed just for her.

FAB FASHION
Hot new style icons and trends for the new season

Which faces will we be seeing front row at the catwalk shows next year? The new girls on the block include former child star Dakota Fanning, 15, Julia Roberts' niece Emma, 18, and Ernest Hemingway's great-granddaughter, model Dree Hemingway, 22. And what trends will they be wearingż?

Bloomers! Yep, you read that correctly - bloomers are going to be big next year - literally. In delicate shades of peach and lilac, these lingerie-style big knickers were all over the catwalks and are being called 'hotpantaloons' - cute!

Our other favourite trend was the pretty gingham checks seen at Christopher Kane and Louis Vuitton - wear them on a button-down shirt with boyfriend jeans and heels, or on a flirty sundress with flats.

While hemlines continue to rise, you can breath a sigh of relief as heels are starting to get lower - phew! Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel models wore chic clogs at the SS10 show in Paris and there are even rumours that the kitten heel could be making a comeback - whatever next?

Fashion's gone a whiter shade of pale for Spring/Summer 2010 with nude shades dominating the catwalk. Whether you go for a full-on white-out, or choose nude and pastel shades, bold colours are out and pale is most definitely interesting.
