"I'll be the one who decides if my daughter is old enough to marry." But Renata, who hasn't bothered to learn English during her two years here and uses the baby-faced bride as her interpreter, does not give a stuff. We tracked her down to a rented two-bedroom, terraced house in East Ham, which is home to her and FOURTEEN relatives, including her husband and the five kids they are raising on benefits. Renata, 31, who smokes and boozes despite being pregnant with her SIXTH child, boasts: "I got married when I was 14 in such a ceremony—and it hasn't done me any harm." CultureShe went on: "Just because I live in Britain doesn't mean I've got to behave the way you lot think is right. I'll live my life the way I want and that includes the way I bring up my kids. "I don't care what the neighbours think, or social services. It's not my problem people around here don't understand our culture and values." Those "values" will land her in court next month for rent arrears because she won't pay any until she receives housing benefit. But her despairing landlord told us she won't fill in forms for the handout because she does not understand them. Meanwhile her wild brood are terrorising the street by playing deafening MUSIC at all hours, chucking RUBBISH into neighbours' gardens and SPITTING on their windows.
She first met Bezo—the son of a family friend—when she was seven. A deal between the fathers was struck three years later. On her wedding day—April 28— she was driven in her dad Edward's battered Vauxhall Vectra to the Central pub near West Ham's Upton Park ground. Behind closed blinds, around 150 guests watched as a community leader tied the child couple's hands together in a traditional Polish Romany wedding ceremony. Their marriage is not recognised under British law but a Polish elder explained child weddings are common among Romanies in his country. Otton Hulacki, 86, chairman of the Isle of Wight's Polish Society, added: "It is gypsies who have these kinds of ceremonies." BrawlBezo now wants Bozena to move in with him and his parents two miles away in Manor Park. But she would prefer for them to stay at her home because she'll miss her mum "too much". As the "newlyweds" strolled down the street hand-in-hand, groom Bezo started a brawl with three members of a rival "gang". We watched as the teenager sprinted down the road and hurled himself into the ugly fight. Despite Bozena's tearful pleas for him to stop, he rained blows on an opponent's head until a middle-aged man waded in and pulled him away. Minutes later cops pulled up outside Renata's house but no one was arrested. Neighbours, too terrified to be named, described the Gurals as a "family from hell". They said when social services visited the house last month, Renata bolted the door and hid in the kitchen with the kids. One neighbour added: "Everyone around here is praying that they get evicted. They're a nightmare." As for the child bride, her mother claims she is unaffected by her "married" status. Renata adds: "Bozena hasn't moved on to a grown-up life. This has not done her any permanent damage. She is still just like every other little girl." Every little girl who has a husband, that is...
