A MATE of Lily Allen, Penate had a hit in 2007 with Torn On The Platform, only to follow it with an album-Matinee-that even he admits was rotten.
But now? He's all right, Jack. Ditching The Streets rip-offs that filled his debut, he's created summery disco reminiscent of Wham!'s Club Tropicana.
What's here is superb but, just as you're wondering what Penate will pull off next, the album stops after only nine songs. Better that than rubbish filler songs-but with a credit crunch on, a bit more VFM wouldn't have gone amiss.
