That's what Dutch politician Geert Wilders said about being turfed out of Britain for wanting to show his film about Islamic extremism to 30 peers in the House of Lords. And he's RIGHT.
Only now, thanks to those politically correct cowards we call ministers-who collapse like big wobbly jellies at the very idea of offending Islam-Wilders' message has gone out to thousands, maybe millions of people who'd never have heard of him had it not been for Jacqui Smith's idiotic, inconsistent policies on who comes into this country and who doesn't.
And I wonder if Wilders had come to Britain hell-bent on slating Christianity or Judaism, whether ministers would have been quite so rigorous in throwing him out?
Yes, he might be a despicable man with despicable views. But we'll never know because he's been denied the right to speak.
He wanted to come here to show a film about atrocities committed by Islamist fanatics, (he insists he isn't anti-Islam, just anti-Islamist- extremist) and to show people the Koran is being misused to justify terrorism.
But, and here's where the hysteria started, Muslim peer Lord Ahmed insisted Parliament mustn't be used to incite hatred. There were internet rumours he'd promised to mobilise 10,000 Muslims to prevent Wilders getting into the Palace of Westminster. Ahmed denies this, but if it was true it could mean HE was the one inciting hatred.
And let's not forget it was Lord Ahmed who, three years ago, invited al Qaeda terror suspect Abu Rideh to visit parliament-which is why it's inconceivable he's so against Wilders being afforded the same privilege.
As for Jacqui Smith, she's already allowed Hezbollah propagandist Ibrahim Moussawi to come here-a man whose TV station described suicide bombers as "martyrs" and has reportedly labelled Jews "a lesion on the forehead of history".
So, thanks to Ms Smith, any suspected terrorist can pitch up here demanding the death of all Westerners. Women dressed in burkas with their faces covered can march through our cities calling for our policemen to be murdered. Muslim clerics with known terrorist links can peddle their hatred on our streets, on the internet and in their mosques.
But a right-wing politician who belongs to a legal organisation which has nine seats in the Dutch parliament, a man who has never broken the law or advocated violence, is banned from entering this country to voice his views.
So it that how British democracy works? Our government rolls over for the demands of one religious group that accounts for less than five per cent of the population, a group that counts extremists among its members-who threaten us with mob violence when something they don't like might be about to happen?
But instead of rooting out these agitators, this weasly government tries to second-guess what might offend them and then busts a collective gut to make sure it doesn't happen-offending everyone else in the process.
Jacqui Smith isn't just hopeless, she's gutless as well. This was a free country the last time I looked, yet she has made it a country that's free for only the chosen few-those who threaten mob rule to get their way.
So what if Geert Wilder's views ARE abhorrent? Lots of us aren't too keen on those idiots who scream that gays should be burned on bonfires. And we're not delirious at being told Western society is evil and devoid of morals and so must be destroyed.
However people ARE allowed to say these things because Britain is a democracy, a country where freedom of speech is our right.
But Jacqui Smith kowtows to those people who scare her and who, if they don't get their way, threaten to bring terror to our doorsteps.
And it's shameful that her cowardice has fostered bitterness and, yes, racial hatred, towards decent, moderate Muslims who, because of this government's placatory attitude towards Islamists, are being tarred with the same ugly brush.
Didn't it occur to Jacqui Smith that Wilders' presence might have prompted a discussion on the Koran-what it is and what it stands for-that might have been useful as there are millions who don't actually know?
Might not a greater understanding of the Holy Book have helped people understand that the majority of Muslims here want to be respected, NOT feared-and certainly not branded extremists?
Does this government think the British people are so stupid that we're going to start killing Muslims because one bloke with a hideous haircut shows us a terrible film?
The only thing Wilders should have been thrown out for was if he'd broken the law-but he hadn't.
Which is why Ms Smith and her cowardly cohorts have a lot to answer for-not least for making Wilders a worldwide celebrity but also for making the British Government look like it can be cowed by one daft bloke and a raggedy group of bully boys who don't like people criticising religion.
I DON'T know why this government pretends it thinks drug- taking is a huge problem when it spends inordinate amounts of time and money trying to either legalise or downgrade them.
What idiocy was it to set up a committee headed by so-called drug expert Prof David Nutt, who thinks it's a great idea to downgrade ecstasy from a Class A to Class B drug-and having failed there now wants LSD downgraded from Class A to Class B?
Just how much is Prof Nutt (head of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs) being paid for no one to listen to him?
Does he actually have or know children who've died an excruciating death from ecstasy?
Has he ever looked at how such needless deaths affect the parents and families of these dead kids? And how the hell was he ever chosen for this job in the first place when he thinks taking ecstasy is no more dangerous than horse- riding?
Does this idiot academic ever read the papers? Does he know the number of 10 to 16-year- olds convicted of drug offences since Labour came to power has rocketed by 149 per cent as a result of this government's sloppy, wishy-washy, completely confused messages on drugs?
If Prof Nutt thinks taking ecstasy tablets in the conditions our teenagers take them isn't dangerous, why doesn't he down a handful in front of a few TV cameras and experience first- hand what he's telling a whole generation of kids is (almost) harmless?
YOU realise how bad it's got when Gordon Brown, the man in charge of this country, the man who says he's going to lead us out of the biggest financial mess since the Great Depression, asks Whitehall officials to make a compilation DVD of Barack Obama's various apologies on US networks.
He obviously wants to say sorry to us in a way that doesn't make him sound like an emotional cripple with constipation, and that will make him acceptable to a nation he's virtually bankrupted.
Why doesn't Brown just accept he can't do 'warm' and he can't do 'honest emotion'? And if he really wants to study "being real", why not look at footage of Australia's PM Kevin Rudd who last week on various news bulletins wept, got incredibly angry and looked devastated by the tragedy that's befallen his country?
He doesn't need PRs, advisors or coaches to tell him how to react, how to look or how to feel. He just does it.
Brown can't-which is one of the many reasons why he's in the wrong job.

RE: Geerts Wilders.
I used to love the UK.I grew up with my coloured family in cape town in the Eighties. We Loved everything that came from England, I remember as a young boy watching the wedding of the prince and Di on TV. I had dreams of going there as I have 'Family' there( an Aunt who passed for White in the Apartheid days) Anyways, the way things are going now, the England I grew up Loving will soon be unrecognizable. And be replaced by a Country shaped by people growing up Hating It.

Right, you might want to think before you speak, On the issue of David Nutt, he is an expert and has been studying the effect of these drugs for years, he has used simple maths to work out that actually ecstasy is less dangerous than horse riding. You say what about all the young people who have died needlessly from ecstacy well what about the families of all the people who have lost a loved one from horse riding accidents, there are a lot more of them than there are of famillies who have lost some one from ecstasy.
Now you who seem to moan no end about how much money this government wastes, fail to realize we waste billions trying to tackle drugs through the criminal justice system, and we havn't actually reduced supply or availability of drugs. All we've managed to do is turn the supply of drugs over to the criminals and fill our prisons with people who have done no worse than the equivilant of drinking alcohol.

Geert is actually NOT offensive and not abhorrent at all. He has reasonable concerns and a reasonable position on the influence of radical Islam on western society; i.e, it is NOT a good influence. Why are these views considered offensive? They are clearly NOT offensive, they are CORRECT and reasonable.

Hi Carole. Yet another 'spot on' (Geert a grip) article from you. You and other posters have used all the vocabulary that's needed to express our disgust at the gutless incumbents of the present cabinet (woops, I almost said government). Many of us are seriously wanting to jump ship - care to join us?!

Carole, you have articulated how I feel about the MP Geert and the Islam scenario. I really wish Jacqui Smith was replaced by somebody with some guts. Geert should have been allowed into the UK to do what he came for, and that an EU MP should have been prevented from landing is beyond belief. Our relations with Holland has probably dropped to zero. It was a cowardly act on the part of Jacqui Smith.

Carol your interview with Jade both upset and moved me. Please pass on my hearfelt wishes to her and her family. I am not a fan of reality TV but there is something about Jade that I love, funnily enough it is her zest for life and the love she shows them boys. I hope in the remaining time she has left that all of her wishes come true and she is granted the final happiness she so thouroughly deserves. God bless you Jade, you are and always will be a star and soon shining bright from heaven above

I agree 100% with every thing you say carole about the way our once great country is being given away by the the very people who should be protecting it thats why they was elected, or have I got it wrong all these years ? im 54 years old & a working class painter & decorator & feel like I have NEVER been teated as badly & had as many rights taken away by any conservative party as we have under this labour party . im not a racist I just want the same rights as they give to the muslims in particular & yet we are denied & I am seriously thinking of voting for the BNP if possible & I think there will be a lot more people going the same way because they will see them as our only hope of getting our country back & the only ones to stop bowing down to every whim & demand the muslims make in the name of ISLAM.? its now time for our rights as christians in a christian country to be the [prioity.

In the rising unemployment in this country the two people I would love to see unemployed would be Jacqui Smith and her equally gormless boss Gordon Brown!
By Alan.. Posted February 15 2009 at 10:39 AM.
Carole, you are so right, there seems to be one rule for Muslims and another for the rest of us! I can't believe that Government let them say what they like about the Western world but deny entry to a law abiding politician. These are people who take advantage of all the freedom and benefits that living in the West affords them and yet are just filled with hatree towards us. I'm fed up reading about how hard done to they are. If I went to live somewhere like Pakistan, would the government there bend over backwards to ensure no one offended my Christian views - i don't thinks so!! The Government should get a backbone.
By Julie.. Posted February 15 2009 at 10:17 AM.
Dear Carole ,
this episode is even more shameful as the BBC wheeled out an MP named Vaz on "newsnight" who was very forthright in his views that this dutch politician should not come here and show his film , it then turned out that he had not even seen it -Unbelievable . You are absolutely correct , free speech is being curtailed now in this land.

How i agree woth Carole malone,i watched an interview on sky news with Lord Pearson and lord Ahmed and the time that was given to ahmed was disgusting all he did was shout ,Lord pearson hardly got a word in edgeways,Kay Burley did the usual appeasing of any muslim that appears on sky, Lord Ahmed said he had hundreds of emails threatening him from the bnp, sorry but i didnt believe him. I wonder if the media will ask him to back his accusations up.I won,t hold my breath.Unless the decent hard working people of our once great country stand up to this appeasing government we may aswell hand it over to islam.Because i believe thats where we are heading.I might add that the media are complicit in this for not taking this lousy government to task.
By robert taylor.. Posted February 15 2009 at 6:53 AM.
Oh Carol, I think you are amazing, you are the "articulate voice of truth" and I admire so much for everything you say is what the majority of us are thinking and I am so glad that you are in a positon where you can use this voice, for without you the "namby pamby" media would not give us the whole truth for fear of being sued, you on the other hand alway put your head above that parpaphet tell it like it is and I truly thank you. There have been times when I dont always agree but that is very rare. Again you are spot on and I applaud you for your comments and wholeheartedly agree with what you write.
By Carolyn from the Cotswolds.. Posted February 15 2009 at 4:21 AM.
yes carol you are right in everything that you have written about this country every time i watch question time withdimbleby on it i always hear the word muslim about and the koran being said about 20 times in this programme i never hear the worc christian or the bible being said what a sad country
By barbara ward.. Posted February 15 2009 at 1:50 AM.
Prof David Nutt doesn't *think* that horse riding is more dangerous than taking ecstasy. He *knows* that horse riding is more dangerous than taking ecstasy. As does anyone who can do the maths.
More people are killed and injured horse riding than there are who take ecstasy. Its just a fact. You might not like it, but that doesn't stop it from being true.
And if prof. Nutt should take a handful of ecstasy to show how safe he says it is, you should at the same time ride an obstacle course sat on the back of a wild horse to show that you think he is wrong.

I moved out of England, (my birth country) to live and work in the Netherlands in 1990. Boy am I glad that I did. I have watched in horror as the likes of Blair, Brown and that wretched man Mandelson turn a once proud country into what it has become today, a toothless, cowed country. I, as yourself Carole, am not, never was and never will be a racist, but to see the hatred written on plackards and paraded through the capitol of the UK with the police watching and doing nothing over those stupid cartoons some years ago, was the turning point in my opinion of any form of sensible decision making by anyone in authority there. The British people are now prisoners in their own country, policed by the very people who should be protecting their rights. It is shameful and disgusting to see it happening, and I for one pray for the day when true free speech and reason returns for all. I am not holding my breath whilst self serving, idiotic imbeciles such as Ms Smith have any form of power over there.
