BEING in a park on a full moon, surrounded by thousands of screaming men - many wrapped in feather boas - would normally be scary. But with Kylie there too, it's one big party.

From the second she descends on stage via a huge metal skull to her final bows, she proves that her first US tour was long overdue.

Unbelievably, after 22 years at the top here, this is the first time Kylie has toured Stateside but she showed her excited audience just what they'd been missing.

Note-perfect live vocals, unceasingly energetic dance routines, countless show-stopping costume changes and endearing between-song banter means a show well worth the wait.

Dressed in a robotic bodice too futuristic even for Lady GaGa, she kicks off with the Donna Summer-inspired Light Years.

The crowd go ballistic when she changes into a floaty white trousersuit, topped off with a hat and cane like An Officer And A Gentleman for her biggest US hit, Can't Get You Out Of My Head.

Kitsch, camp or downright unsubtle, Kylie then plays up to her gay icon image by unleashing her muscle-bound dancers, clad just in towels, to parade around for her during Red Blooded Woman. A slowed-down bar-room version of I Should Be So Lucky in the encore raises huge cheers before Love At First Sight closes a perfect show.

How the Yanks haven't taken Kylie to their hearts before is a mystery, as this performance is on a par with the best a young Madonna or even a sane Britney could ever offer. Keep spinning around, Kyles - on a night like this, you proved why you're the queen of pop.
