DVDs of the week

STAR TREK (12): The best summer blockbuster for many a year (Dark Knight excepted), Star Trek is a total joy of a film - and if you didn't catch it on the big screen it's a must-see on DVD or Blu-ray. Note-perfect casting and a superb story are its biggest strengths, and the deleted scenes include a sneak preview of the Klingons... oooh!

MOON (15): And right at the other end of the budget conga, but every bit as good, is this ace indie sci-fi effort starring Sam Rockwell as a lonely worker on a lunar outpost. Cold, sinister and with a plot twist that'll blow your mind, this is essential viewing for fans of old-school science fiction.

SUNSHINE CLEANING (15): Reasonably funny, well- acted comedy-drama starring Amy Adams and Emily Blunt as two sisters who start a crime-scene clean-up business. It's CSI: Indie but worth a look if you like that sort of thing.

FOUR CHRISTMASES (15): To counterbalance the quality fare above, here's Vince Vaughn's disgrace of a festive movie from last year, lurching its miserable way on to DVD like a tramp stumbling down Brighton seafront. It's about as festive as a rancid pork chop. Avoid.
