I want a go

The new slide PSP is a Marvel

EVERYONE will want a Go with Sony's new PSP handheld console.

It's slick, shiny, has a slideout screen - and is twice as portable as the old school PSP, which now seems plain clunky in comparison.

There's no UMD disc drive for movies and games on the new device because Sony is switching to downloadable content.

But the hi-def picture quality on the 3.8-inch screen is every bit as good as the original - and it stores your choons and personal pics too. The PSP Go - which was the talk of the town at gamescom in Germany this week - also has a reader.

Sony's deal with Marvel comics will mean you can devour 50 new titles every month including Spiderman, X-Men and Fantastic Four - as well as other graphic novels.

Lucrative

The big news is that Sony will be offering low-price mini games, similar to the iPhone apps - to cash in on the lucrative casual gaming market.

And it'll be offering downloads of all your favourite big games too.

The new PSP will sell for £224.99 - more than a Nintendo DS, but the Go is much more than a games console.

Sony is rolling out a big new movie service, promising hundreds of movies from major studios via the PS3, and you'll be able to load up content from there to view on the Go.

As a handheld entertainment console, it looks unbeatable.

Already gamers are raving about how Little Big Planet plays on the Go.

We reckon it will fly off the shelves as Sony ramps up its entertainment package this year.

PS3 owners should look for a firmware update from September 1 that will put a BBC iPlayer optimised for big screens on their PS3.
