Review: Summer Athletics 2009 (Wii)

AH, gone are the good old days of Track & Field in the arcade, where frantic two-button bashing would send that pixelated chap with the funny 'tash to 100m glory.

Now Wii have the likes of Summer Athletics 2009 - a surprisingly fun active game for you and a load of pals. Four players can join in the action with events which vary from track favourites like 100m, 400m and 4 x 100m relay, to long jump and hammer throw.

You can also show off skills in the swimming pool, on the cycling track or with a shotgun.

Controls are a bit tricky and the constant wiggling, swinging and swaying of the Wii-mote and Nunchuck leave you in a pool of sweat. Overall, this one's a laugh and, thanks to its vast library of events, has plenty of stamina.

Just make sure you have too.
