Live: Seasick Steve

Verdict: ****

FEELIN' GOOD: Seasick
FEELIN' GOOD: Seasick

Apollo, Manchester

"YOU know that I know that you know that I'm doing OK right now," grins former tramp Steve Wold about his recent fame and fortune.

The OAP bluesman's rise from the Mississippi streets to the charts is an endearing tale.

Playing with his son Paul, Seasick and his beaten-up instruments keep the crowd rapt. Rollicking tunes such as Chiggers and Dog House Boogie display his mesmerising guitar playing and charisma.

How true the stories of leaving home at 13, guns and jail are doesn't matter - it's impossible not to buy into this bluesman's yarns.
