Powers-that-be as bad as Barwell boys
I'M still struggling to understand why one foul, feral, bullying little family like the Simmons could not - and still cannot - be controlled by the might of Leicestershire Police, the Goliath that is Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and the entirety of Leicestershire Social Services.
Because they all knew about Fiona Pilkington and her miserable life at the grubby hands of the monstrous Simmons family.
How come two ignorant parents and their feral kids were able to hold an entire county to ransom - safe in the knowledge that nothing and no-one could stand in the way of their ten-year reign of terror?
So why didn't the police ever arrest those boys and their parents? Why didn't the council evict them and throw them on to the street?
Why didn't social workers see what was happening to Fiona Pilkington and her disabled daughter, Francecca, and stop it? Why didn't the schools in Barwell do anything to tame their tormentors?
What in God's name is the matt er with these supposedly intelligent, responsible people - paid to protect the weak and the vulnerable - that their laziness and lack of interest in Fiona Pilkington's plight led her to believe that being burned alive was preferable to living alongside the Simmons?
Cruelty
These so-called professionals aren't just cowards. They are devoid of compassion, conscience and guts - which makes them every bit as bad as the Simmons.
Even now those boys are out on the streets of Barwell threatening and abusing people because still no one has the guts to stop them. Not one of them has shown a shred of remorse for the fact that a tortured young mum and her daughter are now dead thanks to their cruelty.
"It's not our fault," they cry. But then, in their world, nothing ever is. And how can those four boys ever feel responsible for anything they do when they have an idiot mother who says: "They're not bad boys". And a father who tells neighbours he'll shove his "f***ing fist" into their mouths if they keep complaining about his family.
Why would those boys ever think they'd done anything wrong when they've never been called to account for anything? Not even hounding a vulnerable mum and her daughter to death.
So what the hell happened to the force of authority in this country? Why has one crappy family been allowed to wreak havoc on an entire community? How did the law become so skewed in favour of the perpetrators of crime, NOT the victims?

And why in the name of blue blazes didn't Fiona Pilkington's neighbours - especially the men - band together against those Simmons boys and threaten to beat the hell out of them if they didn't back off? And no, vigilantism isn't right, but it's what will happen if the police in this country don't take control of the yobs.
Forget human rights, forget political correctness. Law and order MUST be restored on our streets - that, together with the fear of authority and the knowledge if you do something wrong there WILL be consequences,
Families like the Simmons must be made to realise if they abuse people on the streets where they are privileged to have a council house they WILL be turfed out of that house and on to the streets. Because if they don't care enough about their community not to torment them to death why should we care if they have a roof over their heads or if their kids eat?
Like it or not, Britain is now well and truly broken and that's thanks to 12 years of empty promises by this inept government. Despite all its talk of community, family, education and getting tough on crime, New Labour has facilitated the complete breakdown of law and order. They have whittled away authority in every walk of life - in schools, on the streets, even in the home where it's now a crime for parents to discipline their kids.
It's ironic that Labour's 50 new laws have led to near lawlessness and its creation of 3,000 new offences have meant that decent, law-abiding people are being branded criminals for putting out the wrong rubbish while the REAL criminals continue to run amok.
We protect the human rights of scum like the Simmons family, yet 71-year-old widow Renate Bowling who had the guts to confront the yobs tormenting her - yobs who grabbed her wrists and called her "a f***ing cow" - is hauled into court on her walking frame because she dared to prod one of them in the chest.
The yobs were never charged.
If all this has happened in the name of socialism it's no wonder the British people want no more of it!

The feral individuals highlighted in your piece and others of their kind have no fear of the judicial system in this country, let alone the upholders of law and order. As soon as they are arrested for any kind of offence they shout Human Rights Act and that's their ticket out of punishment, punitive or otherwisde. That a law-abiding family could be hounded in this way by no doubt benefit-scrounging low life makes my blood boil! You are right Carole (as always) when you say that Britain is broken. We have an unelected PM who didn't do very well in his last job, telling us that he needs 5 years to 'fix' Britain. Don't be fooled, this megalomaniac needs fixing at the next GE. We didn't ask for him and we should make it clear to the rest of the Westminster hogs with their snouts in the trough that forcing someone upon up will never be tolerated again. Time to put the 'great' back into GB.

Welcome to Blair's Britain. There will be more to come if Labour get back in with Harriet bloody Harman in control because it's people with her views that have made this once great country the laughing stock of the world, but we all share the blame, just like the people who turned away when an innocent woman and child were hounded to death then we as a nation have allowed new labour to rape this country, we now have a prime minister who hasn't been elected, the country is being run by a man who has been sacked not once but twice and who is also unelected and we have stood by and let them get away with it.

After reading your views of this weeks news as I usually do, I felt the need to also comment this week. The story of this woman and her family being terrorised by this scum who get away with running amock in our streets is beyond belief. I cannot begin to imagine the total desperation that Fiona Pilkington and her family felt. Unfortunatly this is todays society a total breakdown of morals and community. These people are not scared of the Police, they know their "Rights" and play the system well. Its so tragic that this poor woman and her family received no help from the police and the council, we need to start getting tough or where will we be ten years from now.

supposed process strikes me as total eye wash, think about it!!!!!!!
If such a facility did exist, what would they do when a pedophile is identified? Incarceration for life? Dont be silly they would simply enter their name in a book, then lose the book. Kind regards Robert

Well said Carole you are so right. It's about time the police were allowed to police and take action against families like this one.
I would normally say that you can't always blame the parent as you can only bring them up to know right from wrong and they have to choose their own path but it would seem in this case that the parents are largely to blame especially as they don't feel that their boys have done anything wrong 'good boys' don't terrorise vulnerable people......

when is the police going to actually POLICE! and make our neighbourhoods safe and a no go area for thugs and troublemakers? if you have trouble,with a noisey next door neighbour, they tell you to keep notes,for a few months,while your very sanity is in tatters,i'm not john boy walton ,writing my memoirs, i want action, and fast just start doing your jobs,the ones,WE,the taxpayers are over-charged for!

what was allowed to happen here was terryfiying on all levels ..kids that no one gives a damn about an inept police and social services , spineless neighbours , cretinous ignorant parents all culminating in the tragic deaths of a mother and daughter, the relevant agencies and case workers and attending officers should be dismissed and every neighbour on that estate should hang their heads in shame .....in my place of work i have offered supervised placements to such young people who are either excluded from school, placed in temp foster care ( many of which dont care !) or awaiting trial , i have found without exception that in this enviroment and with the guidance , support and boundaries in place all have turned their lives around , not only do i not make any excuses for their earlier behaviour but after 6 months on placement neither do they . virtually all come from homes where drugs and alcohol are everyday activities and parents that cant be bothered with either discipline nor care.
sadly my place of work can no longer offer these placements for a number of reasons (none due to the youngsters) all our placements have gone on to college or to the army the police force and 3 are presently training as vets !! i have offered to set this up as a joint com /council venture but as of yet have recieved no response !

All very well to say ' evict them' it would be the correct thing to do...but then the 'authorities' have an obligation to #re house# them...then some other poor people get the family from hell !! problem not solved.... them and thousands like them , up and down the country.... one solution would be to put all these ...(troubled) people on ONE estate all living together, so they could all torment each other for the rest of their lives...well away from , normal folk.

Labour has destroyed Britain economically and socially, they have spent so much effort finding ways to criminilise decent people, but leave the real scum to do as they please. Yes they will be gone in 9 months, but thats still 9 months of their crazy socialism, and every day feels like a lifetime under these dangerous clowns.

What has happened to the strong protecting the weak?, if I did nt read it with my own eyes I would hardly believe it to be true, that in this day and age a defenceless woman and her children had to suffer like this, at the hands of bullies and cowards. what is the matter with the police, and the court system ? that they gave no protection , I dont know how they sleep at night. Carole you are right england is truly broken.
